    $21 Crazy Donkey
    Teresa M.

We came in around 830pm as a last minute decision because a lot of places were already closed & we didn't want public food & were so over-pizzad, we needed something else. There were 2 other occupied tables on arrival. Staff primarily spoke in Spanish to each other and English to patrons. I speak both languages and that allowed me to hear what staff were saying on both ends. The building is rather large with ample seating. We were given water, chips & salsa right away, as well as very large menus... probably too large. The hubs got the crazy donkey burrito, which has tasty skirt steak & i did the maxatlan burrito, which had rather plain shrimp. Authentic Mexican and a blob of sour cream don't go together for me but all of the burritos appeared to be topped with it. As a sour cream lover, I don't mind it. The portions were huge & the food was hot. Prices were high at nearly $22 per burrito, comparatively speaking to other similar restaurants. We enjoyed the salsa & we certainly overate, as we were travel and had no option to take leftover food with us. Service was decent and a 2nd set of chips & salsa was brought out. Neither of us finished out food & it came to $48/2, after tax with water to drink.

I ordered the vegetarian taco salad, which was good, and the churros for dessert. Overall, it was an okay experience, but nothing particularly stood out.

Went here for Cinco De Mayo and it was pretty busy. The hostess could have done a way better job at keeping track of tables open and order of the list...but this review is mainly about the food because it's been some time since I had some decent Mexican food. Queso was super good and flavorful and the best I've had out in the Spokane area. Chips were good and crunchy not to salty or oily, margs were pretty good for the size and price. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned and cooked not too dry like some I've had. The atmosphere was pretty good not to loud or quiet. Also the worker Diego was phenomenal paying attention to everyone from chips and salsa refills, more water, to clearing out tables to get the line moving. That dude was the hardest worker and deserves a raise!

I can't say enough good things about this location! We come here all the time for nachos. Today in particular we got nachos but they accidentally put beans on it after we asked for none. Obviously accidents happen and they never do this so no biggie! I felt so bad even returning them for a new order but they were so kind and replaced the nachos and gave us more salsa and a free small dessert. Being pregnant and hormonal this made my whole night. I love rancho viejo

Very nice staff and very prompt. Had the chili Colorado wi to h beans, rice and salad. Excellent flavor and thought I was back home in Texas. Great lunch and will be back. Go and enjoy some traditional Mexican food.

Decent food, but the waiters are absolute jerks and we've been overcharged several times.

The birria is delicious and the most authentic I have had so far in any restaurant in the states. The staff is amazing. There is plenty of seating so even if it looks busy, there are still tables available. The staff is constantly walking around cleaning off tables, asking you if you need anything in a friendly, respectful way. Not in a way that would make you feel uncomfortable or rushed. The food was amazing, the people were great, and I was excited to come back. Yesterday, my girlfriend and I planned a date night and decided to order from here again. Since we have kids, we did pickup. We drove about 25 minutes, then waited another 25 minutes because the line was packed which I didn't mind because the food was that good the first time. But this time? Completely different experience. I ordered a bean burrito with cheese... and it had no beans. Just rice and cheese in a tortilla. Then the nachos, honestly, for $27, this was unacceptable. Dry chips, unmelted cheese, some tomatoes thrown on top, no meat, no beans just thrown together with no care. It looked and tasted like an afterthought. What made it worse is the lack of accountability. I tried calling multiple times last night and again this morning no answer. Calls just ring or don't go through. I even tried calling from different numbers. Nothing. At this point, it's not even about the money it's the principle. Mistakes happen, but not being able to reach anyone or have them make it right is frustrating. I really wanted to keep supporting this place because the first experience was great, but this completely missed the mark. If you go, just be aware the quality and consistency might not be what you expect.

When we walked in we were pretty much greeted right away and sat immediately and were given lunch and beverage menus. As we looked over the menu, a server brought us warm chips and salsa and took our drink order. Drinks were served quickly and so was our order. I got the taco salad with traditional ground beef and my friend ordered the 2 enchiladas combo meal, one with ground beef and the other with chicken. Food arrived pretty quick and both plates were hot and looked super fresh. My taco salad shell had a great cook to it, not overly crunchy hurting your gums but definitely not soggy either. It was a perfect tender crunch. Visually the lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheeses were bright, crisp, and really fresh. The ground beef was flavorful and not overly seasoned and I loved that it was still juicy, not greasy. Although it was a simple taco salad, each ingredient stood out on its own and the fresh guac and sour cream complimented the meal well making for a nice lunch. My friend said the enchilada meal is a fav and also favored the ground beef vs the chicken. However, it's worth noting the chicken was good too but today it seemed like the ground beef was on point for the both of us. For being lunch time, there were quite a few tables of lunch-goers but oddly the ambience was chill and the noise level was low. We had 2 different servers taking care of our table and had no issues whatsoever. We'll be back again!
