We really wanted to like Wako Taco, but our experience was just okay. We ordered tacos that were supposed to come with pico, but they had Baja sauce instead. Unfortunately, the sauce made them super spicy, and we could barely eat them. Since we picked up our order, we didn't realize the mix-up until it was too late to fix it. On the bright side, the guacamole was the best part--super fresh and delicious! Overall, the flavors had potential, but the order mistake really took away from the experience. read more

Stopped in while passing through town. So glad I did! Very clean and pleasant dining area. The staff is very friendly and polite. It was lunchtime and there were only 4 other parties in the restaurant. Food came out quickly and with a nice presentation. I had the birria taco plate. This place is amazing! Fabulous staff, and yummmmmmy food. The burritos are soooooo good. The tortilla shells are clearly homemade and taste incredible. Skip the tacos and get a burrito. Wako Taco: My Grandma Might Be Offended, But She'll Understand I never give perfect reviews. Even my grandma's cooking gets a 9.5 just to keep her humble. But Wako Taco? It's a 10 out of 10 no joke!, just wow. We came in for breakfast, and from the first bite, I felt like I was back in my grandma's kitchen... if her kitchen had a designer's touch and a brunch menu that could win awards. I had the huevos rancheros with egg whites, and let me tell you, even with the healthy twist, the flavors were rich, bold, and so authentically Mexican it made me want to call my tia choocha and brag. My husband had the chilaquiles, and I didn't get more than one bite before he protected his plate like it was his last meal. That's how you know it's good. And then there was the French toast.. we split it for "dessert" (because that's a thing now), and it was pure, cinnamon-kissed, crispy-edged happiness. The vibe? Elevated but warm. Classy without being pretentious. This place knows who it is, and it's not trying too hard--it's just that good. Wako Taco didn't just impress me it rewrote my breakfast standards. Yum, yum, YUM! Service was excellent and food was amazing. The quesabirria and consome were super good, especially with the spicy green sauce. I've had my fair share of churros and I'm fairly certain these are the best I've ever had. They were freshly prepared, so they were hot and crispy on the outside by so soft on the inside and the whipped cream and chocolate sauce just pushed it over the edge. Bought a breakfast burrito from them this morning. My first experience and I'll definitely be going back. The tortilla was very good. Not none of that stuff that comes in the bag. My wife had a fajita chicken quesadilla which she felt was a little boring in flavor...the meat was tender, and the tortilla was fresh, but she wished she had gotten it jazzed up. Maybe that is on us. I enjoyed the three birria tacos and they were huge. And delicious. The staff was the best, making sure we had what we needed and in general being very friendly. We have driven by over the past year, thinking that because the sign and the building were so pretty, it was just another trendy place. We finally got around to trying it for lunch in person - and we were completely blown away. The food is AMAZING. Great portions, good flavor, spice if you're into that but mild if you're not, complimentary chips and salsa for the table if you're eating in. Ordered a special steak quesadilla and it came exactly as ordered, with enough food for leftovers. And obviously, get the churros with ice cream to finish. The server was also wonderful and it was a great experience we are still talking about. We have also tried it for breakfast now - same experience! You can't go wrong here at any time of day. I am going to give this place 4 stars. The prices are a bit high, but the food was great. I am from California where taco prices are fairly insane and this place rivals those prices. That, and the decor are the only things that I can knock about this place. I went there with my wife and son and my son had the birria tacos and they are pretty good. I haven't had any authentic birria to compare that to, but what they served us was quite tasty. My wife had the fish tacos plate and their fish was fried very well and tasted great. I would put them in my top 5 best fish tacos. I had the Baylor tacos. I am really never a fan of steak tacos, but these were extremely tasty and tender. Other than some prime carne asada I have had from a Mexican meat market in Anaheim, CA, these are arguably the best beef in a taco I have ever had. Even their beans and rice were very good as well. Wako Taco had to be the most surprising stop in Waco. I don't know what I expected originally, but it was not the incredible breakfast burrito I ordered. I still dream about this burrito. If you're in Waco, TX this should be your first stop. The eggs in the burrito were perfectly scrambled, bacon crispy yet not burnt, and the perfect amount of cheese.
