First impression... From the outside, a homeless guy was sleeping literally 3 feet from the front door. Not the spa's fault, but Yikes. Upon entering, no one there to greet us and the place was very dark. Even though I made reservations based on Yelp reviews, it felt closed. After calling out "Hello?" A few times, a gentleman finally came. I asked him where to park because 5th ave is very busy. He explained that I could park in their parking lot for free but it was a block away. I explained that their website said they validate but only for 1 hour and we were getting 90 minute massages. He said their website is wrong so just go park there anyway... Very confusing. Luckily, there was a spot open & I didn't get towed! But after reparking, we were now late. My wife went to use the bathroom but slipped on a huge puddle of water in their hallway. Employees instead of asking her if she was ok, hurried her back to our room presumably because they had more reservations after us. The massages were pretty good but very expensive compared to Convoy area. Because of the strange & not so friendly customer service as well as expensive pricing, we will not be returning. read more

I highly recommend the 90 minute massage that includes a foot detox and foot massage along with full body massage. It consisted of a small flute of sparkling wine, 15 minutes of the lemongrass lavender wet sauna, a shower (all amenities included), reflexology with a head massage, and a whole separate hour of full body massage. The temperature inside was just right, the music was very relaxing, and the dimmed ceiling lights with moving images made for a calming environment during the reflexology (shared room with others but you're in a robe staring at the ceiling). Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. There was a language barrier unless you speak Chinese but we were able to navigate through all the stations without a problem. I was really hoping this was going to be as good as the good reviews and nowhere near as bad as the bad reviews. Well, it ended up being a spectacular experience. It's not dirty, contrary to one of these recent reviews, and the therapist obviously knew what she was doing, contrary to another recent review. I have multiple sclerosis and was fairly recently smashed by a cement mixer truck so this was an important step on my healing journey. Emma, the young woman who worked on me, was patient and heeded all of my limitations. I have a heat intolerance due to the MS so she went along with my needing to cut jacuzzi/steam/sauna short without any fuss. While visiting San Diego we were looking for spas for a spa day and we found this place on Yelp. We were staying at the Gaslamp district and it was about 15 minutes away, we called on Saturday for a Sunday appointment for 2 at 10am. We first wanted the Topaz package for $110 and like 100 minutes but when we got there the receptionist mentioned that there wasn't a massage. So she told us the various packages and we chose the Orchid package-- very relaxing and it brought us to every part of the spa. From a regular store front it felt like a resort spa, we started with the sauna, champagne, jacuzzi, sea salt scrub, 90 minute massage, and ended with the tea in the tea room. It was great it felt like a spa in Vegas or any other resort I've been to. I had Allen and he was great! I would highly recommend and would come back if I'm visiting SD! Came here for my birthday to pamper myself. I enjoyed the experience more because of the company of my own party. The experience itself is exciting because of the theme/ambiance/decoration, you have your own attendant to assist you, and you're always moving to one to another section of the spa. When we began, we took off our shoes and put on provided slippers. We were then escorted to the bathroom to change out of our clothes into a robe. Because of the language barrier and sort of being rushed, we didn't quite understand that was all we had to do (just change into the robe). We thought we had to shower first so we hopped in the shower only to be stopped 5 minutes later to get out of the shower and just get into our robe. No worries! We were then escorted to the eucalyptus sauna where we sat as the thickest steam came out of a pipe filling the space. It was crazy! We had no sense of time, could hardly see our hand in front of us, and we started getting a little freaked out. Alas, 20 minutes later, someone did come for us and motioned for us to follower her. We then went to another room with other people and received our scalp massage, foot scrub, and facial. The facial is just those face mask packs you can buy at target or wherever. They spread the serum in your face and then put the mask on you. I think this lasted only 15-20 minutes. After, we were led to another room where it was our own. They gave us some tea and we sat while we waited for them. This is where we received amazing massages. I think it lasted 50-60 minutes, I'm not completely sure the time on it. And after we were done, we were escorted back to the locker room where we could shower and get dressed. Our shoes were then returned to us. We paid and left. It was a good experience for $300+ (Couples Staycation Package). I keep it in mind when talking about spa experience with other people but I'm not sure when I will return. read more

Other people must know the right person to get and ask for by name because I gifted my wife a massage here for her birthday and it was AWFUL. I told them Swedish massage and I don't think they actually knew the difference between deep tissue and Swedish-style massages. The female masseuse did not speak one word of English so my wife could not tell her how painful it was. She tried to point and say "bad" with a frown but it apparently was not understood or the masseuse did not care. My wife currently has many small bruises all over her back from the woman digging her elbows into her. Again, that is a deep tissue style and we asked for Swedish. Never going here again. It wasn't that peaceful of an environment and no one seemed to have good customer service. I recommend avoiding this place. read more

I did not have a good experience at this place. My massage was very uncomfortable I almost felt violated by the male massause I had. It felt like he was pressing on me rather than massage me and I was not able to relax. Many times he touched my butt which is not normal for massages. There was even a point when he lifted the sheet when I was face down and I believe could see my entire naked body... once again.. not normal. I told the front desk I was very unhappy with my massage and tried to get a refund for the remainder of the gift card I was gifted because i dont ever want to return to this place.. but he refused. Please do not come here, the massages are very u comfortable and borderline intrusive.. the vibes are off besides that you're shuffled around various rooms I started my service in a room with 3 other people and it just felt wrong and uncomfortable the whole time. This was such a nice surprise during my recent trip to San Diego! A wind down during vacation that I didn't even know I needed. The spa staff were very communicative prior to the appt; even called ahead to inform us that they were running a little behind. With their direction to the best nearby parking lot, parking was a breeze and with so much to do in the area, this was definitely a plus to be able to easily locate. The interior of the spa space is beautiful!! Very appealing to the eye and you definitely feel at peace immediately upon walking in. We were only in the lobby for about 2 min before being called back into the beautifully decorated hallway/entryway into the rooms. Though I didn't use it, I noticed they had sandals and a nice size sauna. The massage itself was like a 7/10...not bad, not the best but I did feel much better walking out than I did walking in. My only cons experienced is that the music was pretty low and so low that during the massage you can hear all of the conversations happening out in the lobby; so though a little disruptive, it still didn't stop me from falling asleep several times during the massage. And that they didn't ask us to fill out the usual paper before the massage where you indicate what parts of your body you want them to focus on, not touch, have problems with, etc. so instead this disrupted the massage a bit when it had to be communicated mid-massage. read more

I have never had such a horrible experience at a "spa" where I had a massage booked as I did when I made the mistake of booking a massage at cascade. I am somebody with a chronic pain condition and multiple orthopedic injuries. The masseuse refused to have any sort of communication with me about what is going on in my body so that I could avoid being harmed or injured further by the massage. When I expressed concern he repeatedly told me to be quiet and lay face down. When I refused he left and left me in the room alone for 15+ minutes. This place had zero masseuses who were willing to talk to me about my body and also had no intake form or method of communication with people who don't speak English. This isn't a language issue it is a communication issue that they have taken zero steps to remedy. A woman called me to "talk" about the situation and repeatedly raised her voice and talked over me while refusing to give me the name and license number of the original masseuse to file a complaint. I am aghast at the lack of professionalism but even more disappointed by the total lack of care and compassion for someone who has a disability. read more

I would recommend Cascade Spa. My boyfriend and I did the Couples Staycation package- i think it was worth the price. We started in a steam room with champagne in your towel. I recommend taking everything off underneath so your underwear doesn't get soaked, you're going to shower off and keep them on after this. Maybe bring an extra pair if you're more comfortable with that. It felt like we were in there for a while but we were enjoying it, we just stayed and waited for someone to come get us. They had us change into robes, and took us to a room with a few other people in it. The "facial" consisted of a face/neck massage and a sheet mask. They give you a foot massage while this was on and it felt great. This room wasn't the most quiet, the door was open so you could still hear outside and the lights shined in. Your eyes are covered and I was relaxed anyways so this didn't really bother me too much. After that we were given hot tea and taken into the couples massage. We both thought the pressure was great, it was very relaxing. We were not taken to the Salt Sauna, I think you have to say if you'd prefer that over the steam room. Worth asking if you have a preference. There is a language barrier, but it didn't really cause confusion. They walk you through what to do/where to go and it's pretty simple. One review i saw that was the same as my experience, a female employee came in the locker room while I was getting dressed and left the door open when she left. There was nobody out in the hallway and i just closed it myself. There is reserved parking a block away, just ask them for the address. We had no problem with it. Bring cash for gratuity. read more
