As someone who loves Mexican/Central American food and has eaten in the mother lands, I have a fairly high bar for what I consider good. Spokane is kinda lacking in places that don't just cater to the lowest common gringo and hold back on the flavor. That is not the case here! Last time I was in I tried the Camerones a la Diabla (Shrimp of the Devil) and it had a great kick but didn't sacrifice flavor. So much forehead sweating goodness. Don't worry, if that heat is just too much, they have lots of tamer dishes that are still full of flavor. While it is a go up to the counter and order kind of place, it doesn't feel that way. Everyone is very friendly and upbeat. It honestly feels like you are visiting family more than going to a restaurant. Inside is so colorful and fun! In the era of big restaurant chains going with the corporate boring you could be anywhere look, I love the street fiesta feel of the interior. This place is a gem for Spokane. The fact they were so busy on a Tuesday night tells you how good they are. If you like Mexican food even a little, you MUST try this place. read more

I love you so much Tacos El Sol. I was a solid fan when it was just the taco truck downtown at 1am before the uber gets me. But now you have a restaurant and I am so so excited. There is also a drive thru! Some of the very best pico de gallo of my life. The quesadillas are amazing - whether again it's 2 in the morning or dinner for the evening. Everything is so fresh and delicious and I personally think it's my favorite Mexican food in Spokane. The pozole is flavorful and the meat is so tender. He ordered the chicken, beef, and chorizo street tacos and I ordered 3 chicken hard-shell tacos Pros: The inside of the restaurant was clean, bright, and colorful. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The tacos were all very affordable. Our meal total came to about $14. Once we ordered, it took quite a while to get our food. Normally, this would be a bad thing. However, it took so long because they were making our food to order. I have no problem with slow food prep if it means the food is fresh, and our meal obviously was. The food was well cooked and well presented. My husband absolutely loved his street tacos! Cons: We were going to go through the drive thru, but there didn't appear to be a menu board (at least not in the normal spot that most restaurants have their menu board.)Since this was our first time here, and we didn't know what to order, we decided to walk in so we could see a menu. While my chicken hard shell tacos were good, they didn't wow me. They had the basic ingredients I use at home for my own tacos. And while there's nothing wrong with that, when I go out to eat I prefer to have things that I normally don't have OR are prepared in a way that I usually don't do. Tried this place for the first time the other day. The street tacos were INCREDIBLE! Also the nachos were really good! My fiancé had the torta and he said it was delicious. I would highly recommend! The only downside is that it took us 45 minutes to get our food... We ordered at the drive thru and waited in a parked spot. At one point we thought they forgot about us haha but the man that brought our food was super apologetic and we like to show love to local spots so it wasn't a huge deal. Visiting family in the Spokane area and drove by this place this morning with every intention of looking it up and checking out their reviews. After a little research we came back in the afternoon and tried their carne asada tacos combo with rice and beans. Wow! I have been craving authentic tacos for a bit now and this really hit the spot! The tacos were perfect and the mild sauce and guac were awesome. I'm looking forward to trying more from this awesome new find (for me!). It was Taco Tuesday and we asked our daughter where should we go since she lives here and we were visiting. She recommended this place. Unfortunately after looking at their menu, no one wanted tacos anymore, lol. This place is an order at the counter and they will call you when your order is up. We got some Burritos, a quesadilla, nachos and a medium size serving of rice and beans. Portion size were good. Everything was delicious except the chicken Quesadilla was made on a medium size flour tortilla that was folded and cooked but not cut. It looked like a folded taco when served on the plate. We ordered this for a 2 year old so we had to ask for a knife to cut it. All utensils are located behind the counter, so you have to ask. I also personally wished they would have used a combination of shredded cheddar cheese and nacho sauce for their nachos instead of all liquid nacho sauce. The chips are round corn chips which I wish it was the authentic Mexican chips. There was plenty of shredded beef on it. Those were the only things I noted. Other than that we all enjoyed eating here and would come back when in town. read more
