I was a loyal customer of Kim's for over 8 years. She handled countless alterations for me and was incredibly skilled, detail-oriented, and fairly priced. As a very petite shopaholic, I kept her busy, and she never disappointed. After Kim retired and sold the business, I decided to give the new owner a chance. Against my better judgment, I brought in a pair of $250 designer joggers to have the original hem shortened. I specifically paid extra to preserve the original hem. When I picked them up, I was shocked. The original jogger hem with the branded drawstring detail had been completely cut off and replaced with a basic flat hem. The owner admitted he couldn't find the pieces he removed and only located one of the original hem after searching. To his credit, he attempted to fix the damage, but I had to source the correct drawstring components myself and wait over two weeks for repairs. He reimbursed me for the materials, but that was the extent of it. I finally wore the pants for the first time, and the repaired drawstring immediately broke. Now the pants are essentially unusable. Mistakes happen, but this alteration permanently damaged an expensive garment that cannot be restored to its original condition. Please be cautious if you're bringing in specialty, designer, or high-end items. I won't be returning. read more

We were sad to see that Kim sold Casa de Oro Alterations in 2025, but we were glad that a new Tailor bought the place and we decided to give it a try. The tailor was very nice and eager to please. Since the place was under new management, we made sure to inquire about the pricing for hems, darts, tapering, etc., prior to leaving our garments. The prices appeared to be reasonable based upon industry standards. Since then we have been using this tailor for the past year and I also had a couple of custom projects that he was able to complete. I did have a few garments that needed to be readjusted and he did so without charge. If you have a rush, he can usually accommodate your request. On occasion there might be a bit of a language barrier, so I simply use the iPhone translate feature if necessary. Overall I would recommend this tailor. read more

I've been going to this tailor for about a year now. I feel his prices are quite competitive compared to many in my area. I lost weight and went down a few dress sizes. I was grateful to have him alter some of on my favorite blouses. Some needed extensive work and he managed to make it fit me nicely. It's difficult to find a good tailor so I am grateful he took over for the previous owner. There is some language barrier but I was able to communicate with him. Give him a try. read more

The new owner, I feel, isn't quite as skilled (not bad by any means, just not as detailed) and his prices are a lot higher. Just so people are aware. This place is under new ownership. The previous owner was the best tailor I've ever been to. I went regularly. She was amazing. The new owner is very nice, but he's just not as talented. I think he's ok for basic alterations, but not for anything complicated. I've been to him twice now. The prices are fair and the tailor is honest and did great work. I had a thrifts jackets sleeve taken up a few inches and the work was fantastic. We've also had multiple pants hemmed. If you aren't in a rush, I highly recommend as each item took 7 days to complete. read more

I am very busy and have a pair of pants I love (the fit, the material, the color) which have had a small hole in the crotch. I brought in the pants and the gentleman working said he could repair them then and there if I would like to take a seat. I was pleasantly surprised and only charged me $5. I brought in a pullover hoodie and asked if she could add a zipper. This would mean splitting the front pocket into two. She said "No Problem" and said the cost would be $45. But when I asked for a metal zipper, she said she will only provide a plastic zipper. I would have to provide the zipper myself. So I went online and found a suitable bronze zipper for $11 including shipping, brought it back to her, and she said to pick it up a week later. Which I did. The stitching was all very well, but the tops of the two pockets don't line up precisely. So not perfect, but good enough. I paid $30 cash (she doesn't take cards). read more

I moved to spring valley earlier this year and was looking for a new tailor. Finding a good tailor is very difficult. It seems more difficult in the suburbs. Based off of the reviews, I decided to bring 5 dresses for a variety of tailoring, from shortening straps to taking in the waist to a combination of the two. Tailoring took about one week to accomplish, and I was happy with the results. The dresses fit well, and the price was very reasonable, $62. Cash only, but you have a week to be prepared for it when coming to pick up. Parking lot in front, but the spots can be quite tight for larger SUVs. I took off one star because she didn't want to tailor one of my more complicated dresses. She told me that I should just buy a new one, which isn't possible. I'll be honest, it would have been difficult, but I would've wanted to do it if she gave me the option. read more

I had to get a formal dress hemmed for my son's wedding. Kim did it in a week, the length I'd asked for, and an excellent hemming job. Her shop was filled with clothing waiting for pickup. What I could see of the shop, it looked like everything you could want in a seamstress/alterations expert. She measured it accurately and got the job done. Her rate quoted to me turned out to be $10 less than the maximum, but I was so pleased, I gave her the whole amount. I am pleased she is not far from my home!
