I have lived in the area for 26 years and have passed Casa many times. The lot was always crowded and I thought they must be pretty special. Well I finally visited Casa last night and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I want a restaurant to welcome me and make me feel they are glad to see me and make me feel at home. That's what I got from my visit. Casa is cozy and they do not try to impress you with décor. It is comfy, warm, clean and inviting and the staff is friendly. Its' like going to Aunt Marion's for a Sunday dinner. And the food....ah, the food! A bowl of Zuppa de Clams was plentiful and tasty - enough for 3 of us. And good dippin' for the fresh warm bread served. We had chicken francais, shrimp and scallops over linguini and these yummy ravioli bundles - short rib ravioli. OMG - the ravs were so delicious and the seafood was fresh and delish and the chicken moist and tender. The pasta was cooked just right. Our waitress was delightful, friendly and helpful. I am so happy to give a good review to a restaurant that works for it and deserves it. Way to go CDP. We will be back! read more

Casa De Pasta is a traditional Italian restaurant that goes the extra mile with superior food and service. Located in Randolph, NJ, this hidden gem will win you over on your very first visit. Upon my arrival, I noted the parking lot was rather large for this mid-sized restaurant. The exterior of the Casa seems a little dated, but you'll feel right at home once you step inside. The very polite hostess took my wife and I to our table. Along the way, we noted the interior is very calm and relaxing, and maintained a romantic feel, like a true Italian establishment. The wait time was moderate, but the waitress timed the appetizer-to-entree transition perfectly. During this process, our glasses were never empty, a result from the very attentive staff. For my entree, I ordered the standard Baked Ziti, and my wife ordered the Shrimp Matteo. Both were absolutely exceptional. I recommend Casa De Pasta for your next Italian experience. I gave this restaurant two stars mostly due to my meal and not the rest of my family. I emailed the restaurant ahead of time to see about their gluten free options. They had penne pasta or cheese ravioli for gluten free options. I chose the ravioli. If you need to be gluten free I would advise not to go here. I got a total of 7 ravioli's for my dinner in a marina sauce. The ravioli's appeared to be frozen because they were all so identical and tasted like frozen ones I have made at home. I was really disappointed in the quantity of food for the ravioli. The raviolis were standard size at best and not even enough for an appetizer let a lone a dinner. My wife ordered the lasagna and it was a generous portion. I was really surprised by how little food I received. Overall, the atmosphere is nice and my kids' meals were okay. My daughter ordered the kids chicken strips and they looked good (much larger portion than my adult ravioli meal. My son ordered the kids pizza and it was a little over cooked. The bottom line is I won't be going back because my meal was bad. If you don't have to be gluten free this is a nice restaurant with good Italian food. read more

This local rest. Is well tucked away if it was not recommended by one of the locales, would have never found it. This rest is definitely dated with some structures that are still original from time it was built. When I first walked in the place smelled a bite musty but the smell went away as soon as you walk into the main dinning room. The food tasted ok, definitely can I occasionally come back for friendly services. I will try other dishes in the future and update my opinion of the joint. Stay tune. read more

I hadn't been to Casa De Pasta in years, probably since High school and that was a decent amount of time ago. So when a friend recommended going there I was hesitant, not because the food was bad or I had heard bad thing, because I didn't remember the food. Which if its not good enough to remember there's probably a reason why. So we got a table for 4 and checked out the menu and specials. filet mignon marsala was probably the most interesting item there, I was very tempted to try it, but I couldn't tell if it was a culinary genius idea or a dish set up to fail as on overcook filet is just a sin. So I went with a more reserve option of the veal saltimbocca. The food did take a while to come out, so much so that the staff apologized. I got my dish and It was pretty good, I like the veal with the prosciutto it had a good taste. I even tried a friend of mines dish with some sausage which has some nice spice blended into the meat. As for the staff and from what I read from other reviews, I found them friendly. Our waitress was nice and the hostess made some jokes, and even when she came by to apologize for the wait she lightened the mood commenting of some previous things we joked about earlier. I don't think anyone was rude or discourteous to us so by my standards it what I would expect. All in all, I found the prices to be a little high for what you get, the food was good and the service was friendly. It's on par with what you would expect from a little family owned restaurant in a rural town. read more

Had a wonderful dining experience here. We went on a Thursday night and didn't realize that they were having a dinner special - a four course meal for $20.99 it was wonderful. I started with a salad with the blue cheese that was amazing - - there was so much blue cheese on it definitely worth the $1 up charge. Then as an appetizer I had the stuffed mushrooms - they were so delicious! Giant mushrooms stuffed with breading and sausage - a meal in itself. For an entree I had the Shrimp Matteo. It was amazing - dumb shrimp over spinach with melted cheese and prosciutto on top. The portions were so big that I took most of my entree home and made shrimp and eggs for the family for breakfast. Desert was a perfectly sized ice cream sundae. A great deal and a great value. read more

I've been here twice with friends and once with family and I have found the food to be consistently delicious. Although some may find the rustic style outdated or seemingly in need of a bit of pizzazz, I actually appreciate the coziness of the "lodgey" interior. Sure, perhaps a little tweaking of the inside wouldn't hurt, but personally, all is well for me ambience-wise. There is always warm, fresh bread provided, as well as carafes of water, and the wine list is suitable. I enjoyed a Tia Maria coffee after dinner on one occasion and it was very good! I recommend the cannelloni and the short rib ravioli, as both are exquisite. I give ONLY THREE STARS because with service, I've found the experience to be hit or miss. I've either had a waitress who was amazingly friendly and accommodating, or a somewhat gruff and not-so-present waitress. I don't want to have to throw the dice on what kind of service I'll receive when I am out to relax and enjoy a nice dinner. I can see myself giving Casa another shot but it is not high on my list of priority Italian restaurants at this point in time, since there are other local options where I don't have to gamble on the standard of customer service. read more

Very old place - the inside is provably original (198?) and the waitress (same as our first time 6 months ago) was just not happy to be there...again - her plain unhappy demeanor was the same. She wasn't nasty but certainly not one of the 'friendly' talkative (and surely not smiling) variety. Good bread, minuscule salads, average pasta and sauce, just below average service (speed, updated, smiles...) but our entrees were just ok and Jersey has thousands of options as does NYC. This is my comfort zone. I love Casa de Pasta. I've been coming here for about 20 years and stopped in the other night with the family after a long hiatus (that won't happen again!). The warm greeting at the door from my favorite hostess of all time reminded me that I was home. Stop at the bar before you sit down for a cocktail or a glass of wine (the generous wine pour reminds me of being a a family members house). Decor hasn't changed in years and I wouldn't touch a thing. Warm bread at the table and a tasty blue cheese dressing on my salad to start. I came here with my family for my dad's birthday, because my parents recommended the place. I thought it was fine but nothing special at all. We did the Weekly Special deal which included a soup or salad, appetizer, entree, and ice cream. I got a salad, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant parm, and vanilla ice cream. Everything was decent, but nothing was really great. My parents even said it was better the last time they were there. Disappointing meal. Very dated and mismatched decor. The food was mediocre, and not prepared well. We were seated in the back and were the only table, except for the waitresses who sat at the table next to us having inappropriate conversations within the earshot of customers. I particularly enjoyed hearing them talk about the worst customers they have dealt with. The starter salad looked and tasted like it came from a bag from the supermarket and was a day past its prime. I had cavatelli and brocolli, the pasta was average, the brocolli was overcooked, and the sauce was bland. My wife said her chicken was good, the chicken was moist, but was not presented as described on the menu. She also received a side of pasta with marinara sauce that was not listed on the menu and did not compliment the dish. We won't be going back here, and don't recommend it. read more

Passed this place and always saw a crowed lot and decided to try Casa de Pasta. Well, first and last time at this restaurant. Very tight seating, very old décor, utensils are old, no table cloth or place mats for these prices! The food was below average. Salad was wet so asked waitress to bring me another and she just brought back the same one I sent back. She said, dried it with a towel. Wonder if it was a dirty towel. I did not eat it. There's a real reason this place gets crowded on Saturdays! Could it be because they have really good, home-style Italian food? Could it be that they have a very friendly wait-staff and bartenders? Could it be that the portions are really BIG and tasty? The answer to all of the above is yes. I remember my first stop here after moving to Randolph 4 years ago. I sat at the bar because that was the ONLY place I could get a seat at dinner and this was early on a Saturday! The bartender was really friendly and he made me a really nice Irish coffee (it was winter and cold). I then ordered my meal, a stuffed flounder dish and when it came out was so huge, my eyes bugged out of my head and I gulped. I asked the bartender if I had to EAT ALL THAT? and pointed. He chuckled. We bonded. I've been back a number of time since and have never had a bad meal here, whether it was chicken, beef, veal or seafood. They were all great, tasty and a threat to my ever expanding waistline. But I digress so here's my recommendation: if you like really good family style Italian dishes, CASA DE PASTA is the place for it. Just be prepared to arrive early on Saturday evenings! read more

The one who likes bland food loved it and the other whose tasts are much more sophiticated could not enjoy his. The rest of our meals were decent. Went last night with my wife, said we would give it one more try. Should have gone some place else. After ordering, bread was bought to the table. It was warm, but it had to be left over because the crust just broke into hard little pieces and you could not bite though the white of the bread. I asked for more bread and when it came out, right on, no problem, bread as it should be. next my shrimp cocktail came, nice size, four pcs. but they were frozen then thawed. They were very watery. Next came the main meal, shrimp & scallops over pasta. The shrimp were so over cooked that they ate like rubber, the scallops where the same, pasta and gravy where ok. Wife's meal was just ok, not much going on. Will not be going back any time soon. This was our third an last time. read more

I just moved to Chester and have already been to Casa de Pasta a few times. Their house dishes are great and the calamari is superb. My favorite dish is eggplant alla casa. It is eggplant parm stuffed with a sausage in a pink creamy sauce. My mouth waters everytime I thin about it. The restaurant is very cute and old-fashion looking. We go to Casa de Pasta at least once a month. The fact that the parking lot is full every night should be an indication that it is a decent local restaurant. They don't take reservations so if you arrive around 7 pm on a Friday or Saturday night you may encounter a wait (sometime 45 minutes or so). The food is good and consistent. I typically get the cheese ravioli and my wife gets a chicken dish. Most entrees are in the $15-20 range and includes bread and salad. Drink prices are what you would expect at a restaurant. Although the décor is tired, it is a clean restaurant. If you are looking for a top tier restaurant you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a local restaurant that has decent food at a reasonable prices you should be happy. read more

Went to Casa De Pasta twice. Once right before their kitchen closed. The salad was drenched in dressing which made half of it inedible. The calamari is awesome - I'm a huge calamari fan so I always try it when I go to Italian restaurants. Their Pasta Fagioli soup is creamier than what I'm used to but it was delicious. For my main course I got baked ziti. It didn't seem to be actually baked (I'm guessing that was because the kitchen was in the midst of closing) but it was still pretty good. The second time we went, the dressing for the salad was on the side. (Yay.) The calamari was amazing again and the garlic bread includes cheese I probably could've gone with out but that's just my preference. This time I ordered meat ravioli which was alright - I probably should have gone with the cheese instead. The atmosphere is very friendly and lively.
