The food is traditional but not boring, combining the well known with a modern twist. Clearly many people there were repeat customers, and it is easy to understand why. Food: we ended up going with a Bavarian pretzel as an appetizer which was an awesome decision, but super filling. I ordered the stuffed shells and my wife got an eggplant dish which were both superb. Aesthetic: deceivingly nice, both small looking but seats a lot of people, and cool bar set up. Service: even though we were thrown in the side room, our waitress was quick to help us out once she realized that we were seated back there. I have lived in the area for almost my entire life, and for whatever reason, this was my first time dining at Casa de Pasta! And now I regret not going sooner. The eggplant alla casa is a dish I would definitely order again. It was eggplant rollantinni style, but the eggplant was stuffed with sausage, spinach and cheese. Parking was tight, as expected. After seeing a steady flow of people crossing from Casa de Pasta, we figured that must be the overflow spot and parked there like everyone else. We had no idea we were walking into a setup. As my friends and I quickly walked along the shoulder of a busy road--unaware that officers were having to actively guide pedestrians who had fallen victim to what we later learned was Casa de Pasta's parking scam--a man standing in the restaurant's lot began yelling at us while we were inches from high-speed traffic. One of the officers was calling out to us, actively trying to stop traffic and reduce the danger that the Casa de Pasta employee was making worse with his behavior. It was clear the officer was doing everything he could to keep us safe--something the man yelling at us clearly wasn't concerned with. We didn't see any signs and had no idea there was a fee. Just a guy screaming at pedestrians for not paying a charge we didn't even know existed. This wasn't just pathetic--it was dangerous. That man knowingly created a traffic hazard over pocket change. My friends and I could've been seriously hurt. Other festival-goers told us this happens every year--it's a full-on scam, especially considering the church lot had free parking available all along. Let me be clear: it's a free country--charging for parking is their right. But when that matters more than public safety, it says everything. Casa de Pasta seemed more focused on making a quick buck than offering good food or a good experience. As a former customer, I will never give business to this establishment, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before supporting a business that prioritizes $10 or $15 over human safety. read more

I brought the family here last weekend and definitely enjoyed our experience. We were greeted promptly and seated. Our waitress was attentive snd worked hard for us. It's been a few years since we ate at Casa De Pasta and nothing has really changed. That's not a bad thing though, this is a cozy little restaurant that's been in Randolph since 1983. The decor is rustic with a nice bar that unfortunately can't be used in these Covid-19 days. The food is NJ solid Italian, not spectacular but no complaints. I went with the Eggplant alla Casa which is similar to rollatini but stuffed with spinach and sausage. My wife had Veal Francese and my stepson had Shrimp Scampi. The meals were served with a side salad and pasta. My wife thought the veal should have had a vegetable with it and it probably should have. All of my experiences here have been decent but tonight was extremely disappointing. I called and placed a pick up order for one item at 6:30. I was told it would take about 30 minutes and arrived at 7 PM. When I asked for my food, I was told the order was never put in and that they were "short staffed." Even if you don't have enough staff, how does that affect submitting a meal? I needed to wait another 15 minutes. Rather than comp the meal, I was given 10 percent off (less than $3) with an apology. This place looks more like a tavern than an italian place. They have a bar, booths, and a back dining room. Be careful because if you drive too fast you will miss it. It was empty on a saturday around lunch time but we came. I knew when I walked in I knew I wasn't going to have 5 star food but I held out hope for something close. We started with the calamari and it tasted like any other calamari I have had. The marinara sauce that came with it had some flavor but not my favorite sauce. The salt content seemed to be the common theme at this restaurant. Either there was too much of it or not enough. I tried the chicken sorrentino which had too much salt. I felt very bloated after. The eggplant rollatini had way too much ricotta in it so it was overwhelming and drowned out the flavor of the eggplant. The service was good and the staff overall seemed very nice. Most reviews about this establishment are written from the perspective of a long-time townie/local. I'll offer something different. From the outside, the quaint architecture and name suggest a low-key and friendly dining experience. On these points they deliver. Unfortunately, there's little else I was able to recommend during my dining experience. We decided to spend a considerable amount of our COVID risk budget on eating out here, and the first thing we noticed was a prominently posted sign announcing management will openly and flagrantly disregard any and all institutionally-recommended COVID precautions. They even cite the popular social media conspiracy theory of not being able to to ask you about your health conditions because of HIPAA, which is irrelevant because they're a restaurant and not a Covered Entity under that law. It was all we could do not to turn around immediately, but with two small children, we felt committed and the area has a high vaccination rate. Onto the dining experience. Another sign openly warns diners to set their expectations low due to a shortage of labor. While we didn't experience any dearth of service, the perpetual help wanted sign out front suggests they're unwilling to confront the reality of increased wages. One sign among many (including significantly reduced operating hours) that the restaurant is run by those whose heart isn't in it anymore. The food's quality is precisely one notch above Olive Garden. The proportion of sauce to noodle in my linguini primavera left it a swimming pool. Flavor on the bland side, but I've had worse. Any number of other locally owned New Jersey Italian places would deliver a better plate. Decor hasn't been updated in 30 years. Old enough to convey neglect but not old enough to pass back into retro chic. The lighting is strongly tinted and poor quality. You'll feel like you're a Batman villain's hideout. All that being said, they staff were friendly and accommodating, even with our small children. At the end of the day, this place needs to be put out of its misery and the owners need to retire to Florida. read more

I was craving for some pasta so my boyfriend told me about " Casa De Pasta " since he delivers to them. We drove an hour and 15 min to eat there!! My family came here for my 30th wedding anniversary because we wanted to try a different casual Italian place and the reviews were decent. We got a late start because my poor wife had a root canal and we had to wait until the numbness was gone. They advertised being open until 11, but when we got there at 9:15 the hostess had to check if the kitchen was still serving. Honestly, I'm not sure why anyone gave it a rave review because it needs work on every level. First, the decor is old and the booth cushions were worn out, so sitting was uncomfortable. The trim around the booth was dirty and I felt like I didn't want to touch anything. We sat about 10 minutes before the less-than-enthusiastic waitress even came over with our menus, but gladly the bread was served immediately. Their selection was old school NJ Italian, which is fine. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs, sausage, Caesar salad, stuffed shells, chicken francese, and the dinners came with dinner salad and a penne with marinara. Some things were good, the blue cheese salad dressing, sausage and the chicken. The marinara was fine. The salads were very small and blah. The pasta was ok. The loaves of bread were hit or miss as a few were stale or overbaked. My wife found a fairly large piece of bone in the meatball which was probably just the meat supplier's fault. We basically felt rushed and that the food was not commensurate with the high prices. There are places closer to us for less and a more enjoyable experience. It's a family owned Italian restaurant where everything tastes homemade, even if it isn't. I popped in here on a whim with my friend and I am so glad that I did! GORGEOUS building. The moment you walk in it feels so homey. The food is so tasty! The calamari and the antipasto are both delicious. And the pasta reminds me of my mother's. But my favorite thing by far is the cheesecake. When we went they had a Valentine's day special: Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Cheesecake. Y'all...it was incredible. The lightest, fluffiest little piece of heaven on a plate you've ever had. Our lovely waitress told us that sometimes people actually call ahead to make sure that they have the cheesecake available. After trying it, I don't doubt it for a second. I have been coming to Casa for well over 30 years. They have updated the decor yet still maintains its ambiance. My dad always ordered the Capellini DiAngelo. It was his favorite meal. I am thrilled to see it on the menu after all these years. My two favorites are the Country Chicken and the Veal Patricia. I waffle between the two when I visit. We had an app and two separate dishes with sausage and meatballs in the side. Everything was phenomenal. We liked that the marinara was not the same in every dish as it sometimes is at other spots. The service was very friendly and attentive. I had gone here many years ago with friends and liked it, so finally remembered it when we were having the usual "no you pick the restaurant" debate. It was just really good. Thankfully I didn't read the recent reviews or I may not have gone. However, something might have changed in past 5 months since the less than stellar reviews were left. Just moved into the area 6 months ago. I've been there 3x. Sat at bar all 3 times and had dinner twice. Barmaid Denise was friendly and attentive. It's an older crowd which matches the decor. The place could be spuced up a bit. The food is average at best. What shocked me was when I got home, I looked at my itemized receipt and noticed that a Tito's Martini cost $13.50..... that's not all, they charge $1 extra for EACH Blue Cheese stuffed olive!! Are you kidding? There are many more places to go nearby that are much more high end with better food and martinis are the same price or less. Other places won't change you $1 per olive! We went to Casa De Pasta last night, and it was A-OK. First off, the parking is massive, you can park 10 - 18-wheelers there without issue. It is almost formatted like a "Roadhouse". The place was packed, hmm... must be why they have such a large parking lot. We waited for a bit (as they do not allow reservations), and then got a seat at the bar. Tony (behind the bar) was super busy maintaining the patrons, and he did get our orders and drinks quick enough, and we ended up having a good time just sitting at the bar. The food is good, very home style, and they customize it how you want it. I had the chicken francaise with angel hair pasta. It was very good, and the portions large. It was done just right. I think the things that are not working for this place is that it is extremely full, and that business (although it does not take away from quality) adds to the wait time to get things. Sometimes just getting the attention of staff is difficult - but don't take it personally - they are just very busy. I would recommend this place again, and I give it 3 stars. read more
