My husband and I are afraid to try some place else because we don't ever want to be disappointed if we go anywhere else. Choo Choo is THAT good and they set the standard. Whenever we have friends or family visiting from out of town, this is the place that we take them too. It has a nice, family-friendly atmosphere and the food is amazing. The staff is always so wonderful. Prices are very fair considering the portions and quality that they provide. read more

Choo Choo Tortas - Love the decor here!! It's so inviting and warm - Mexican Near Me - Spokane Valley, Washington

My friend and I had lunch here today and it was beyond delicious! I had the Chimichanga and Coke Mexicana and my friend had the Pollo A La Crema. The food was fresh and flavorful. Both came with rice and refried beans. Generous portions. I had to get a box and took half home to my husband. He loved it! The restaurant is cozy and clean and such amazing service. Everyone is so friendly. So many choices. I can't wait to go back and try something new. The Slushies looked so good too. Conveniently located off Sprague & University with ample parking. Right next to the Monkey Bar. read more

First off let me start off by saying I'm from Southern California, so I tend to be unimpressed with much of the "Mexican" food up here in Spokane and CDA. However, when I walked in and saw the lady at the counter speaking Spanish to a customer in front of me, I was hopeful. I ordered a California Burrito with no pico and added light sour cream-- I normally would have done street tacos but I felt like this place maybe would get the burrito right. Thank goodness I trusted my gut because the first bite I took of this thing was packed with flavor! Thank goodness the meat was juicy, flavorful and just like CA Mexican I know and love. The fries were crispy but soft enough to absorb the rest of the flavor. Just the right amount of all toppings as well. When I say I POWERED THROUGH eating that burrito I sure did! It was so bomb. I will not be going anywhere else when craving Mexican food. So thrilled I found this place. I also will say it was packed in there! So all the staff (seemed to be all females from what I could tell so girl power!) was hustling! Great customer service but even better food. GO. You must. read more

Love love love this food. They are different from most of the Mexican places around here, and the reason I say that is because the flavors are more bold in my opinion. I was so happy to have their Posole, which is a weekend-only treat. Hubby loves coming here for buche, and my Son loved his lunch, which was a whole bunch of marinated chicken over fries. I didn't pay too much attention to them because my Posole had me enraptured. read more

Staff was super nice and friendly!! So sad we don't live in town! I've been looking for a good burrito for over three years now and damn I'm finally satisfied! Next time I have to order a bunch and then freeze them The only thing negative I can say is that they need to wipe down their tables more after customers. Other than that AMAZING!!! read more

What a clean place. Counter help is super helpful/sweet. Relaxed and inviting. Once inside:). The fronts a bit deceiving. Watch out, they put mustard on a torta. Other than that they are great. read more

Probably some of the best Mexican food in town, definitely best in the valley. The Choo Choo burrito is massive and the carnitas inside are near perfect! Tender meat that is well flavored and just enough fat to keep it moist & juicy. Super fries are indeed SUPER, too. Fantastic carne asada, tender, juicy, and no chunks of gristle as one often sees. Prices are fair but you do get what you pay for! read more

I can't say enough GOOD things about Choo Choo Tortas. Their service is amazing - super friendly and happy to discuss the menu and recommend suggestions, and they have a clean and well-stocked dining room. The ambiance is fun and bright and colorful - they lean into the train theme, but in an inviting way. The restaurant renovation they did in 2023 really helped the flow and opened up the space, and the bathrooms are MUCH nicer now. And that's not even mentioning the AMAZING food! I usually get a Torta because they are the best! I LOVE the Cubana but any of them are delicious. Definitely get the red and green salsas in the fridge - they're homemade! They also have Tostada de Ceviche now and it is DELICIOUS! Tilapia "cooked" in citrus juice and combined with tomato, onion, and cilantro served on top of a mayo covered crispy tostada. Oh, and don't skip the homemade agua frescas. I just had a mixed fruit one that was not too sweet and had a strawberry-forward flavor. And my husband loves that PERFECT horchata is always an option! Highly recommend. Good people; good food. 5 Stars! read more

Service was great very friendly. Lots of seating and thankfully I went on a not so busy day. Food was amazing and so was salsa. I would definitely go again. read more

This place is a hidden gem! People are so nice and the food is authentically delicious! I had to try their name sake tortas and they didn't disappoint! Hidden Mexican with flavorful fare. I had the huarache which includes meat, cactus, cheese, beans and a homemade tortilla. Plenty for one person. I also foolishly went long on the fried jalapeños. While salty flavorful, they'll learn you something good. My compatriot has the Choo choo burrito which was filling and spiced well. Also rice and beans which were meh. read more

Great food and great service. Really like their quesabirria tacos with the cup of au jus. Sort of like a Mexican version of a French dip! read more

Just ok, interesting to have mayo and mustard in a torta. Their buns are nicely toasted and the cheese is melted to gooey perfection. Everything else was not memorable. The smell of the carne asada torta reminded me of Burger King no joke. Workers are friendly and their drinks are good. Melon fresca is where it's at and will probably be my summer go to. I haven't had anything else on the menu and figured if you're going to have torta in your name, it's probably going to be what you specialize in. I wouldn't come back for the torta, even though it was priced fairly at roughly $7. Maybe I'll come back for tacos, but that's only if I'm already coming for their dank fresca. read more

Choo Choo Tortas - Carne asada torta with pineapple lemonade - Mexican Near Me - Spokane Valley, Washington

Good, helpful counter service with table delivery. We had the Cubano Torta, and the Ahogada Torta. I've never had their Tortas before. Essentially a Mexican sandwich. The Cubano was packed with fried breaded pork, ham, sausage, and more. ( Even a hotdog) The bread appeared to be home made. Slightly chewy, fragrant. Nice sauce and condiments. Good, creative sandwich, easily large enough for two. The Ahogada Torta was same bread, covered in a spicy sauce, with tender Carne Asada inside. We liked the sauce that covered it, zip, but not too spicy. I'll get it again. Also, large enough for two. read more

Hands down my favorite spot to get Mexican food. My go-to order is the quesabirria tacos which comes with rice and beans on the side. It's the perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Everything is well seasoned and tastes fresh. Overall, the restaurant setting is very welcoming, casual and relaxed. The staff and service is very fast and friendly. Definitely will keep recommending this joint to friends. Choo Choo is one of my rare great finds in Spokane. Both times I went the food was fresh, the chicken was well seasoned, & the burrito is huge!! Usually I eat one half in one sitting and the other half in another so it could definitely be shared. It's obvious that the employees are working really hard. I've had better rice and beans but that won't stop me from ordering it ‍ read more

Choo Choo Tortas - Californian Burrito sub chicken instead of steak - Mexican Near Me - Spokane Valley, Washington

One of the only Mex joints in the metro that offers the traditional cuts, yet still makes the 'Yankee standards' fresh, and pretty much any way you want it. Some folks lean more safe for a Mex experience, and that's fine. Our palates/likes/dislikes are not all the same. Choo Choo reminds me of delicious moments on our travels in Central WA. My buche street tacos lunch were robust, and the great house rojo/verde salsas made every bite samba sabrosa. A dining option not found in these parts much, regrettably. They also nailed the carnitas on my wifey's Sopes; crispy exterior, great pork flavor, tender, but with a gentle amount of toothsomeness that made me believe it was prepared fresh that morning. This familia gets it done right. Dozens of other joints in the Spokane/C'dA metro just can't figure out how to duplicate this; or, maybe they don't even bother to try? Some places just hit all the right notes for me... read more

When you hear about "The most authentic Mexican place in Spokane" you go there ASAP. My LA taco truck lovin tummy has been in dire need of a few good tacos! Choo Choo was good. It wasn't great. I ordered the torta and I don't think it was the right choice which is surprising since the place is called Choo Choo Torta. The Torta bread was perfect but there wasn't enough meat or beans to average out the flavor. So my Pastor Torta tasted like bread and lettuce. My husband ordered the Carne Asada Burrito and he also said it didn't have enough meat or beans that the burrito tasted like mostly rice and tortilla. I think I will go back and just get the tacos where the meat is usually the star and hopefully that will raise my star level. I have to agree though, the place seemed more authentic than any other Mexican place I've been. read more

Choo choo's might be known for their tortas, but equally delicious are their street tacos! The El Pastor is my personal favorite. Since the weather was so warm today, I decided I needed to try a Chamango, one of their many frozen fruit drinks. This one was full of ripe mango, mango pure, shaved ice, chamoy sauce and shaved iced. So incredibly refreshing! I can't wait to come back and try some of other fruit flavors. This restaurant is a little tucked away, in the Valley, just off Sprague and University. Be sure to get out and try it! read more

My wife and I have been to Choo Choo a couple times, and WOW. This place is amazing! What's nuts is that I technically haven't even had the thing they named themselves for: a torta. My go to is the Quesabirria Tacos.
