I struggled to give three stars tonight. I came here with my wife for a bit of a late dinner. We arrived around 8:00 on a Friday evening and Tequila's still had plenty of business. That notwithstanding, the service was quite inattentive. We got seated right away, but a solid 5 minutes passed before anyone else came by. That was the chip and salsa guy. Another few minutes before we met our server. We ordered drinks and food and it being a Mexican restaurant, it came fairly promptly. My plate had apparently been sitting for a few minutes. Not cold, but not as hot as it should have been. After good conversation we were through with our plates before we saw the server again. She was all too eager to bring the check and wrap up her day. I'll admit that maybe it's a bit challenging to serve people after 8 on a Friday, but that's just the nature of the biz. I'd expect full, attentive service until the last customer is out the door. We didn't come expecting high end or authentic Mexican. We did expect that the food and service would be better than Del Taco. It wasn't! The margarita was average at best tasted like a sugary mix vs house made as advertised. Ordered queso to start, it was ok but the server didn't bring any chips & the complimentary basket was almost done. I guess we really didn't need more because 2 bites in our entrees were served. The entrees a disappointment beyond the timing, I ordered a chipotle dish but it tasted like Russian salad dressing sweet and mayonnaise like not smoky & spicy. The server never checked on us dispite my plate with only 2 bites taken. Finally we flagged someone down for more chips, on the second attempt we got some. By then the queso was cold. Great food. Portions were pretty sizable. Chips came with salsa and beans. Salsa was mildly spicey with good flavor. Refried beans had cheese on top very yummy on the chips. Mexican flag enchiladas were so good. All three flavors were great. Entire family left full and happy. A little pricey but overall worth it. Rudest service I've ever experienced in Colorado, or perhaps in the US. The staff seemed to have no concept of making the guest feel like they are more than a number. And the idea that the customer is always right, as I have been trained in customer service, is totally nonexistent. I arrived with the intention of coming to happy hour for a margarita. I ordered a happy hour margarita special which was two for one 15 minutes before happy hour ended at 6 PM. I asked the bartender specifically for the special which he described to me- and he brought me only one. So I asked him to bring the other and said my sister was coming soon and would help me out. Then I handed him my credit card and expected to be charged for one margarita. Instead I got a bill for two. I had to wait another 20 minutes (now post happy hour) to tell the other bartender that the bill was wrong. About 30 minutes later he came over very belligerently to tell me that it was not Wrong and that one person had to drink both margaritas. Of course he had not mentioned this when I ordered. And in fact I was driving and two of their margaritas would've put me over the legal alcohol limit! When I asked to return the other margarita Which I hadn't touched, or alternately speak to the owner as the way he was embellishing my bar bill was inappropriate to say the least, he completely ignored me and never did anything to address my complaint - so I had to pay the bill in full. He also never offered to bring the second drink which was part of the special and in fact completely avoided eye contact there after. I wasn't going to let him ruin my night by fretting but gave him no tip and wrote on the bill that Yelp review would follow! I will never spend a penny at that place again and as Evergreen resident of 25 years, I certainly will tell my neighbors about the staff's complete arrogance. Other than the poor service, I purposely did not order food as from my recollection it was very mediocre, and there was a very bad odor coming from the restrooms by the bar which was not appetizing! read more

We saw some of the negative reviews but decided to give this place a try anyway. Unfortunately, negative reviews were warranted. The chips and salsa (and accompanying "slaw) were good, which made it frustrating that we weren't given a refill. My husband ordered the chicken taquitas, which was an appetizer. He thought it might have been okay, but he didn't really eat them, because the chicken was all dark meat. That was on us, because we know he only likes white meat, but we didn't inquire. He said his beer was nice and cold. I ordered a cheese enchilada platter. This entree would have been good, but it was cold in the middle. In fact, some of the cheese was not melted. The refried beans were nice and hot; the rice was cool. After we were finished eating, we waited for a while before the check was delivered. Overall, this place has potential. We have both dined in and picked up for lunch on numerous occasions... The margaritas are barely drinkable -- either way too sweet or way too much tequila in them. The only consistent things: the chips and salsa are good (but they charge you for an extra basket, which seems silly -- never been charged for a refill on a basket of chips at a Mexican restaurant before) and the wait staff is incredibly inattentive and careless. Every time I've visited, you must make an active effort to get a drink AT ALL, especially a refill. The last time we went was Cinco de Mayo, and though we went early and there was hardly anyone there yet for dinner, the waitress was appallingly rude. She barely spoke to us, didn't greet us except for to demand a drink order, and we had to LITERALLY flag her down waving our arms to get her attention for refills. Any time she did come to the table, it was simply to dump our shit in front of us with her back virtually turned to us and averting eye contact as though she would loathe to have to do her actual job. News flash: if you have a job, DO IT, or don't work that job -- instead of being a miserable person and negatively impacting others' experiences. We were extremely polite to her, but she seemed pissed off anyway. Food is so-so at best. I got a deluxe taco salad at the most recent visit and the toppings I paid extra for were not included but since she was so stand offish we barely got a chance to even get drinks, let alone ask for an adjustment on the check (which she tossed rudely on the table without a thank you or any parting words whatsoever). At no point did she ask about how the meal or experience was. Subpar service and food. After eating there the last time, two of the four of us felt ill afterward (now seeing these reviews, seems pretty standard for this dump -- maybe the health inspector should visit). Wouldn't return. We decided to try a new place called casa Tequilas. We sat at the bar with Jeff and his drink knowledge, menu knowledge was on point! He was friendly, hospitable, made great recommendations and took great care of us. The salsa, chips and quest delicious and if you are a fan of shredded beef it was perfect! Stopped by with a friend on an early Sunday afternoon. There were 3 other occupied tables with 3 or 4 customers at each, so not busy at all. After we ordered our food, we chatted for what seemed like FOREVER, then realized it had been an hour and 10 minutes since we'd ordered (based on a text I'd gotten right after we'd ordered). Attempts to get the waiter's attention were ignored, and we had to stop another employee to check on our food. The waiter brought it a few minutes later.....the beans and rice were ice cold, the rest was barely warm. YUCK! What little we ate was bland & soggy. We were regulars at the old location, and it was always so good, crave-worthy, even. This was really disappointing. I won't be back. read more

First time trying this restaurant. Server was nice and attentive, but the food was mediocre at best. Son ordered a veggie burrito and it had steamed, soggy veggies with no flavor. I got the tacos rancheros, which literally were 3 flour tortillas with chopped, over cooked steak, chewy and tasteless. Stopped in today with the wife to a sit down instead of pick up. First, the place did not appear as clean as it should be. Second, our wait person had trouble keeping his mask on consistently. The food was bland and just barely ok. We did not eat all of it. The wife then noticed (as she could see into the kitchen) that the cooks were not wearing masks at all. We hope we do not get sick. I have been eating at Tequilla's for years, and the food has always been served fast, hot and good, but tonight was a big disappointment. I ordered the fish tacos, and after a loooong wait, the plate arrived luke warm, so it had obviously been sitting around quite a while before the waiter brought it. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all on a Saturday evening, so I'm wondering if the quality has gone down recently. This take out was horrible. I actually sat at bar to order and gave specific instructions to leave meat out of shells because they become soggy!!! When I got home they had put one taco in dinner and one taco separate which of course left the shells soaking wet on bottom side and pretty much horrible!! Called and they politely declined to refund or do anything unless I trekked back 15 minutes to bring food back. Not first bad experience!! Would think twice about going back. I have been a fan of Tequila's since it was called Fiesta Jalisco! The ambiance is friendly, and has nice hispanic decor/design that adds to the experience. Personally, I believe that the cabbage/lettuce dip that Tequila's serves as an appetizers with the chips is to die for. It is sweet, strong and has a good hint of spice. The food is reasonably priced throughout the diverse menu, and the restaurant outsources great coupons for half-priced entrees and free margaritas. I am a fan of the Carne Asada, and the enchiladas. Given I am not 21, I cannot comment on the drinks; however, my parents are fans of the margaritas and abnormally large selection of hard alcohol. I strongly recommend the restaurant, and believe that Tequila's will continue to develop in to a premiere Mexican restaurant. read more

I have finally found my favorite Mexican restaurant..and you know that when I say something is good..it damn well is! So..lets get down to it... Chorizo Queso..must have. Fajitas - quality chicken and steak, seasoned perfectly, and the vegetables are seared and cooked perfectly - leaving them crisp and not mushy. Ohhh..and the Margaritas...soooo delicious! By far the best Mexican food I've ever had. Well, except the food in Mexico.......never mind, its as good as that too. Yum! I didn't realize there's great Mexican food in the Denver area, Evergreen nonetheless! This is not to put down Denver or Evergreen by any means... Let me give you some context: I was staying in the area for a couple days and was SHOCKED (yes, shocked in all caps and bolded too if I could) that: (1) the nearest Starbucks was a 15-minute drive! Holy smokes! How could this be? and (2) we saw a mommy bear and her two cubs in the tree when we went on a walk. Yes, it's that kind of place. So I was shocked to find Tequila's, a great Mexican restaurant, in Evergreen, where apparently bears frolick around freely but there's no Starbucks to be found within walking distance (not that there's anything wrong with that). So with that long digression, let's dive into the food. I ordered the carne asada (skirt steak), which came with the usual rice, beans and flour or corn tortillas. The skirt steak was marinated really well and cooked to perfection. I must've been famished because I cleared that plate, rice and beans and all pretty quickly. It was a no-drinking night for us; otherwise, it would've been great to taste one of the many tequilas listed on their menu. It was about 9:30pm when we dropped by (probably pretty late for dinner in the area) so there was only 1 or 2 other tables occupied, and service was super fast. The bar area was pretty busy. I was tempted to come back here the second night to get the carne asada plate again, but I suppose one has to try new things... *sigh* read more

We ate there on a whim last night, which is unusual for us since I have Celiac disease and seldom eat anywhere that hasn't been thoroughly checked out ahead of time. I was in a mood to take a chance. The staff was friendly and attentive, helping us make safe food decisions and making sure we were happy with our meal. The food was excellent - very fresh, flavorful and large portions. They have a Mexican cabbage dish that is to die for! The atmosphere was quiet, relaxing, with pleasing decor and very clean.
