Being the second floor in the summer it was always hot so we would overcool the downstairs to make it tolerable. I called peninsula and another company for estimates. Both estimators were good but Ian from peninsula offered a few more options and it turned out peninsula was about 1500 less ..apples for apples. The day that Stella, Tyler and Scott showed up they told us exactly the plan and schedule. Amazingly they accomodated working around a crazy cat we have and were very respectful of our home. When options came up (location etc) they explained pros and cons so we could make a well informed decision. I can vouch for penninsula heat on their service as they have maintained our main heat pump yearly and always have done an excellent job. I can now say if i need something done in the future , I will just go with peninsula heat... They have proved themselves to be amazing, truthful, respectful and my grandson can sleep in a cool room tonight. Thanks so much!!!

The technician that came fiddled around and stated he could not find the issue. I looked it over and saw the battery box was deformed with the piezo lighter, due to an inadequate heat shield. He next claimed this was a specialty part. I informed he they were a standard part on all stoves and easily ordered, if they did not have any in stock. While I was busy unloading boxes he disconnected the battery box with circuit board and drove away. He never followed up with my stove part he took and I ordered a replacement on Amazon and installed it myself. This is the most irresponsible and incompetent stove service technician I have ever met. The last two companies that serviced the fireplace over the past 14 years are now either no longer in business or no longer servicing fireplaces. One of them gave me two referrals to try and I called both. One got back to me the following day, however Straight Comfort Systems got back to me the same day and fit us in for a service visit that evening. I had seen the negative reviews on Yelp, however I had also seen the positive reviews on Google. Given all that, I decided to proceed. In recent weeks our fireplace had started shutting off and turning back on during operation. The duration of the times it was off had become longer and more worrisome, to the point where we were reluctant to use it. Fearing that we would be without the fireplace for the Holidays while waiting for a replacement part (the manufacturer, Lennox, is no longer making fireplaces), I was expecting bad news. However from its behavior he expected it might be a clogged orifice in the pilot assembly, and when he disassembled the system enough to get to the pilot valve he was able to clean out the clogged orifice. Since he re-assembled the system, the flame has been consistent without the intermittent shutting off we had experienced before. The work was done quickly and professionally. Also, a less ethical shop might have told us we needed to replace components, so I was also impressed that he was able to fix the unit with only a reasonable labor charge. I'm an engineer, and from my discussion with Richard I can say that he is extremely knowledgeable on these types of systems. As a result of this experience I would recommend Straight Comfort Systems.
