I had the Pastor tacos one of the three was just fat, and did not know till it arrived it is mixed with pineapples. /: my rice tasted like straight butter, my coke was flat. The Mexican corn was delicious. My fiancé got the Redfish and forced himself to eat as we were both just so starving. Both his sides were flavorless the long rice and cabbage.. I will add Jordan was our waitress and she was amazing! Very attentive and friendly. Notified her of our review of the food and she was very understanding and apologetic. We saw the large billboard on the highway and decided to try this place out as we were driving thru Waco. Wow, this place is huge with a ton of dining inside. We were seated right away at a table for 6 though we only had two people. I know why they were voted best for chips and salsa.. the chips are super thin and crunchy and that red sauce was deep red and flavorful. I absolutely love flautas and boy these were thee biggest flautas I have ever had. Definitely get the chimichurri rice and the pinto beans (the ones with the sauce and bacon) The hubs got tacos and comes out on a taco stand! We're grateful that he was able to get it without all the cheese and sour cream (a huge plus for Jorge's!) This place is good for those with dairy intolerance! Our waitress was pleasant and I thought she took my food off the bill for me because I didn't like the taste of it, at all. I took only one bite. But she did not remove my food from the bill, at first ...The patio is really cute, but my husband and I neither one of us liked our food. It was just not up to par at all. From the chips to the dip to the tacos to the chimichanga just wasn't very good taste. The waitress took my food away after one bite because I told her I didn't like it. She did not take it off the bill. We had to ask her to remove it. I wasn't going to pay for something that I didn't like at all... Her name is Audrey. To start, the ambiance is fun and inviting. We were promptly seated in a large booth for just my wife and I. The food was great. We had never eaten here before and thought it would be a good date night. However, our service was a bit lack luster. The server may have been new, as he never introduced himself. We were still in the process of eating when he asked if we wanted to-go boxes. We also had to ask for the desert menu in order to get one. Both having experience in the hospitality industry and my wife being the GM of a restaurant may cause us to have exceptionally high standards. Although, this no excuse for lack in service. We did not have the luxury of meeting the manager on duty as we did not see one table touch or do any service recovery. Overall this was a good experience and more than likely would have been a better experience with a more experienced server. Training is definitely needed. read more

I've ate there 4×3 out of the four times I've been disappointed. This is definitely not a restaurant for date night. It's way too wide open. You call you make a reservation. You explain to them that it's date night you'd like someplace quiet with your wife and I understand that can't always happen, but that doesn't mean that you get set at the first table in the Doorway . We basically got to greet every person that came and left that restaurant. It was not a pleasant experience spoke with the manager. She didn't really seem to care. She offered to Comp. Us a dessert and then after that, I ordered the pork chop, which was raw in the middle. There was no response to that so I probably won't be going back there. read more

Jorge's Cantina just jumped straight into my regular rotation. The place looks fantastic, a clean and upscale twist on a Mexican cantina without losing the fun vibe. You walk in and instantly feel like you're in the right place for a good meal. The service was spot on. My server was new, but you wouldn't have known it. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything hit the table exactly how it should be. Now for the food. I went with the pork carnitas street tacos, and these things were loaded. Tender, juicy carnitas, fresh tomatoes, a touch of Chihuahua cheese, and a warm tortilla that held up perfectly. Every bite was full of flavor. The lime rice was good, although it could use a touch more seasoning, and the black beans were excellent, rich, and incredibly flavorful. I also tried the chips and salsa. The chips were light and crispy, exactly how they should be. The salsas were solid, but the verde had the edge. It had more heat, more depth, and honestly, more personality than the red. Everything about the meal worked. Great atmosphere, great service, and really good food. This is a fantastic offshoot of the legendary Jorge's in Waco, and I'll definitely be back read more

SERVICE IS EXCELLENT!! We had the fried chicken torta based on the server's/bar tender's suggestion...Excellent choice! However, the Chicken Tortilla Soup needs HELP. The CTS came out cold 2x...seriously? Soups should come out steaming. YES, it did taste flavorful and eventually came out at temperature hot. Finally, the third try was a charm! Salsas are both excellent, Red & Green were flavorful although we preferred the mild kick of the red. The homemade tortillas do get an Honorable Mention Pass. I do prefer mine slightly toastier. We came here on a Saturday night while in Waco, and the food was decent. We had 7 people total (3 kids); everything the kids got seemed to make them happy. There were a few mishaps for us adults though. First we ordered drinks and they got those wrong, and then took a good 20ish minutes before they finally brought out the right drink, even though we pointed out the mistake as soon as they dropped the wrong drinks at the table. The guys that ordered steak said their steak was pretty overcooked, although the baby back ribs were apparently delicious. I got the chicken tortilla soup, and calling it soup is an overstatement. It was mainly tortilla strips and big chunks of avocado with a little bit of sauce-like soup over the top. It was good, but it's not "soup" by any means. We did start the meal with the dip trip, which was really good, but the chips were slightly stale. The service was slow, but I'll give them grace because it was a Saturday evening and they were pretty busy. All in all, it was good, but not sure if I would go back there again if given the chance. read more

The ambience is nice at Jorge's and the staff was very friendly. The chips and two salsas were pretty good, I much preferred the tomatillo salsa to the darker roasted salsa. The food came out pretty quickly, they forgot my charro beans but my wife gave me the rest of her's, and they were good. We ordered mexican rice but they brought out cilantro lime rice that had a strong mint flavor. It was different, but pretty good. The mains were pretty good, I think they had sat a while as they were not real hot. The restaurant was very clean and nice looking, and the bathroowere too. read more

Jorge's has a interesting take on local TexMex. We have dubbed it "WacoMex". After growing up in south Texas with excellent TexMex, we were not thrilled. Their appetizers are good. (Guac, queso, not spicy jalepeno ranch dip). They have alot of menu options. Many are rather inventive. My hubby ordered the custom enchiladas choosing rotisserie chicken and hatch cream sauce. The chicken was bland and there was no kick to the hatch sauce that you would expect. The el gringo tacos are well.... basically a deconstructed cheese hamburger in a corn tortilla then fries piled on top. Not very appetizing. Full disclosure I meant to order the barbacoa tacos so it was quite a surprise when it arrived. Just not really for me. Now the service was great and really friendly. And the restaurant is very nice so they get a star back for service and the ambiance. Would I go back? Humm I think so. I'd like to see them offered a few more traditional TexMex dishes. read more

Cold Food! Went to Jorge's recently and the service was great super quick seating and our server was really friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the service. We tried the $5 queso and salsa trio and the white cheese was just cold, not hot. My fish tacos came out cold and the sides were tiny. My husband's quesadilla wasn't even toasted and the cheese wasn't melted. Service was the highlight, but the food was a letdown. But the restaurant its self was very nice. read more

Not a great experience at all. Was in town on a Wednesday night, sat at the Bar for dinner. Took a while to order my beer and food for dinner as the bartender seemed a bit rushed. Not sure if they wereshortstaffed, as staff were coming behind the bar, grabbing drinks I guess, and 1 waitress even yelled a margarita order. It didn't get any better from there as the service was mediocre, and the whole place seemed disoriented, and they weren't really that busy. We came here for dinner the other day with family on a Saturday evening. While it was busy there was only a short wait. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant itself is modern, clean, and has a fun vibe. I ordered the mole barbacoa brisket enchiladas. Honestly some of the best mole enchiladas I've had! I also absolutely loved the chimichurri basmati rice that came with it - tempted to try and recreate that at home. You also get free chips/salsa at the table, which is always appreciated. I got a frozen paloma, which was strong but in a good and tasty way! Everyone else at the table was happy with what they got, so I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything here. I'd say the restaurant is Tex-Mex but leaning more Mexican than your typical Tex-Mex, which I appreciated. Definitely would recommend if in Waco or nearby! read more

This had to be the worst Mexican food we've ever had. The rice was crunchy, and tasteless. Both types of rice. The charro beans had a weird flavor. Same for the refried beans. The green salsa was okay, but the red salsa was terrible. I had the flautas, and they were not good at all. My husband had Tres Traditional. He said the enchilada was okay, he did not like the flauta and chicken taco. It was missing the dipping sauce too. Even the street corn in a bowl was funky. This is a must stop experience in Waco! Our entire experience was top notch, from beginning to end. Service was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable of their menu and cuisine. Atmosphere was super lively, very clean, and definitely fast paced. Food was a show stopper! The flavors were so vibrant and fresh, portions were perfect and the drinks were fabulous. Great place for a family gathering . Called on Friday to make a reservation for Sunday a human answered that was really terrific and then I got a text confirming the reservation. There were six of us and we went to celebrate my sister's birthday. I asked if we could come a little early to decorate the table and they were fine with that even though it was right before their Sunday rush. SERENNITY was our server. She did a phenomenal job. She even handled MY HUSBAND's teasing very well. We had three different appetizers queso the street corn and bacon wrapped shrimp all was really good. Can't say enough about the Chicharrones. we had a little problem with the red fish, but, She Took it right back and took it off our bill. We had two flights of margaritas and regular margarita all was really great. Normally we have to add for an extra shot, but the ratios were really good. We had friends visiting us from Virginia who had never been to Texas and never experienced TexMex. We thought bringing them to Jorge's would be a good fit, since our intiial visit was so good. WRONG! 3 of us ordered the grilled brussell sprouts with pineapple as a side, all 3 of them were cold. Our friends both ordered fajitas and they were not impressed. the food was not hot.
