If you want homemade authentic Mexican food in Berkeley with a touch of class, Casa Latina is your go to. It's a little more expensive but the feels, the taste, and the quality is worth it. Even the traditional panderia inside the restaurant had me drooling when I ordered my Nopalitos tacos, some of the best I've ever had too and they ain't skimping and you're getting legit Oaxaca cheese! When taking a look at the menu they have some of the best traditional offerings and a very Popular Mole too! lots of yummy choices to choose from. The Ambience consists of a home feel with traditional and cozy accents that are well represented. Service was delightful from one of the main gals - they give you a number and bring your food to the table. This was my second visit and enjoyed it as well. On my way out I had to hit up the self-serve bakery with a fresh espresso for the road. Gracias!

I don't know what this is, but it felt like a chocolate chip cookie, IT was so yummy!!

I fell in LOVE! I had a sweet tooth and wanted some pastries, so we pulled over at this CUTE lil spot, when I walked in I felt the warmness of this place, the lady behind the counter was the sweetest! I grabbed a couple of pastries and 2 Hot Chocolate because it was cold outside. Can I just say; EVERYTHING I placed on the platter and she packed into the bag was DELICIOUS!! Talking about it makes me want to go back, but I know if the pastries were good, we will have to circle back to try the food. The ambiance in there was CUTE! I have yet and when I say YET, I mean I have YET to walk in to a CUTE restaurant, go into the BATHROOM and fall in love with their bathroom, I mean call me silly, but go take a detour into that bathroom and you will know exactly what I'm talking about! Clean and smells GOOD! 10/10- A definite MUST try if you're in the area.

Mexican food is my top 3 favorite food. It's all about the meat and how savory the meat tastes AND the salsa/sauces. So..... The carne asada and barbacoa.... Hella tastes like Mexico City street food!!! Hands down... The best most savory meats! Nachos, tacos- SMACKS!!! I'm planning my next repeated returns to try majority of their menu. They said the family is from Jalisco. Chill ambiance, clean bathroom, quick service. Oh! The margarita... I don't even like margaritas and my fam said it's bomb so I tried it and daaang they are generous with that tequila and it's tasty AF! Not too sweet at all. Chicken tamal- the masa is so moist, chicken is perfectly cooked. The sauce is a tad bit spicy & very tasty.

I found out about Casa Latina through a friend and I'm really glad I did. So far I've only tried their desserts, and wow. both the Leche Flan and the Tres Leches cake were incredible. The flan was one of the best I've ever had. It was super silky with a perfect texture and just the right amount of sweetness. The Tres Leches cake was also great--super moist with a nice touch of strawberry flavor and a few real strawberries scattered in. The cinnamon was a little strong for my taste, but it was still really good. They've got a small bakery inside with cookies, cakes, and other classic Mexican treats. I haven't tried their carrot cake yet but it's definitely on my list. The vibe inside is cozy and a little rustic, with a casual charm that makes you want to hang out for a bit. There's also a full menu with espresso drinks, breakfast, tacos, burritos, and Latin American dishes. I haven't tried the food yet but it all looks promising. Parking is street only, but it hasn't been too hard to find a spot since the area isn't super busy. Highly recommend checking this place out, especially for their desserts. I'll definitely be back to try more.

I ordered from here this past weekend bc I was too lazy to cook and my boyfriend was coming over lol I ordered the guacamole and chips and shrimp ceviche as well as the chicken Mole burrito and all of it was AMAZING. I ate the entire burrito on my own (bf doesn't like mole for some reason lol) but he devoured the ceviche and guacamole and chips ;) a must try!!!

THIS place here, is the BEST MEXICAN FOOD I've had. It was AMAZING!! Love the decor, the drinks, the service. I didn't get to try the dessert or pastries. Next time.

Expensive and underwhelming experience. The Platos Grande were not worth the price point unfortunately, many of us left still hungry. The Barbacoa was undersalted, the Carne Asada was chewy, and the Carnitas was a bit tough and oversalted. It was extremely disappointing how the majority of the proteins came out warm, not hot. The Tacos de Plaza were definitely the best items we got, with Al Pastor being the tastiest one. Not worth coming back

LOVE this place! The interior is beautiful and they have pan dulce you can take to go as well. The pupusas are a bit on the pricier side but def a place worth checking out if you are in the area

    Chipotle Chicken Torta
    Carlos R.

I've been here several times and have enjoyed it every time. This past weekend, I had the Chipotle Chicken Torta along with some pan dulce--both were excellent! The flavors are always spot on, and everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. If I had one small suggestion, it would be about the carnitas. I tried them in a burrito on a previous visit and found myself wishing they were a bit crispier. Don't get me wrong--they were still tasty! Just not quite as standout as some of the other amazing options on the menu.

Nachos, pupusa, plátanos con frijoles and Oaxaca cheese and the chicken flautas!
    Jacque R.

The food was delicious! I e ordered a pupusa, plátanos, flautas and nachos and we were satisfied with it all! The service was excellent welcoming and was patient when ordering. Absolutely love the ambiance, the art and choices of where we can sit. Will be going back again.

    Daniela J.

Had a nice brunch here today with a friend and our kids. It's a nice casual vibe so easy to bring kids that need to constantly run around a bit. You order at the front when you walk in and then find a table. It was easy to get a table around noon on Sunday. I ordered the breakfast enchiladas with chorizo and they were delicious. I likes the side of beans but thought the potatoes could have been more spiced. I definitely want to come back and try more things.

Hot and cold drinks together are the best of both worlds. It could be snowing outside and I'd still get a cold beverage. Love the clay mugs the hot chocolate came in. It kept hot while I focused on my marg. I thought I'd be able to body my plate because i was so hungry, but I ended up taking a sope home for leftovers, which was just as delicious the next day. Something really nice happened here. Apparently my margarita tasted too much like lime to who I assume is the owner, and he came by my table with another margarita on the house. That was thoughtful and something my friend and I really appreciated because who doesn't like a free drink? But seriously, it's the customer service behind serving something up to a standard that one feels confident in that really stood out. This looks like a popular spot. I still feel that way, but recently I reserved a table for 4 and two things really stuck in my mind negatively after spending the evening there that wanted to alert the restaurant to. I worked in restaurants for 15 years so I know not every day is your best, and that getting things right is the first priority, not schmoozing, so this isn't about friendliness. The server was fine in terms of checking up on us, but didn't engage our request for recommendations for dinner or wine; no biggie, but when the check came she a) didn't mention that the tip was included, and my generous boyfriend (who wanted to snag the card and pay quickly without letting others get a chance) would have tipped another $80 had I not gotten up from the table and asked whether tip was included. On large checks the server should tell the group immediately not to worry about calculating the tip, and still act like she is earning it by taking good care of the table, refilling wine glasses when we ordered a bottle, etc. what really got me though was when we requested -- she didn't offer-- the remaining food on the table to go, she came with two piles of boxes and put them on the edge of the table. Again, my no-fuss boyfriend said he didn't mind packing the food up, but I think if you spend $450 on a dinner they could at least offer to neatly pack the food to go. It's a chore that I want to leave at home, plus it can be messy. It annoyed me a lot that the money we spent didn't seem to be appreciated and we had to basically clean up our table at the end. Not a good service night. Can you make it a policy to at least offer to pack the food? Comal isn't that type of pandemic restaurant that drops customer service in favor of pretend hygiene, and I just wonder if the standards are slipping or it was just a one off
