My friends and I came here for brunch. We ordered a bunch of appetizers/small plates to share and 2 entrees, which our server told us would be enough food for us 5. I'd dare to say we didn't need to order as many apps as we did. All the small plates we ordered were fried. They were crispy and not greasy, which was good. Wish we had gotten an app that was more fresh or one that was vegetables. As a party of 5, it wasn't the most ideal for some of the small plates that came with 4. We ordered the paella and chicken with coconut chicken. I'd order the coconut chicken again! The paella was great except for the octopus. It was really hard to chew and I had to spit it out, which was disappointing.
I had dinner with friends that evening. My vegan gf recommended this place we could all (vegan and non-vegans) enjoy and she was spot on. I had a ginger ale from the bar made fresh and shaken up like a cocktail and it was just everything ginger ale should be. I had the catch of the day and it was salmon. The fish was moist and perfectly cooked. It was served over mashed plantains (so good!!) and some shiitake mushroom over this bowl-licking green sauce. The service was pleasant and helpful. The ambiance was very comfy and cozy although a bit too dim to read the menus (we used our phone flashlights). I enjoyed it a lot.
The food was good, the service was decent. I did feel like they were rude when I told them I was paying with the in kind app.
Friday date night dinner and this place was my pick. We sat in the back across from the bar. This place is beautifully decorated and real cozy inside. Service was a bit slow at first but they picked it up after taking our drink orders. The food was delicious, great portions. Loved the assortment of empanadas and little arepas. It really allows you to get a taste of all the flavor options. My main was delicious, the chicken was perfectly good and the rice had these sweet flavor to it. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. The drinks were just meh. But if I had to pick a favorite it would be the no sleep till Brooklyn one.
Can't imagine a better date night spot. I didn't even show the drinks but they're a highlight as well. Can't recommend Casa Ora enough.
We visited Casa Ora on a Monday that happened to be Cinco de Mayo. Although they do take reservations, it wasn't necessary that night--there was plenty of seating available. There were four of us, including two friends visiting from out of state who were craving some nostalgic Venezuelan flavors. A must-order item for us was the empanada sampler (combo of 4), and it definitely hit the spot. For entrees, we shared the Pabellón a Caballo and the Asado Negro, which came with mini arepitas. The flavors were rich but a bit too sweet--we actually filled up so quickly that we had to take the pabellón to go! Their cocktail menu looked really enticing, but we opted to skip drinks this time. The only downside was the lighting--it was very dim, which made it hard to see the menu and food clearly. Service was decent and the staff seemed well-prepared for the evening. Overall, a solid spot for a cozy Venezuelan meal with friends. Would definitely come back to try more dishes (and maybe a cocktail next time).
The place has a charming interior, and the front desk staff is very friendly. However, the waiters are quite slow; my friend and I sat unattended for a good 20-30 minutes, missing the opportunity to order more drinks during that time. The drinks are really watered down. The tuna ceviche resembled sashimi with garnishes, but the tuna itself was fresh. The empanadas are definitely worth trying; the thin dough and great filling make for a delicious bite, especially with the spicy sauce they provided. The paella was good, but they need to clean the clams more thoroughly to remove the sand. Overall, it's a decent place, but I'm not sure if I would want to go back.
I'd like to preface this with appetizers and starters here were phenomenal. We did the pre fixe and collectively got: guacamole, empanadas, ceviche, camarones, asado negro, and monkfish. Guacamole was super fresh and plantains were perfectly fried. Empanadas were surprising filling! I didn't expect to get all four (ended up taking some home). Ceviche was delicious, and the fish texture was immaculate. Camarones were tender but definitely on the salty side. The reason why I'm rating this place a three. First off, they sat us down initially in the middle of the walkway directly against their Christmas tree (despite the restaurant being mostly empty). People were brushing against us whenever they walked. We asked to swap, and thankfully, they were nice about it and brought us to the front. Now, the service afterwards was questionable. We waited over 30 minutes for our entrees and had to ask the waiter for where it was. Another waiter came by assumed that we were done eating already. We would not recommend the monkfish or the asado negro. The monkfish texture was almost disintegrated in the roll, and it was just a confusing, mushy dish that didn't taste like anything. The asado negro was incredibly sweet and headache inducing. We ended up taking these home and shared them with our friends. The sentiment was the same. Overall, the appetizers were amazing, but the entrees and service were subpar. I guess I might come again in the future and hopefully have a better experience.
This spot has been on my radar for a while now and today and today my husband surprised me with a brunch reservation today and it definitely lived up to the hype. First things first - the decor and ambience are 10 out of 10 gorgeous. The restaurant has a back room with a sky light in the center that just brightens up the whole space, it's pretty picturesque. We started with drinks: ~ Lime in the coconut - 7.5/10 (Tasted like an acidic pina colada) ~ Brooklyn No More - 8.5/10 (The grapefruit and gin worked SO well) Then we had an order of the empanadas for a starter and for our mains an order of the cachapas and the arepa andina. We LOVED the empanadas. They were perfectly crispy and came stuffed with 4 different fillings. The beef and the cheese were our faves. The mains were super flavorful but I must say the arepa was more of a sweet biscuit texture. If I were to come back I'd try another item. All in all, I can't wait to return and try more drinks and appetizers on the menu.
Came here for Easter Dinner with family and friends. I saw the great reviews and it was close to home so I figured we'd give it a shot. I also had a discount with InKind so that also sweetened the pot. We had 5:30 reservations. Didn't realize they only open up at that time. Don't come even a few minutes early because you won't be let in before then. Inside was beautiful. A warm, sleek, classic, tropical feel. We were a party of 5 so they sat us at the round table in the middle under the sky light. So cozy. This review is really 4 1/2 stars, not 4. I took away a half star because of the service. It was not friendly and kind of robotic. It wasn't disastrous, but I just got the vibe that they didn't even want to be there. Started off with Mandocas. They are corn doughnuts that come with queso blanco and nata. Wasn't sure what Nata was but it's butter made from raw milk. It was delicious! We wound up only dipping the light and fluffy Mandocas in only that. I'm a passion fruit junkie so Venezuelan food is usually my go-to for that. Their passion fruit juice was so fresh and yummy. Could have drank gallons of it! I had the salmon for my main. It comes seared with garlic, parsley, Yucca puree, kale oil, charred broccolini & shimeji & Shiitake Mushroom. Oh my gosh, this was the BEST salmon that I've ever had at a dining establishment or pretty much anywhere! PERFECTLY cooked, nice portion and everything it came with went deliciously well. Extremely satisfying. For dessert I had the Mousse de Parchita, a.k.a., passion fruit mousse. The flaky sea salt on top was interesting, but I could have done without it. Even with that, it was still amazing. Heavy on the passion fruit taste, light and creamy. The perfect ending to a fantastic meal. It's a bit pricey, but I definitely wouldn't mind spending money to come here again and again! The bill for 2 people was about $155. I also suggest not using the InKind app here because it took FOREVER to load our receipt. When it finally did, I clicked on something and again waited forever to that to load. Total time waster and not woth it at all. They put an automatic gratuity on bills for parties of 5+. Even if your bill is split. It's so easy to get to (L train is 3 blocks away) and with amazing food/drinks, I'll be sure to make my way back again!
Caracas de noche is not only a drink, but the vibe that Casa Ora drips of. Their menu gives you the best of Caraqueño street food and traditional Venezuelan flavors with an elevated twist. The tequeños are a must for the table! Other standouts included their Maitake, a unique mushroom dish that could convert any meat eater, and the Red Snapper with its bright citrus caviar. Every point of service from greeting to salutation was warm and welcoming even with a packed house. Gracias por una noche llena de nostalgia y sabor. Love, your Grecavenezolana!
Ambience. It feels like you're eating in an upscale living room. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a medium size bar so good if you want to grab a quick bite or eating alone. Service: excellent This might be controversial, but their drink menu looks better than their food menu. The drinks were outstanding and well priced for the quality. Our favorite was Brooklyn or nowhere, starting lineup, Caribbean Queen (crowd favorite). They also do towers that serves 10-12 people but in reality it's a lot more. Food: arepitas, empanadas, hallaca are must orders for street food/appetizers. The other street food options were good but average. We love the salmon, pabellon and steak. But I would definitely go back for drinks and street food. Great for dates, girls night out, large parties. Would definitely go back.
Had been wanting to come to Casa Ora since I saw their bon appetit video a good while back. This is definitely a space more conducive to smaller parties, as most of the seating doesn't fit more than four. That being said, I came with a friend to catch up and celebrate an early birthday with a nice meal. We came on a Monday and had a reservation but probably could have been seated without one on this day. The cocktail menu here is pretty extensive and I was curious about a number of drinks. They have a limited number of seats at the bar which could be a good time in the future if I wanted to catch up with a girlfriend. I don't recall the name of the cocktail I chose but will say that it was very heavy on the crushed ice. We shared all the food items: arepitas, hallaca, yucca fries, and pabellon a caballo and it was more than enough for two. Everything was good, but I personally wasn't blown away by any of the dishes. The sauces, however, were really good, particularly the green (avocado-based?) one. The servers and staff were very kind, but perhaps they were a bit understaffed because they came around a tad infrequently.

Get the chicken!! I went with my friends and we tried a good amount of food. The service was great and they were accommodating. We were sat in the back on these 2 small round tables put together to fit 4... it felt so awkward we had all these gaps between our tables. they kindly let us switch to a regular rectangle table. Appetizers 4/5 - Their arepitas and empanadas are great. I hate cheese so I only had the black bean filled empanada and the shredded pork arepa. Get their guacamole and plantain chips - the chips were perfect. Drinks 5/5 - I got a spicy passion fruit margarita and it was so good that I got a second one, and my friend tried the tamarind one. We both like the passion fruit better, it was a bit sweeter than the tamarind. Entrees: Pollo 5/5 - my favorite part of the dinner. The bed of rice is perfectly seasoned and has shreds of chicken mixed in as well. I didn't try the actual chicken breast. I'm coming back just for this dish. Salmon 4/5 - juicy tender salmon, but I was not a fan of the flavors of the mushroom under the fish. Very tangy. My friend liked the broccolini. Asada Negro 4/5 - portioned for 2, very filling! The arepas came out hot. The pork is so tender and easy to fork over into the arepa. Overall: Service: 5/5 (our server was so friendly and attentive) Food: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Very filling for 4 very hungry people. read more

A beautiful Venezuelan restaurant located in Williamsburg. Staff were friendly and dining experience was amazing. A great place to sit down and catch up with friends. The food was amazing. Arepitas, empanadas, scallops, and bollitos were shared. The arepas came in bite sizes and in four different flavors, chicken salad & queso blanco, shredded beef & cheddar, shredded pork, curry mayo & tomato, black beans, avocado & cheddar. My favorite was the shredded. pork, curry mayo and tomato. Empanadas were SO CRIPSY. Loved them. They came in four flavors as well, shredded beef, shredded chicken, guayanese cheese, and black bean. My favorite was the guyanese cheese because I absolutely love cheese. Having four different types of flavors for both the arepitas and empanadas was very enjoyable and we were so happy with all the flavors. Bollitos pelones are dumplings that came with impossible meat in a tomato sauce. For the scallops, it came with potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Favorite entree is the grilled scallops because of its juicy smokey flavor and crispy texture. For drinks, we had Tio Simon and Brooklyn or Nowhere. Tio Simon is more on the refreshing side while Brooklyn or Nowhere is citrusy. Amazing. Please try! read more

RARE GEM IN NYC!!! Casa Ora is an amazingly curated space with beautiful decor, amazing cocktails, and mouth-watering dishes. I came to celebrate my birthday and it was simply amazing. The dishes are delectable and you can taste the love that's poured into every dish. The service was impeccable. I'm a native New Yorker and I've eaten at quite a few establishments and I can safely say that this spot is an absolute must. Also love the fact that this is a family run business. Will definitely be back. read more

I came here during the pandemic when it had just opened and food was good, nothing over the top. But when I visited again (2024) wow ! Everything was just amazing. We had the cachapitas, the shrimp, paella and scallops! Everything was so tasty and full of flavor. The service was good and the space is very romantic. I can not wait to return! read more

This place was great and the service was amazing. We went on a Thursday at 6pm and it was pretty empty. There was a very intimate setting. The decor looked great. The food was amazing. We had arepitas and they were the bomb. My husband had the brisket and I had the snapper. They were both soooo good. Sorry for the half eaten pics. We couldn't wait to dig in after the arepitas. Im not much of a drinker but the drinks were pretty good. I had the lime in the coconut. Could use a little less ice. Lastly, the cuatro leches. I wanted to love it but it was a no for me. Especially when I can make amazing tres leches myself. My husband was so disappointed because he's gotten used to me making tres leches and having it moist with the milk. This just tasted like cake with a weird after taste but next time we will try the flan. read more

I loved the ambiance of the place! The interior gave me a cozy and intimate vibe which I think is perfect for either catching up with a friend or a potential date night spot. My friend and I shared the arepas as an appetizer and for our main dishes we got the red snapper and the pollo dish. If you are looking for a light dish then I think the red snapper is perfect. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce made it even better. The pollo dish was just as great, but the rice definitely filled me up quickly lol. I highly recommend this place and would go back again. read more

The short rib was the best item on the menu. Every bite was full of so much flavor. We went there with a large party and ordered two orders or the fixed price menu and the rest of us ordered individual meals. Our favorite part was the short rib, the guacamole, and the ceviche. I really enjoyed the shrimp appetizer and the salmon. The waiter pointed out that the salmon is wild caught which I appreciated. If you are coming with a large group I would definitely suggest ordering plates to share. We definitely ordered too much and had a ton to take home. The drinks were amazing, they had a lot of specialty drinks to choose from and everyone was happy with their order. read more
Came here for a friend's birthday and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the experience was. From the minute I stepped foot in the restaurant, I was greeted by friendly staff. The interior is decorated tastefully and beautifully and it wasn't too crowded either (important criteria for NYC). I ordered arepas with pork and they were absolutely delicious. Warm, soft, and flavorful, and they paired nicely with the two sauces. Would definitely come back again just for the arepas. read more
Came here for a birthday dinner in June. The restaurant is beautiful and well designed. Servers were very kinda and patient. Considering we had 10 people arriving all at different times, it was great to see the servers be understanding with us. For appetizers we pre ordered different assortments. I had the vegan empanadas, which were amazing! They had impossible beef inside, and were so yummy. For my main course I had the Maitake. Which was an assortment of mushrooms, with almonds and greens. Although it was delicious, I do wish it came with something more like rice or potatoes. The meal itself wasn't that filling. Tbh I could've eaten the vegan empanadas all night and been more full. However, overall experience was pretty good! Oh and the drinks were great too! read more

As soon as i walked in i saw that Casa Ora has a Michelin Star 2021 sticker so i was only expecting greatness and that's what we got throughout our dinning experience. I tried Casa Ora with a couple of my friends around 1:30pm on a Sunday. We made reservations before hand. Since it was brunch time we started off with some Bellinis and of course i had to try the fresh squeezed Orange juice. We had a few appetizers because everything on the menu looked delicious. The guacamole and chips was great, as well as the Venezuelan tamale and arepitas which brought 4 different ones. For entree i got the Cachapa and it did not disappoint. This was my first time at a Venezuelan restaurant and the food/ vibes was fantastic. read more

Not only is this place super cute, but the food was amazing! I made brunch reservations for 3 of my friends and I, on a Saturday, and our experience was great. Let me note that we were running late and they had no issue giving us an extra 30 minutes to arrive; which was so appreciated! As soon as you enter, you are greeted by friendly faces and a beautifully decorated space. I specially loved the decor and layout of the back of the restaurant. The food did not disappoint! We started off with a few appetizers, like the guac, arepitas and tamales. All of them were so flavorful! For mains, they had many delicious options to choose from, but I got the pabellón a caballo. Although it was good, I could not finish it because I got full from the apps! The drinks were also very tasty! read more
I wish I could give this restaurant 10 stars!! Everything was excellent from the decor to the food to the perfect service (Laura was out waiter and she was exceptional). We decided to go with street foods tonight and ordered guacamole and Arepitas to share. The guac was super fresh and served with plantain chips which I loved. The Arepitas were perfect to share ( 4 came in an order, chicken, beans, pork and beef) also very flavorful and paired with 2 different sauces. We also ordered the ceviche because it's something we love to order at different restaurants and compare them. The ceviche at Ora was BOMB! Over the top delicious and the flavors were amazing. The acidity of the oranges in combination with the freshness of the fish and avocado was excellent. Now the drink.... I am a light drinker so that being said I found this drink super strong and unable to drink however Nick thought it was great. By this time we had no room for main dishes. Casa Ora was amazing and we can't wait to come back with friends and family. read more

Came here on Valentine's Day 2024 expecting good food and classy ambiance. The food was decent but unfortunately I can't comment on much else. We had to wait over an hour for our table. When we did get one, we were seated outside (we had requested an indoor table and were even told we would get one, only to find out that our table was given to another party due to miscommunication). The table outdoors was one of the three that did NOT have a working heat lamp, and it was freezing! They had just one poor girl in the front fielding tons of customers and complaints. Our waitress also took forever to come, and didn't take our order until we specifically asked for her. The food also took a while to come, and in the end we ended up packing one course to go because it was so late at night. All in all, a not so nice V day experience. read more
I went to Casa Ora from the advisory of a friend who told me it was tasty. I was lucky enough to get into one of their family dinner sessions. The staff was super friendly and very understanding about my delinquent guest. The service was impeccable from the time I walked in the door. I was shown a lovely seat in the main dining room towards the back and was given a menu. I ordered some fresh plantain chips while I waited. They were fantastically fresh, crisp, and warm. I saw some others with the guacamole, but I decided against it since I would already be struggling to consume 3 courses. When my friend showed up we ordered some drinks and they too were fantastic. The peligroso is very peligroso/dangerous!! I was tipsy from the one drink. It comes in a smaller glass, but it still packs a punch. Now the food.... Each course arrived in enough time to enjoy the offering while receiving the next course with the chance to sample them together. We ended up taking half of the food home (we were so full)! The stand outs during the meal were the empanadas, the crispy, well seasoned chicken, and that amazing mushrooms sauce..... ugggghhhh, so delicious! Thank you, Casa Ora and Resy, we will see you again soon. read more

Walking in to Casa Ora is a pleasant surprise. The Brooklyn hole in the wall opens up into an elongated dining room full of portraits, natural decor and jewel toned couches. The dining room is dim lit with a mix of round tables, couches and benches. Good mix for any occasion. I was thankful and fortunate enough to try their Family Meal Menu. While everything was cooked well, I did not find myself overwhelmed with adoration for the dishes. I did enjoy the sweet plantain purée and the brisket was cooked very well- but nothing stood out so much that I would need to come back immediately. Same with the drinks. The ingredients are fresh, presentation is great , everything is cooked well...just missing a sparkle and a little bit of flavor. The service was fantastic as well. I may come back because maybe it was the dishes I had or I'll enjoy another menu items. read more
I was lucky to get a reservation here during their Mi Casa Es Tu Casa family meal event! I'm not super familiar with Venezuelan food so I was super excited to try their fixed menu. My friend and I got started with drinks- I got a coconut flavored one while she got an aperol drink. Both were pretty good! The meal started off with 4 empanadas- chicken, beef, cheese and black beans. They were perfectly cooked to be very crispy with the interior still tender. My favorite had to be the chicken, but the real star of the show was the green herbal sauce it came with. Really upgraded the empanadas! The second course was a black bean soup, which I can't say I enjoyed past the first few bites. I thought it was a bit slimey, but for an off-menu item I don't hold it against this restaurant. The last course was the chicken! At this point I was pretty full from the empanadas and bean soup, but this dish was still pretty good! It comes with a piece of dark chicken meat over a bed of shredded chicken and rice. I thought the piece of chicken was good, but wish the rice with shredded chicken wasn't as soft and had a bit more texture. Overall: had a good time here with the family meal event! I think some of the food wasn't within my normal food preferences so I had a hard time enjoying everything, but would be happy to try other things on the menu if I'm in the area! read more

Casa Ora is a beautifully decorated Venezuelan restaurant located conveniently off the L train. A friend and I came by for Casa Ora's 3 course vegan menu and were blown away with what we were served. To start, were brought plantains, fried to perfection, topped with one of the most flavorful guacamoles I've had in a while. Then we were Brough dumplings made with corn and impossible meat. They were- Wow. Whatever was in that sauce was amazing. I would put it on everything if I could! The dumplings themselves were great too and very filling. Last, we were brought a dish made of mushrooms and greens. These mushrooms were juicy, seasoned well, and meaty in texture. So great. Everything was seasoned perfectly and we were very impressed with the meal. Besides the food, Casa Ora has great cocktails, friendly staff and a beautiful interior. The interior of the restaurant is full of greenery and reminds me of a rainforest. I recommend to everyone and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more
A beautiful spot in east Williamsburg with highly memorable Venezuelan food. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and I would definitely come here again. We ordered the pollo with rice, arepitas, and scallops. Arepitas are a must. For dessert, we had the tres leches cake and rum flan. The flan was amazing but I've had a better tres leches cake at other places. read more

My partner really wanted to take me here after having amazing empanadas last time he dined here when a comedy spot nearby was closed for the day--but I found it underwhelming. Maybe it was just an off experience. The empanadas were not crisp and hot enough for me, the fillings were a bit bland; the plaintain chips served with the guacamole was too burnt; and the pabellon (brisket) was really dry. For cocktails, we got the Peligroso and Penicillin, neither packed a punch in flavor and weren't really memorable. read more
This was my first time trying Casa Ora and I came here for their promotional Mi Casa Es Tu Casa family meal. It was a 3-course meal: empanadas, sopa de caraota (black bean soup), and pollo and rice. Quality/taste: Everything was so good and delicious!! Our meal started off with 4 different empanadas (beef, chicken, cheese, and black bean). My favorite was the beef and black bean. The outside crust/pouch of the empanada was SO GOOD and perfectly crisp - not too hard or soft. The texture was amazing and the 2 sauces that they brought out with the empanadas made it taste so much better!! I could have drank those sauces. We also ordered an additional app - the ceviche, which was amazing as well. Best ceviche I've ever had thus far! The portion for it was really small for the price though. The 2nd course was the black bean soup with caramelized coconut milk. I've never had black bean soup before so this was a new dish to me and I honestly don't even like beans generally but this soup was so good!! They amount given was just right, not too little or much. It could have been hotter in temperature but it's okay. It came with avocado and some crust crumbs(?), and it was really good. Our 3rd course was the chicken and rice. I really liked the rice although, the chicken was a tad bit too dry. The dish was overall really good though and very flavorful. I also tried a drink but I forgot what it was called (I think there was grapefruit or pineapple juice in it) but it was also really enjoyable. Strong drink and delicious, but the amount given was kind of small for the price paid ($16). Service: Great service. Our server was very nice and quick. They were also really accommodating to my dietary needs even though it was stated as "no substitutions" to the meal since it was a fixed menu. Our waters were always immediately filled if it was even half full and finished plates were immediately taken off the table. I would give the service 5 stars! Environment: Really cozy and contemporary spot. I LOVED the ambiance of the restaurant and the colors and style they incorporated to design. It made the meal relaxing and easily enjoyable. It was very dimly lit inside though, just as a heads up to anyone who doesn't like that! Price: $$$ Kind of pricey but worth it in my opinion. Drinks were on average $15-20 each and apps were around $15 each. Overall, great quality meal and service. I would def come back and recommend to anyone looking for good Venezuelan food! read more

We don't understand why this place has a Michelin Star. Overrated and nothing to miss out on unless you appreciate over salted and heavy food that won't sit well in your stomach. Portions are huge and can be shared between two people. We aren't heavy eaters. We felt misled by the waitress's recommendations and over ordered. We liked the ceviche and arepitas. It was just ok. We should have trusted our gut and should not have ordered two huge entrees after ordering 3 appetizers- partly our fault! We felt bad because a lot of food were wasted. The only good thing here is the ambiance and the staff. read more

I came to Casa Ora due to a special Jan. promotion deal. I really admire their restaurants dedication to give back to their workers and it really reflects in their overall service. We felt so welcomed from the moment we walked in. From our hostess to our waitress, everyone was so friendly. The empanadas set (4 in total) was delicious. My personal favorite was the beef and cheese. I also highly recommend their yucca fries. I was surprised by their chicken entree dish. The chicken was just a bit dry, but it is chicken breast...so it's a expected. The flavor of the rice accompanied the flavors and the textures of the chicken very well. I also recommend their flan for dessert. It wasn't too sweet, but definitely very dense. Thank you for the amazing experience Casa Ora! read more
Came here for the Casa Ora free meal special and the service was incredible. Our waiter was really nice and had many recommendations for us. I'm vegan and they accommodated me really nicely. The food is to die for. The mushroom sauce is so good over the rice and the empanadas are simply the best I've ever had and I'm Colombian which really means something haha! The sauces are phenomenal. This review is based on the end of my good and friend and I dinner experience. Upon arrival everyone was very friendly. The Ceviche was to die for. I ordered the chicken, it came with rice. Kinda a deconstructed arroz con pollo it came with mushroom sauce. Frankie ordered the brisket it was not that great. The food overall from 1-10 I would give it a 7. I had an issue towards the end. We were done eating and declined dessert, 5 minutes after we were told that they needed the table. That was very rude. It's not like we were just sitting their chatting. Nor, was a time limit for the table stated making the reservation. Our bill was about $170.00 for 2 entries one appetizer and 3 cocktails. That's without tip. Although we were rushed from our table, we left a generous tip. Not sure if I would return. A restaurant should not rush their patrons for a table, especially when we just finished eating... read more

Pleasantly surprised by the empanadas, not as much the sopa de caraota (black bean soup) or pollo (chicken breast with crispy rice), aka the January prefix...The empanadas (shredded beef, shredded chicken, Guayanés cheese, black bean) were nice and warm and had a good texture to them. Unfortunately, the meal went downhill after this course. The black bean soup was bland and lukewarm but not bad. The chicken dish was a bit disappointing, to be honest. Not only was the chicken breast just a strip of breast, it tasted gamey, and the rice was not crispy at all. My Peligroso cocktail was decent in taste but not as spicy as advertised. Ambiance and staff were both nice, though indoor tables were a little too close for my preference. Overall, 3 stars, but I'll round up to 4. read more
Casa Ora, mah goodness! Ivo and team take pride in their Venezuelan culture and that shines through in their food and the overall restaurant vibe. Food: Great insight into Venezuelan cuisine (with a twist). The food was delicious and extremely flavorful! We opted for a bunch of starters and smallest bites for our party of 3 in order to get a good feel for the food. You must order the Bolleros Pelones - that was hands down my favorite. Drink: Solid. Had two cocktails; 6 between the 3 of us. Asked Ivo to make me something... they were all awesome. Atmosphere: Completely on point. Such a beautifully crafted interior including dim lighting and a very good play list. The space is intimate and slightly sectioned off from each other. The bar looks like a lot of fun, but the real gem is the back room. That vibe... and that lamp! You'll know what I'm talking about. If I absolutely had to find a thing or two at all that I wasn't 100% fond of, it would have been: a) maybe a better seat in the house? We were literally the first party to arrive on a Wednesday night. Thinking we could basically be seated just about anywhere in this beautiful restaurant, we definitely were... aaaand we were seated facing the monitors/working station and the kitchen area - arguably the least desirable table in the house. I mean, we're not THAT bad looking. b) bathroom could use a touch of tlc. Not dirty by any means... although, they have Meyers hand soap. If Yelp had a 10 point system, Casa Ora would get a 9, however, out of 5, they're teetering on a 4.5... and since they're doing real good things, they've got it from me. read more

Do they require men to wear pants?
Doesn't have to be pants, it can be shorts, dress, skirt, whatever floats your boat. Just don't go commando. No Pooh bears allowed.
Does this place have happy hour?
I don't think so- I was there for dinner and the wine was quite expensive for cheap brands. (per glass)
