EverWarm Hearth & Home

EverWarm Hearth & Home

We have been actively trying to replace the 20-year-old old wood stove in our home for over a year…read morenow. Being fairly remote up here in PT, our options are limited and we reached out to 'hearth & home' businesses in Sequim, Poulsbo, Silverdale, and Bremerton before we finally found EverWarm and had our first positive experience. The technician who came out to our home for the initial consultation sold us on hiring EverWarm right from the start. He was super informative and helpful; he provided a wealth of knowledge on-the-spot and went out of his way to explain exactly what needed to be done to not only aesthetically and functionally upgrade our wood stove, but also bring it up to current fire/safety code. EverWarm's consultation was the first and only consultation that included safety, which is immensely important to our family. Being former renters and first-time home owners, my husband and I were eager to take on a DIY project, so we chose to demolish, rebuild, and re-tile the hearth platform beneath our wood stove ourselves, having EverWarm come in beforehand to haul away the old stove and install the new one after our remodel. Long story short, we vastly underestimated the time it would take to obtain and install the very specialized trim and tile that we selected and ended up pushing back our stove install date at least 5 times. This brings me to the second reason I am grateful we chose EverWarm--every single person who helped us was incredibly kind and accommodating. They could have given us grief (and we totally deserved some), but they just kept happily making room for us in their schedule; bless their hearts for dealing with our HGTV-fueled delusions of grandeur and naive simplicity. When it finally came time to install our new stove, the same two gentlemen who had removed the old one were on the job, which we were glad to see. EverWarm's technicians were friendly, efficient, and very respectful of our home (even complimented our decor!). Both the removal and installation processes were smooth sailing, despite the impressive size and weight of our brand new Vermont Castings stove. It is my understanding that EverWarm has gone through some ownership and managerial changes over the years, which I did not know when I first set out to find a business to replace our wood stove. I will admit that I initially passed them over due to poor online reviews, but out of desperation after being let down by businesses with 3, 4, & 5-star ratings, we scheduled a consultation with EverWarm and I could not be more thankful that we did! I find this to be a common and unfortunate pitfall of interpreting online reviews and I highly suggest taking the chronology of a business' reviews into consideration when making phone calls; save yourself the year of time that I wasted.

Bought a Hearthstone brand Lincoln soapstone woodstove from everwarm. Ordered end of November…read more2023. Didn't arrive until February 2024. Problems with fire burning after closing stove door and almost goes completely out when closing the "bypass handle" after reaching temperature indicated on the catalyst thermometer as instructed. Called to complain. Said they'd send installers out to take a look. Since the woodstove is the only source of heat in our home, we had to keep using it but it acted more like a pellet stove than a woodstove. 2 weeks later, installers come out and add a 10" extension chimney. They attempted to start the fire and it did the same thing for them. Installers said they had a 4 inch air intake that might help but they wouldn't advise it as it may make the house too hot. Ours has a 3 inch. They left saying they were going to contact the manufacturer and get back to us. Didn't happen. Baffle board broke and couldn't use stove at all. They said the manufacture was notoriously slow in responding to orders and we didn't get the baffle board until summer. Still complained about the stove not burning and they said they would get back to us. Started using the stove again when the weather started to turn cold and complained again and was told they've been having issues with that particular model and went on to say why. I also told them what the installers said about a 4 inch intake and the person said they disagreed with that assessment. Was told that she would talk with their installers and get back to us. Didn't happen. I called back a week and a half later and spoke to a different person and again gave the same complaint. She also said they were having issues with that particular model. She also said she didn't agree with the installers assessment regarding the size of the air intake. She said she would email the area rep, out of Utah and that he may come and take a look at it. She also advised they may have to replace it with a different stove. She then said she'd get back to me. Didn't happen. I called them over a week later and spoke to the same person. She didn't remember our conversation until I reminded them that they were to have sent an email to the area rep. She then said she would talk to one of the installers who was in the store and also call the area rep instead of an email, then get back to me. Didn't happen. Tried calling back but no answer. Recording said to leave a message, press 1. pressed 1 and was told that wasn't one of the options. Tried calling back the next day and recording said they would be out of the office until January. Today is 12/22/24. I know this is a lot but I want/need a warm house!!! Scott P

Nathan told us he would take care of it . Never happened. The range hood had to be installed in order for appliances and inspection could be done. After many calls and emails, we talked to Nathan in person where he accused us of lying and then said he would take care of it but it was not top priority and he would get to it. The last correspondence from Dungeness was October 11 from an employee who explained that people were sick and work backup (not our problem) and that someone would be out the following week. It is now December 9 and we still have not heard from anyone. Nathan no longer returns emails. By the way, we paid our invoice in full (our mistake) and now we are swept under the rug. Horrendous customer service. We have never been treated with such disdain from a business owner! BEWARE when you order from Dungeness Woodworks. The cabinet that were not damaged are fine. There was some overspray on some and a side strip missing on one but we can live with that. By the way-that has never been addressed either. All in all I would never recommend this company to anyone.

After meeting with several local companies we went with Chad and Keli at Strait because of their initial approach to customer service. They also offered a more turnkey experience instead of subbing out the various elements of the remodel. Everything from Keli's design suggestions and account management were great. When working with contractors communication is key. Clear communication is important for all parties involved and this is one of Strait's strengths. They proactively kept us in the loop on all timelines and flagged potential delays and offered solutions. This is a company you want to work with! Now on to the actual work. The hardwood floors in our new home are STUNNING. We love all of the materials Keli suggested and they look beautiful in our home. Every detail in the home was well thought out and the bathrooms that Strait created are also gorgeous. Straits work from the floors to the bathrooms and blinds was excellent. Because of these details our home will have that wow factor. Thank you Strait! Use this company, the customer service is amazing and the finished product speaks for itself!
