I love Ninfa's! Service here is always friendly and upbeat. There's a decent size parking lot in front. I like the plants and Mexican decor. They have a taco salad that is absolutely delicious! Their margaritas are also on point. The Waco restaurant is a little more homey and not quite as luxe feeling as the Houston locations, but it can be solidly relied upon for good, filling Tex-Mex, so I love to stop by when I'm in town. read more

we miss the old Nifas. Sat night, place empty. Carnitas: a large dry chunk of pork served in a scalding hot plate that burned skin. Don Quixote chili rellenos , waitstaff " I needed to pay an extra $3+ to have anything but cheese". It was embarrassing in front of our guests. and it was wrong, their menu still states ground beef and chicken are still an option with the cheese. Very expensive small plate of guacamole. Spicy salsa also very small portion and neither worth price charged. We end the night by the waitress announcing we need to pay a 3% +fee if we use a visa. I stated " that's new" she snapped I need to read the policy on the receipt. After decades, we will not return. read more

Ninfa's was aggressively fine, and honestly, sometimes that's enough. I got the smothered burrito with the "spicy" ground beef, and someone else in our group got the chicken quesadilla. Nothing was bad by any means. Portions were pretty large, the chips were fresh, and the free salsa was actually surprisingly spicy in a good way, which I appreciated. It had a little more attitude than I expected. That said, everything else was very generic Mexican restaurant energy. Not bad generic, just very "yep, this is Mexican food near me" generic. It hits when you're with a picky eater and need something safe that everyone can survive, but nothing really felt elevated or memorable. The food came out in about 15 minutes, service was fine, and the place was pretty quiet when we got there before getting busier as we were leaving. My only real side-eye was the payment screen starting the tip options at 25%, which is becoming one of my least favorite modern restaurant jump scares. Overall, it was perfectly fine. Three stars in the most non-hostile way possible. I'm not mad I went, but I'm also probably not planning my next Waco trip around a return visit. read more

The staff is kind and friendly! The food tells a different story. Was in town visiting a friend and decided to eat here. Ordered enchiladas and the chicken was dry and then we ordered another enchilada plate with carne con queso but it was just the same cheese they use for dip and not the correct cheese for enchiladas. The chips and salsa was good and the margaritas were okay but we got the frozen margaritas and they were too thick to drink almost yogurt like. I don't recommend this place but if you are limited on places to eat just be cautious with the menu. read more

We visit this restaurant almost weekly. Today's experience was probably the least enjoyable that we've ever had. We had a waiter named Julio. He was very friendly, but very slow. He didn't bring what we needed when we asked for it. I had to ask for green sauce three times. I never got a refill on my Diet Coke and I finally had to ask another lady who works there, if she would tell him that I needed the Diet Coke "to go". Then , we didn't get our bill until we sat there for at least another 20 minutes or more ...waiting ...and waiting. We had already finished eating and we never got the bill and he never came back to check on anything or ask if I needed a refill on my diet cola. Normally, the servers at this restaurant will bring a refill without me even having to ask. It was upsetting because our bill was about $37. We come here often and I'm very disappointed because we have always enjoyed our experiences here. But today was just not a good one. Then, when I finally got my Diet Coke refill, "to go", I was afraid to drink it. I threw it out on the way outside because he set it down and acted upset with me. I had a bad feeling & I didn't trust to drink it. I did not have a good feeling when we left the restaurant. It's really sad because this is one of our favorite restaurants to come to. Thank you for allowing me to do this review. But the food tasted wonderful. The lady that helped us in the end, She was really helpful and kind. The food was wonderful. We got the EL Tommie and it tasted great. The ambiance in this restaurant is beautiful with the colors and the stained glass and it's just a really nice atmosphere. But the service today was just like it's never been before here. We're really always satisfied and overly satisfied. Came here for lunch with a coworker and had a good experience! The service was great, very fast and our server was very nice. The restaurant itself was cute and had a ton of seating. I really enjoyed the complimentary salsa verde, it was kind of creamy so be mindful because it probably contains dairy. I ordered the crawfish enchiladas and they were pretty good. I've been to this location twice. Happened to be here at lunch this time and had the Tejas combo. So yummy! They bring you a large basket of chips and two types of salsa for an appetizer. The combo was perfect. An enchilada, hard shell taco, and fajitas. I could do without the rice and beans but they are tasty but I try to avoid overdosing on carbs. Since I love the chips I spend my carb allowance on those. We ate in the bar and it was nice and service was well paced. Plus it was quiet. We definitely will eat here when in the area. I thought Ninfa's went under sometime back in the 1990s. There was one in Austin - I remember it being really freakin' good - but it shut down and I cannot recall seeing another Ninfa's anywhere for the past 25 years or so. But then I discovered this location coming through Waco at dinnertime a while back, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a Ninfa's, to say the least. So we parked and headed in, and discovered they had... crawdad enchiladas. Yes, enchiladas stuffed with little mudbug tails. A dream come true. OMG. They were quite simply THE BEST enchiladas I have ever had in my entire life! I'm not even kidding. I am freaking out just thinking about them as I write this... COCK-A-DOODLE-DO! SO GOOD! I don't remember anything else. It doesn't matter. Crawdad enchiladas. Holy moly, it was perfect. From this point forward anytime I pass through Waco hungry, I'm going to come here and eat the crawdad enchiladas again. And again, and again, and again. Service was great over the weekend . Server kept checking on us even as busy as they were and kept our teas filled . We ordered nachos and the beef was melt in your mouth with flavor but the chicken had no flavor and was watery . I would say the food is three stars but a point extra for the generous portion of fajitas and the service here is excellent. Why three stars? I think as with most older TexMex establishments the seasoning is very light handed and Ninfa's falls into this category. I ordered El Tommie which is 1/2lb of meat. The fajita meat was tender though not as sizzling as I would've liked to have it. The charro beans were tasty too. I liked how they also have just enough toppings to control food waste. The margaritas are good though a little on the sweet end - so on my second drink I opted for the dosarita which is a marg and a beer. Adding the beer made the drink less sweet. The restaurant is stunning too. If you are passing through it's worth a stop. The complex houses allot of other shops, restaurants l, and bars. Parking on a weeknight is tight so be prepared to park a little further out. read more

We walked in after a graduation at Baylor and we were immediately seated which was awesome! Our server was great and attentive. The vibe was nice and chill and as the crowd grew the restaurant still remain comfortable and enjoyable, not to loud or overwhelming. The food was pretty pricey and it was good but I have had better. I wasn't the biggest fan of the rice but the green salsa was EXCELLENT. I do think it's a place everyone should try b/c it was good but I just have my favs when it comes to Mexican food. read more

It's taste like chipped beef that I could've bought at H-E-B out of the freezer section thawed out slapped on a flower tortilla. "But winter girls have lovin' arms To warm a winter day" (The Lovin' Spoonful) Warm salsa! I've never before been served a bowl of warm freshly cooked salsa with my chips. And let me tell ya, buddy - it was outstanding. Wow, oh wow were we impressed with Ninfa's. The two story dining room is huge and gorgeous, with colorful decor and decorations everywhere. We started off with complimentary chips and two salsas -red and green. The green was mild, and that red was the one served warm and had quite a high score on the old Zip meter. It was fabulous, as far as my tastes for spice goes. We ordered two dishes from their lunch menu. The first was - La Plaza ($9.99) - a ground beef crispy taco and a cheddar cheese enchilada topped with enchilada sauce and served with Mexican rice and refried beans. The second was La Riviera ($12.25) - a choice of three bowls of soup with two crispy corn tacos (I did one Ground Beef and one Ranchera Chicken) served with rice, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce and tortilla strips. La Riviera was mine and I loved it. The tortilla soup was very flavorful and loaded with mushrooms, vegetables and melted cheese. What impressed me about the tacos was how jam packed with the ground beef and shredded chicken fillings they had. Service was average, and the only real downer was the piggish $3.49 charge for an unsweetened iced tea. That seemed mucho expensive, probably twice as much as it should have been. read more

Not bad Tex-Mex, but not as good as the original. This is a hard review because I had just eaten at the original Ninfas on Navigation in Houston. While on one hand the menu is mostly a copy of the original Ninfas with the same dishes. However its like everything is a Hollow reflection of the original. Because of that and the price Im taking the 3.5 stars and edging to 3. Service was good, sat at the bar on a busy night and my order was taken right away and everything came out quickly and properly. Chips and salsa were above average, nice spice to the red salsa. Cadillac Margarita was good enough for a second round. A little pricy for the size, but very good. Tejas Combo- this was the same dish I had at the original Ninfas last time. So I ordered it to give a direct comparison. Beans and rice were fine. Taco was good with a crisp shell, possibly the highlight of the plate. The cheese enchilada was fine. The fajita was a touch overcooked and little chewy. The tortillas were very good. The biggest disappointment for me was the Cheese enchilada, I was hopping for a large tortilla overflowing with soft cheese, this one was a bit small with a moderate amount of cheese. The plate compared to the originals it was about $5 cheaper, however the quality was a noticeable step down. Not that this was a bad plate of food, just not the best. And when you are paying $17 for a plate I would have expected a bit better. If you are in Waco and want Tex-Mex this is a fine place to eat. If the price was a bit lower that would be even better. Expect to drop about $40 per adult if you get a drink. read more
