My friend and I treated ourselves to facials and massages at Whispering Day Spa for our birthdays last month. It was a bit difficult to find at first, but if you go, the closest parking is at the CVS across the street. The spa has a nice, calming atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. We made a little celebration out of it--my friend brought a charcuterie board for us to snack on, and we even brought cupcakes to share with the staff. The services themselves were relaxing and enjoyable in the moment. That said, given the price point, I was hoping for a slightly more elevated experience. Overall, it was a nice way to celebrate, just not quite as memorable as we expected. However, I would not say I wouldn't go back. read more

I cannot recommend Ron and this spa highly enough. Due to long hours working in a non-ergonomic office chair, I developed severe knee pain that made even basic walking difficult. The pain was so intense that I couldn't squat without severe discomfort and had to rely entirely on my opposite leg to stand back up, which began straining my good knee from overcompensating. From the moment I walked in, the entire facility exceeded my expectations. The spa is really nice, spotlessly clean, and creates a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. The receptionist was extremely kind, and the crystal bedroom was exceptional. It has been about two weeks since my appointment, and I am still experiencing incredible relief. Ron's approach was exceptionally professional, thorough, and attentive. Throughout the session, he frequently checked in on the pressure to ensure I was completely comfortable. Beyond his hands-on skill, Ron was remarkably generous with his knowledge. He took time to explain what was happening with my body and gave me specific, targeted exercises to support my recovery. I have incorporated those exercises into my daily routine, and they have made a huge difference. Ron is not only a fantastic practitioner, but also a truly kind person who genuinely cares about his clients' well-being. I really wanted to like this place But the vibe was pretty off and their were some mixups in our times and service causing us to come another day . The next the vibe was off and although staff were friendly the service was subpar Response to owner comments : Yes you did give enhancements but that did not make up for subpar service . I was really looking forward to the massage but it was very subpar for me . I am not speaking on my mothers behalf . Possibly the biggest disconnect between outside appearance (an unassuming, generic-looking building with a number of businesses within it) and the quality within, that I've seen in a long, long time. The massages here from Kat and Ronald are easily some of the best in San Diego if not all of the USA. I've had easily over a thousand massages in my life, across different countries, cultures, languages, and yeah, these two are still *that* good. On top of that, the facial I got completely cleared up my face. Honestly felt like some sort of black magic got cast on my face and sucked everything out of it, regarding both Cindhy's exfoliation and the quality of the tools/devices they used to do so. Do note though that, while they DESERVE this much money for their services and if I could go back and choose to buy their services again, I would, it's worth that and more, the place IS pricey. Definitely a "once every few months" treating yourself thing for most of us, but well, well worth it. read more

I've been here twice. My first visit was absolutely wonderful so I came back for a second visit to have a massage/facial combo package. The massage was absolutely wonderful, but then the facial. The woman who did it was the owner herself. It felt a little rushed, like she was covering for someone else, and she admitted she wasn't in her usual room. I told her going into it that I was concerned about redness in my face. She then proceeded to do an extremely painful extraction in a place I'm not even sure had anything, leaving me with a cut and stinging wound. Two days later and it looks worse than ever. I called to complain and they said they would call me back- never did. I understand sometimes faces can be red after facials but this is a wound that with my skin will most likely scar (I'm prone to scarring). I'm very disappointed and upset and now trying to cover it with makeup which stings. The least she could do is call me back to apologize. Also she disappeared after her service, usually they wait for you and walk you out, I think she knew she messed up and was hiding. read more

Upon entering, I was first surprised at how small the space seemed. From looking at pictures, I had envisioned a much bigger space but hey, we are in an area of prime real estate so I get it. Anyway, Heba, my esthetician was awesome and I had a very positive experience. I got the Dermaplane & Oxygen facial and it was the best and most thorough dermaplaning I've ever had. Every other time I have gotten dermaplaned, the esthetician took a quarter of the time. Heba was so thorough, informative, and professional. She stopped to ask how I was doing several times and then prepared me before each step. She even told me to raise my hand if I needed anything so that she didn't cut me by accident if I moved fast while she was dermaplaning. My skin looked great afterwards and the facial room itself was very comfortable and relaxing. Since it was my first time there, after my facial I wanted to see the place a bit so Heba showed me the relaxation room. It had these awesome looking chairs in it and I would definitely go early to take advantage of that if you are getting a massage or body treatment. TIP: This day spa is on a corner on Fifth and you would take the long white stairs up to enter. I was lucky to find street parking but I imagine on busy days/times, it could be difficult to find parking and you'd likely have to pay for metered parking. It's above a cute, new pottery studio that opened recently as another tip to find it. All in all, I had a positive experience and I would definitely go back for a much longer facial and/or massage. It's not a big space and it does not have a sauna or steam room or anything like that, but between the relaxation room and the treatment rooms, you will be sure to relax. read more

My friend booked this place for a bachelorette and we all had a wonderful experience. The staff welcome us to their waiting room that was personalized for the Bride and it was very Instagram worthy to take a photo. We were offered mimosa and had a fun time taking pictures. We were all split into different services time slots but after when we were done, there was a relaxation room with crystal beds that we could lay on and wait for the others. I had a female massage therapist who did a Swedish massage on me and I felt so relaxed during the massage. I forgot her name but she made me feel comfortable throughout the experience asking me how much pressure is ok for me. Overall, it was a nice experience for my friends and I. At the end, we felt really relaxed and enjoyed our services. I would recommend this to anyone who's planning bachelorette parties, birthdays or any celebration to make an appointment here. read more

Whispering Day Spa is beautiful, and had a 3 hour treatment (heavenly package). Pros- ambiance, lots of treatment options, crystal bed chairs, robes, insta-fun rooms fun for couples/friends. Average- the massage I got was ok, and the facial was relaxing. Unfortunately I reacted to the lip balm even tho the products were said to be sensitive (had plumping and peppermint additions in the lip balm). Cons- parking was expensive and ranges between 20-50 for 2 or 10 hours (nothing in between). For a 3 hour service (I paid 40). Meters have a 2 hour limit. Admin systems need improvement . We had issues checking in and out which killed the zen feelings. It took 30 mins to check out and the right price for the service would not come up as listed in the package deal. Wasn't a great way to end the experience. read more

I got to put my face into this high end machine/device and it did a scan (almost like an x-ray) really freakin cool! We then discussed in details the problem areas and what we can improve. Also, the importance of SPF and protecting our skin. The spa just felt like pure relaxation the moment you walk in. The lavender & eucalyptus aroma that fills the air, the relaxing music and the sparkling cucumber, kiwi water was just absolutely delicious. GULP. I immediately got so excited to book a future appt on the spot, I was like SOLD, sign me up. Liz went over all of the skin treatments they offer and my skin was just screaming to get pampered. I signed up for DERMAL PLANING - Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that removes the top layers of your skin. It promises youthful, baby soft, smooth skin. All of the products that they use are out for you to see, I am certain they use the best top of the line quality ingredients for your skin. Your body will thank you! Yay, I got to go home with samples in my goodie bag. Love that! Gabby was such a gem, literally, her crystal bed sessions seemed like something my crystal loving body craves. From start to finish whispering day spa made me feel nothing but comfortable, safe, and accepted. Ronald was my massage therapist.The massage was amazing! His stretching technique is rock solid and I was moving so much better afterwards. He took extremely great care to ensure that not only was I was covered at all times, but that I could feel my bits were covered at all times. It made it so easy to give in and just relax while he worked on my really tense muscles. I felt respected, protected, which made the experience that more enjoyable. The robe they provided was snuggly, warm and huge! Which made me even more accepted. My facial with Eva was delightful. Unfortunately, I fell asleep, and she had to endure my snoring! But I couldn't believe the way my skin looked as I left the spa. Liz has gone to great lengths and thoughtfully provided everything needed to ensure a safe and welcoming day spa for everyone. I had originally scheduled for a bundle of a Swedish massage, foot soak, and a facial. The foot soak and the massage were great, but the facial was canceled. Starting with the foot soak the aroma was great And I felt very relaxed. The water was a little warmer than I would have like, but I chose to keep it. I appreciate Ronald asking if it was comfortable for me. The massage was much needed and so wonderful. Ronald was amazing. I left feeling relaxed, stretched, and and Just better than when o came. The ambiance was peaceful as soon as I walked in and the whole time I was there. My facial was canceled due to the tech having an emergency. I appreciate her for letting me know a head of time. Over all Ronald was 10/10. The only reason it is not a 5 star is because I called regarding my appointment, left a voicemail and still never received a return call. Also; on the website, from what I could see, there is no way to update the appointment, but you are expecting to cancel 24 hrs in advance or you get charged 50%. My question is how are you supposed to cancel or change anything if you can't get a phone call or make changes on the website. read more

What an amazing experience! Planned a batchelorette party for our bride, and the spa did NOT disappoint!! The atmosphere was so relaxing, and they even personalized the rooms for our bride! Based on the reviews, I was really hoping for a better overall experience. My body scrub was okay, but my "deep tissue" massage was horrible. I asked multiple times for more pressure, but what I got was a 50 minute pat and rub down. At one point she spent minutes parting my toes and then gently tapping spots on my face and even my mouth! Huh? In the end, I voiced my displeasure and received a 10% discount for the massage. She charged me as if it was more like a Swedish massage, but I wouldn't even say it could qualify as that. The tea in the waiting room was basic. The special crystal beds just felt like hot chairs and the noise from the outside construction totally killed my spa vibe. The only reason I gave it a 3 star is that the girlfriends who joined me said they had a fantastic facial and great 80 minute massage. read more
