I ordered online, through their website and was met with them not knowing of my order at all and wanting me to prove it. I was staying at a hotel a block away and walked over with just my hotel key in my pocket. It turns out that their iPad was not working. There was no indication of an issue THEIR website or no the receipt I got that charged the transaction onto my credit card. I walked back to my hotel and saw the charge on my credit card, so I called to get the order corrected (much easier than fighting the charge) and when I got there, I still had to prove my order, but I came armed with my phone and showed them my receipt. The very unpleasant man I had to deal with he first time still tried to argue with me and could not see my point that there was no way I could know they had an issue as I was using THEIR website to place the order. I made it a point of coming there each time I came to town, as it was one of my deceased mother's favorite places. They just lost my business forever. Since when is it okay to place the blame on the customer who was given no warning, no clue, to their problem. Fix it, or there will be more disgruntled customers. read more

I've been here many times but this review is for Cinco De Mayo. Casa De Oro is run by professionals who know how to handle a crowd. We were given tons of chips, our basket never even got empty before it was replaced. Our water was frequently replaced. My margarita was awesome (melon) and the food is always great. I love the staff here, they run a great business and deserve to be open for many years to come. All of them were friendly while they hustled. One tip: when it's busy, the lobby is pretty cold with the door opening and closing and moving the air all over so I'd recommend bringing a sweater in with you so you don't get cold during your wait. Ours was about 20-25 minutes on Cinco De Mayo at dinner. Go CDO! read more

This restaurant has always had great food, except tonight. Ordered the Casa de Oro burrito as usual. It has always been white chicken meat with plenty of tamale sauce. The one tonight had dark chicken meat and tasted nothing like I've ever had there before with almost no tamale sause. I've been going to casa for years now. To a point where the staff seem to know myself and my co-workers. The food is great, the service is great and in all my years I've never been let down and I'm not afraid to tell the truth if a place has screwed up on service or food orders. Casa has a menu selection that of any Americanized Mexican restaurant. Their salsa is good but make sure to ask for the Pico de Gallo the staff will gladly bring you a plate and it's quite tasty. There are two locations in town that I know of, the one on Mullen being my personal favorite. I recommend a visit anytime. read more

Casa de Oro in the Valley was the only mexican place our family would go to for 20 years. This last visit has shown us we will never return. Chips had been sitting under the lamp obviously all day. My husband ordered a simple chicken burrito with rice & beans, what he got was a ton of rice and beans with a rolled chicken taco. My Tacos al Pastor were the worst version I've ever had. My son's children's meal of cheeseburger & fries was the better option of the 3 meals! To top it off, service was awful and non-existent. This restaurant, which used to be my fav for Mexican, has gone downhill a bit. They are still good, but not as good as they used to be. The shredded beef dishes have been diluted by a filling in them-looks like little squares of potatoes. Not appealing. The carne asada is way, way, way ,too salty. I know, it is a salty dish, but this was over the top salty. This was barely able to eat salty. And the taco salad it just disappointingly tiny & left me hungry. The servings are definitely smaller. But the chimi is still delish & the fajitas & enchiladas are still really good! I still go, just not as often. read more

Last night while on our way home, my wife and I had one of those, "chips, guacamole and a beer sounds really good right now" moments. We stopped in to Casa De Oro for the first time in years, and now I don't know why it's been so long! The service was prompt and friendly, the chips and salsa was standard (my wife liked them but the chips were a little too thick-cut for me), but the guacamole was awesome! We decided to order nachos too, and I must say for just your standard chips/beans/meat nachos, they were probably the best I've had in a very long time. The price was also extremely reasonable for the amount of food you receive. The chicken was delicious, like really good homemade roasted chicken that's been basting for hours. Their draft beer selection (of one) could definitely be improved, but since Dos Equis was what I wanted anyway, I shouldn't complain. All in all, it was nice to be back and see it's still a good place to enjoy a great meal. Do yourself a favor and skip Azteca, come here instead! *Side note: I remember when I was a kid and we'd just moved to the valley, my parents took me to Casa De Oro and I ordered a cheeseburger. Big mistake, the whole staff started chanting "Cheeseburger! Cheeseburger!" My wife said the same thing would happen to her little brother back in the day. Anyone know if they still do this? Spokane isn't known for it's good restaurants, but I like Casa De Oro. Is it authentic Mexican? No, not really, but it's still a very enjoyable restaurant to go to, and better than other Mexican restaurants in the Spokane area, or at least ones that I've been to. There are two other Casa De Oro's, with this one being the most remote for me. But my husband and I make the drive out to this one because the food seems to taste better at this specific location for whatever reason. Also, the service is beyond exceptional! I have been here twice in a month with parties of 8 and 10. The first time we got bad service that seamed like they did not want us there. They only refilled our drinks once and forgot to bring us things we asked for. I played it off to they where busy that night. Last night I went again. The service was the same as my previous experience. I have eaten here many times and even with large parties. I always had a great experience until now. I don't know if they have new owners, management or what but its not the same. On both bad visits we had the same server. In the past good experiences we had him. So I know its not a lack of training. The food was okay on both visits. Nothing to write home about but not gross. read more
