Came here with a group of friends. They ended up bringing our appetizers the same time as our food which was a little unfortunate. I got the combo plate with a shredded beef/pork tostada and chicken mole enchilada. I liked the mole which has a chocolate flavor to it. Everyone enjoyed their food. Portions were huge! We all had leftovers to take home. Service overall was good and the waitress was friendly. We would return. read more

I've lived in Spokane for a couple years now and haven't found a good Mexican restaurant UNTIL I tried maracas. The owner is super friendly and personable. The restaurant is super cute and cozy and the food is always a 10/10. read more

I've reviewed Maracas before and now my wonderful review has disappeared. Has anyone else experienced that? Anyway, their margaritas are large enough to sail a small ship in. Their food is fresh and delicious. Made with love by Sergio in the kitchen and served with a smile by Gena, who will always remember your name. Always a joy to come to this gem on the south hill! Love how the place is decorated for each holiday and this time Easter theme with bunny napkins with my margarita. Speaking of which, they are ginormous and not watered down with a bunch of ice. Meals are varied and delicious. Friendly staff. A bit slower than some other Mexican restaurants but leaves time to drink! Cheers! read more

I've been a weekly regular here for years. Friendly staff, quick service. Reliable food that always satisfies. South hill is a more difficult place to find a good margarita than I initially expected. Come here, they know how to keep the sugar to a minimum and focus on a good drink. read more

We love Maracas! We discovered it shortly after moving to the South Hill in 2019. The kids love that they can get quesadillas or tacos, but can also get a burger or chicken fingers (which are really good). the fajita sampler is amazing and my Favorite. I don't usually like shrimp in food, but their shrimp is always really fresh and delicious. The good people who run this restaurant are always pleasant, especially Gina. They worked really hard keeping the restaurant going during the shutdown and even delivered to our home. tonight we went there for my daughter's birthday dinner. I mentioned to Gina that my teen specifying asked to go there for her birthday because it's her favorite restaurant. Gina surprised us with fried ice cream and an enthusiastic team singing happy birthday... with maracas. We have never been disappointed there and take visitors when they are in town. be sure to note that the restaurant is small- so if you go during peak dinner hours, there may be a short wait. read more

The food is fabulous, so many items to choose from. Thei drinks are amazing, different types of margaritas, my favorite is the Cadillac margarita in the large size, but they have all different kinds of flavors as well as several different types of drinks. Ever had a pina colada with whipped cream on top, yes that's very dreamy and creamy. The staff and wait staff are fantastic. They're sweet and friendly and good at their job and even when the place is crowded they will still make sure that you get what you need. This wait staff bends over backwards for its customers. I love the Mexican themed decorations as well as the decorations for the American holidays. It is just a nice place to be whether you want to come in and have margaritas and an appetizer or a full meal You've got to stop by maracas on the South Hill or on Ruby behind the general store. I prefer this maracas 100x more this restaurant is so welcoming and the food is so delicious and the drinks are amazing I drive all the way from 5 mile just to come to south hill for this amazing food!!!! The one closer to my home is just not the same at all but this one in south hill is most definitely worth the drive read more

The quesadilla and service were good but when we ordered the fried ice cream for dessert, the outside coating was chewy and hard to eat. Tasted like they had pre-made a bunch of ice cream balls and let them sit in the fridge way too long. Conclusion: great for lunch but skip dessert read more

This place is what Mexican food is to velveta cheese. The drinks were pressed out of a bottle. We had Cadillac margaritas that were premixed and warm. Our meals were either over microwaved and both the meat and sauce tasted like it was out of a can. Don't know how anyone could give this food 4 stars. read more

I love this place. I grew up in Southern California (so I KNOW me some Mexican food) and also having Taken a trip to Mexico in feb and having the MOST DELICIOUS, authentic carne Asada in puerto Vallarta....haven't had anyone quite yet reach the caliber of flavor of the real Mexican made cuisine until now. Maracas seriously has the best carne asada in Spokane IMHO. My wife agrees (and not just cuz she has to, she really agrees ) the service was great, the food was great, everything was great. The little tables they have set up outside were super cute. The only thing that I would critique is the volume of music outside, it was quite loud. Other than that, the food was amazing and has been every time we have come here. The restaurant itself is a little small but still cozy, and like others have said, not good for super large parties of people probably. I did not see the owner there today but every other time I've been there the owner has been and he's a very kind, personable guy. I didn't check out the bathroom... maybe next time as we will for sure be back! read more

We love this Mexican food. The Carne Asada burrito is my favorite. My husband enjoys the Carnitas tacos. We love the rice and beans. Service is always fast and very friendly. The prices seem a little bit high but not for the amount of food that you get and certainly not in this economy. The Carne Asada burrito I believe is $22 but it's huge it's always two meals for us. Highly recommend this place. read more

After a bit of searching, we found Maracas in our own backyard. The servers, most appear to be family members, are prompt and friendly. The place was packed but we got a booth immediately. I ordered a couple 24 oz. margaritas (Don Julio anejo) during the course of the evening and they were perfect!!! The food was the best Wash/Mex we've had so far and we bolted it like we were starving. The salsa was on the saucy side and delicious. The atmosphere is loud and friendly, a lot like a party, and there were lots of families and kids! We FINALLY found the Mexican joint for Friday nights. Glad we uber'ed after those drinks. The food is absolutely excellent! The wait time can be outrageous, even when you order way ahead. The staff is very nice if they address you, but usually you have to grab somebody. I've never stayed for indoor service, just pick up. read more

Maracas is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Spokane! I've yet to try a dish I didn't completely devour. Their delicious food and exceptionally friendly staff elevate them above the other spots in the area like De Leon's and Rancho Viejo. Their menu is a little expensive, but if price is an issue for you, I recommend the Carne Asada burrito, which comes with TWO massive burritos for less than $20; very easy to share! (Their chips are also better than anyone else's in Spokane) read more

I've been a few times, its ok. The food was decent but can be hit or miss and the prices just don't line up with the menu. The service is on point and the food isn't bad in any way, it just tends to be a bit pricey. Compared to the other mexican place across the street to the north though, this is hands down the place to go if you're up on the 57th area. What a great find there are three Mexican restaurants in two miles of this place and this will be my go to place from now on. Growing up in New Mexico finding good authentic food is difficult but wow.... Just wow. Asked for the chiefs choice and got the tres tacos chicken cheese peppers and fresh cut avocado just a great meal. And to top it off they have good margaritas, fried ice cream and sopapillas. read more

We love Maracas. It's a small casual restaurant run by nice people. Service is quick and portions are generous. The carne asada is delicious. I recommend you get takeout during the pandemic and ask for a margarita kit or two. Fun times. read more

Maracas is pretty much your standard issue sit-down Mexican joint, except they actually execute the all-too-familiar formula fairly well, unlike many other places of the same type. First off, service is always genuinely friendly - we've always been warmly greeted at the door, and the waitresses actually seem like they are happy to be there. They do a fine job all around. The place is bright, tidy, and doesn't feel tired, dated, or run-down. The food is solid, but I wouldn't say it's the best I've had. Sometimes a few details miss the mark: a burrito that's a bit too dry due to a lack of sauce on top (like tonight's carne asada burrito)... tacos that fall apart quickly... But overall it's been consistently pretty good, and that is a big achievement when other places are prone to massive failure occasionally and you never quite know what you'll get. If their food was just a bit better, I'd have to consider a 5 star rating. Also, I should note that prices are maybe bit on the high side at $15-$20 depending on the protein, but ingredient quality seems good overall so the price is more justifiable. If you're way up on the hill, this is a safe bet for a Mexican food fix; my wife and I have visited 5-6 times and have yet to be dissapointed. read more

(For context, I am Mexican) For all my Latinos, beware: NO, JUST..... NO NOPE NOPE NOPE. I have absolutely no clue how this business managed to get almost 5 stars, I understand that I am as north of the border as it gets but wow. I don't want to rant too much because I would be here a while so let me summarize: First red flag - NO TORTAS , how the hell are you an "authentic" Mexican restaurant without tortas, but hey at least you have burgers I guess. Service- Very slow and incredibly bad. Not only did our waitress took forever to take our order, but she forgot our appetizer, and then our order. her excuse? "I'm sorry I couldn't read my handwriting" .......ok.... Also she charged us wrong when it came to get the check. Food: Pros- The Guac is pretty good i guess. And the alcoholic drinks are fine. Cons- The chips and red salsa that you get in the beginning are pretty generic, the worst part is the red salsa, it tastes like tomato soup, no heat whatsoever. I got the tacos, they are very very greasy, however the carne asada was good BUT the portions are pretty standard , most of the food seems to be overpriced for what it is (15 dollars for 3 tacos , beans and rice, you serious?) And lastly the churros were pretty dry. Overall aside from the guac, alcohol and part of the carne, there was nothing else that tasted even ok. Worst $50 I've ever spent, its borderline insulting to be honest. So, if you are Latino, DO NOT come to this place, you WILL regret it. read more

Best Mexican food I've found in Spokane. Queso was legit and not just microwaved Velveta; chicken was seasoned and had visible grill marks; margarita was not neon yellow; cheap beer; attentive service. The kitchen is also open to the dining area where you can see orders being prepared and hear fresh ingredients being chopped. Excited to have found this neighborhood spot and will be back! read more

Eating here isn't like going to a restaurant. It's like going over to a family members house for dinner. The owner, Gina, is an extremely energetic and loving lady. Part of the reason I go here is because of her and her daughter Paloma. My kids always have a great time and we never leave without a hug. Gina cares about the experience her customers have. You can taste that love in the food. Best Carne Asada and Pullo Fundido I've ever had. The margaritas are great and should probably come with a designated driver. Thank you Gina for making such amazing food and always being so great to your customers. read more

The food was amazing, the people were great, and I was excited to come back. Yesterday, my girlfriend and I planned a date night and decided to order from here again. Since we have kids, we did pickup. We drove about 25 minutes, then waited another 25 minutes because the line was packed which I didn't mind because the food was that good the first time. But this time? Completely different experience. I ordered a bean burrito with cheese... and it had no beans. Just rice and cheese in a tortilla. Then the nachos, honestly, for $27, this was unacceptable. Dry chips, unmelted cheese, some tomatoes thrown on top, no meat, no beans just thrown together with no care. It looked and tasted like an afterthought. What made it worse is the lack of accountability. I tried calling multiple times last night and again this morning no answer. Calls just ring or don't go through. I even tried calling from different numbers. Nothing. At this point, it's not even about the money it's the principle. Mistakes happen, but not being able to reach anyone or have them make it right is frustrating. I really wanted to keep supporting this place because the first experience was great, but this completely missed the mark. If you go, just be aware the quality and consistency might not be what you expect.

There is plenty of seating so even if it looks busy, there are still tables available. The staff is constantly walking around cleaning off tables, asking you if you need anything in a friendly, respectful way. Not in a way that would make you feel uncomfortable or rushed. I can't wait to go back!

First time dining here. We chose this place based on where our guests lived and the reviews I expected so much more than what we got. First the chips aren't bad but the salsa was horrendous. It could not even be called salsa in my opinion. Tasted like canned tomato sauce and canned tomatoes no onion, no jalapenos, no cilantro. No heat at all. The Chile Relleno was the best part of the entire meal. Cheese was oozing out and had really good flavor. The Chimichanga was just okay. The Margaritas while large had really no flavor. I had two and didn't have the slight less buzz. I didn't taste any tequila or that classic margarita flavor. Don't know if I would give it another try or not. I'm leaning toward finding somewhere else to get my chips and salsa and Margarita fix when I'm in town. read more

Had such a great experience at this Mexican restaurant! I ordered the queso dip and it was absolutely delicious--creamy, flavorful, and perfectly warm. The chips and salsa were also fresh and full of flavor. Seriously, some of the best I've had! I went with the nachos for my main dish, and they did not disappoint. They came loaded with toppings and every bite had a great mix of textures and flavors. From start to finish, everything was spot on. I'll definitely be back! This is honestly the only place in Spokane where I can confidently say I'd give a 4+ star experience every time. Maracas Mexican Grill is always a great experience! The steak and shrimp fajitas were absolutely amazing, and the pico de gallo on the side was fresh and full of flavor. Went during happy hour (which is a lot of hours!!) Loved the Cadillac Margarita! The space has a great family vibe with delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine (highly recommend the pollo a la crema) at very agreeable prices. Had a great experience, servers were friendly, quick, and competent. Definitely a local haunt, judging by the clientele! Went twice in almost as many days; great experience both times. Always looking for authentic Mexican food and this little gem is just down the street. Tucked in a strip mall and overshadowed by a chain restaurant right next door it is hard to find but well worth it. The Mango margarita is not too bad but beware the large resembles a small swimming pool so save it for a weekend night! The tacos are great and my favorite are the tamales! Hurry before it gets discovered and the lines start forming. read more

MMMMM! The whole entire meal was phenomenal. Not only that but the service was also AMAZING. Me and my family ordered online because of COVID-19 and the delivery got here when they said they would be here, the driver was extremely nice. when the food got to my house it wasn't cold are to hot it was all still warm. WE LOVED IT!!! I highly recommend the restaurant if you are looking for a lot of food for a lot less! read more

The meal was still hot when we got it and the delivery lady was so nice. The taquitos were mouth watering, the chimichangas were fantastic, the flautas were delicious. My whole family ate until they were stuffed and we still had left-overs for tomorrow. I will definitely eat with them again. I'd give more stars if I could. read more

Omg, my wife and I love this place. The Queso is a must order every time and they always hook it up with a ton of chips. The staff might be the nicest people I've ever met and the food matches. We usually get the Pollo Fundido or Burrito Blanco but everything there tastes amazing. read more
