Just had one of the first massages at the soft open of the Exquisite Hideaway located inside the Bayfront Marriott. The place is super cute has a very earthy but tastefully exquisite vibe. They offer custom teas and scents and the high end tables are incredibly comfy. My therapist was Olivia and I can't speak highly enough. Being a massage therapist myself I am pretty critical. Olivia has warm, firm, trustworthy and intuitive hands. Her rhythm is trans inducing and yet somehow invigorating at the same time. I left feeling like I could skip home. Thanks Hideaway, I will be back.

The common clothed area includes a lounge with refreshments, a cold room, and two dry saunas - one with salt walls and one infrared. Some private treatments are also offered such as massages and full body exfoliation. The cold plunge was 60 degrees on my first visit, 55 degrees on my second - both plenty cold for a beginner like me. Overall, a nice relaxing treat for your body although I wish they also offered grooming services like pedicures. It's not the largest place, but it's big enough and facilities like this are hard to find in the US.

Please only use the Spa for the wet area. The wet area and body scrub (only do not add the face mask or any add ons) are worth the money. Everything else is not. The staff including the front desk and massage therapist were genuine and caring. The facility was clean. The snacks area in the lounge were stocked. The uniform and towels were clean as well. This review is strictly for management and how they would allow a massage therapist that did not know what they were doing to massage customers. I am disappointed that I would be charged $140 + tip for the worst massage I have received. I have visited the Yu Spa many times and this time I opted for a dry massage. Now that I have had one I will not be returning.

The staff is where this place shines. Every single person we interacted with was kind, genuine, and attentive in a way that felt personal rather than scripted. The relaxation room set a great tone with complimentary tea and a lovely granola offering. Our therapists paid close attention to our needs throughout the 60 minutes, and the massage itself was exactly what an anniversary afternoon should be. To top it off, they surprised us with glasses of prosecco as we said our goodbyes. My only critique here was the locker room. Compared to other luxury spa experiences, the locker area felt noticeably small including the lockers themselves. The amenity offerings were quite basic -- shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a nail kit, and spray deodorant. Missing were the details that elevate a spa stay: shave kits, body lotion, face/hair products and toothbrush/toothpaste. For a property at this level, these extras matter. Overall, a wonderful anniversary experience and a solid 3.5/4 out of 5 from us. With a few upgrades this could easily be one of San Diego's best spa destinations.

Since booked my husband with Kat and he likes really deep massages and he said Kat did AMAZING at getting his knots on lower back and neck. Lots of places don't have time slots that work for 9-5ers like myself. Anyway, parking can be a bit challenging in that area near the beach, but I found a spot close by. I was warmly greeted at the door. The lobby area has a large wall of products for sale. Also, there was cute artsy jewelry to look through. There is also a relaxing lounge to wait in, but I didn't have to wait at all. They were ready for me, even though I was a few minutes early. I don't remember the name of the person who gave me the facial, but she was great. She asked me a few questions about my skin. She also made some simple conversation in the beginning, but then was quiet so I could relax. I really liked the different masks and products they used. I felt like my skin was soft and hydrated at the end. The stuff smelled great too! I also like that I didn't feel pressured to get additional treatments or to buy anything in the end. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that from the questions asked, I didn't really feel like they reviewed that questionnaire that you fill out before I come in. Maybe they did, but forgot some things. Regardless, it did not take away from my experience

I believed the new owners were using the extra funds to upgrade the spa, buy new equipment and pay employees better, at least according to their emails. Sadly, there's been a rapid decline in the business. The spa now looks dingy and neglected, and there's a foul odor throughout. The quality of facial and massage services dropped so much due to the constant turnover that I had to stop coming altogether. I had been seeing Chelsea Bowman and the master facialist Ami Sheneman for years. Both left, and no one contacted me to let me know I wouldn't be seeing them for my next appointment. I only found out when I showed up and discovered I'd be seeing someone else. The new girl Kendall, bless her heart--she tried her best, but it just wasn't the same. On top of it when I asked the girls at the desk where Chelsea and Ami went, each time they looked scared and uncomfortable answering. For anyone wondering where Ami went: I found her! She's now at Pier to Point down the street at the other end of Voltaire. I've already been there and signed up for multiple memberships. I highly recommend you do the same. It's such a shame about this spa since it's been part of the community for so long. Edit in response to the owner's comment: Thank you for your response. I want to clarify that my review was written in good faith based solely on my personal experience as a long-time client of your spa. I did not create my account with any intention of coordinating negative reviews or promoting a competitor. I have never had a Yelp account prior to this, which is why it is new. I've also never left a Google review prior to this either. My intention was to share my honest disappointment about the recent changes and lack of transparency when my preferred practitioners left, which significantly impacted my experience. I understand privacy policies, but as a loyal client, I felt it would have been more considerate to inform me prior to my appointment that my practitioners would no longer be there, enabling me to make the decision if I wanted to see someone new or not. This would have allowed me to cancel, so I could continue my services with the professionals I had established trust with. I stand by my original review and hope future communication with clients will be handled with greater openness and respect. Thank you.

But when a special occasion arose with a group of girlfriends, I resigned myself and just handed over my credit card. Kyoko, the main spa attendant, greeted us warmly and showed us around. She was a friendly and helpful presence throughout our visit. I got the 60 minute relaxation massage, and it was worth every penny. My masseuse, Jasmine, was excellent, from the moment she greeted me to when the message was over and she bid me farewell with a tiny cup of their fresh-squeezed orange elixir and a warm towel. Speaking of towels, so many towels everywhere--all cloth. Nary a paper towel to be seen, even in the bathrooms. Their robes were fluffy and luxurious, and the slide sandals were nice quality, no cheap flip flops here. On our visit there weren't that many other guests (we did get there later in the day), so it felt very tranquil and private. We availed ourselves to the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool before and after our treatments, and hung out in the well-appointed ladies lounge with some of the available snacks: almonds, dried apricots, and housemate oat bars that were really yummy. It was a rare treat for me and I enjoyed every minute! Don't forget to get your valet parking validated before you go.
