The waitress was sweet, but remained slow throughout the entire meal. Our waitress never offered drink refills, and we waited extended periods for a to-go box and our check before finally going to the cashier ourselves. The biggest issue was a strong sewage-like odor coming from the restroom area. We were seated nearby, and every time the bathroom doors opened, the smell drifted into the dining room. Even the handwashing station in the dining area had the same unpleasant odor. The food looked great when it arrived, and the chips and salsa seemed fresh. However, I was disappointed to learn they no longer serve guacamole with their fajitas. The chicken fajitas arrived sizzling hot, but became very dry as they cooled. They were spicy, but lacked much flavor. The rice and beans were good. Overall, between the slow service, unpleasant smell, and mediocre food, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Waco that I'd try before coming back here.

I recently visited Cases de Castillo, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The food was terrible - the chimichanga was overly oily and just didn't taste good. To make matters worse, they got our order wrong. After taking a bite of the chimichanga, I immediately started feeling nauseous. I decided to call the manager about it, even though it was a few days later due to everything that had been going on. However, when I explained the situation, the manager was unhelpful and refused to take the food back or offer a replacement. He simply stated that they couldn't do anything about it, despite me still having the food in the bag and clearly explaining how bad it was. Overall, it was a frustrating and unsatisfactory experience, and I won't be returning. read more

What a great meal, friendly service and hospitality we encountered tonight! My husband got the chicken chimichanga which he loved, I got the grande burrito..They weren't kidding when they said grande, it was huge! I will be eating my leftovers for days! The food came out quickly, We were leaving and ended up speaking with MaryLou Castillo, unknowingly at first. We expressed what a pleasant staff they had and she introduced herself to us. I see why their staff was so friendly, she has outstanding customer service. Such a pleasure to find a family owned restaurant that takes the time to care about their customers! Casa de Castillo is our favorite Mexican food restaurant. The Antonio is our favorite dinner, but we like everything that we have tried there. We go there so often that we don't even need a menu anymore! Everyone, from the owners to the servers, are friendly and make you feel at home. We have had many family celebrations there with large groups, and they turned out very well. We always find great food, family, and friends with the Castillo family! read more

This place is too expensive and charges a ridiculous "Service Fee" more like pay us for crappy service. Ordered fajitas for 2 for $33 and only got about 8 strips of meat. Thinking it was a mixuo I came back a few weeks later and ordered the same and sure enough, 8 strips of fajitas. I'm never coming back again. Who puts chili sauce on enchiladas? I've eaten at the Casa (previously the Italian Village) since the mid 60's and have had the honor of knowing the grandparents and father of this family who I have the greatest respect and admiration for. My favorite Mexican food in Waco! Can take or leave the salsa - too runny for my tastes - but the enchiladas are fabulous (I especially like the chicken and sour cream with salsa verde).
