Food- good but salty. Service- Very good Ambiance-as expected. With so many other choices in town, I'll probably try somewhere else before going back. I've been before and it wasn't too salty, but this time it was over-the-top and the guacamole made at the Table-side did not taste normal. It had an odd taste and we would not order that again . read more

This is my wife and my go to Mexican Restaurant. Our first time we were kind of blown away but have come to expect a lot and they always deliver. Great carne asada. The Al pastor is also very good. I can continue making a list because everything I've had was great. We had a long conversation with our server about traveling. Just friendly people. read more

Okay. And if just okay is what you're about, go for it! For us it was, alas, bland and decidedly without spice. Everything presents well and the servers are pleasant. There's nothing wrong with 'pleasant', and that's what the margarita was too. It was okay and, uh, 'pleasant' if low in alcohol content. The loud and garish inside decor is fun. There are better options by the score, even in suburbia. read more

I really dislike giving bad reviews but this is the first time I ever had tortilla soup that I struggled to finish. It just tasted like saltwater. There was a ton of cheese that had melted into a ball at the bottom where all the onions, tomatoes and chicken had coagulated into it. Only the avocado floated at the top like drowning souls hoping to escape. I enjoyed scooping the pieces onto a chip and eating them, but I felt swollen and tired after eating the soup. I'll never get that again. P had the chile colorado burrito (Express) which had enchilada sauce all over it. As a native El Pasoan, he thought it was some kind of mistake. They don't serve burritos wet where he grew up. He said it was decent but not great. Would have liked to love it. The people there were really nice and it had a cheerful, colorful ambiance all throughout the interior. Plenty of strip mall parking. read more

Table side guac is great. Their carne asada is almost too good. The staff is always nice, helpful, and attentive.

Had lunch at Casa Colima today. We enjoyed it a lot. The ambiance is typical Mexican restaurant--colorful and comfortable. The service was fast and the food nice and hot. I had a chicken mole enchilada and a chile relleno served with refried beans and Mexican rice. Everything was tasty and delicious. forgot to take a photo. We will go back here when we want a Mexican dinner! read more

It looks like a place to get some authentic Mexican. My trip proved regretful. Saturday afternoon, pretty busy time apparently. No lunch menu, okay no problem. I ordered a "dinner size" enchilada plate. I have never been so underwhelmed with an enchilada. The sauce was seriously like spaghetti o's can tomato sauce & the entire thing was bland. The plate was hot, but the cheese in the enchilada was like a bar of rubber, and everything else was kinda warm. Not hot. I didn't even eat it all. Very unusual for me. I couldn't it was that bad. The people were nice - except the waitress at the end - I went to cash out, and that seemed to bother her that I wasn't waiting at my table? I was over it after 2 bites of food. I won't be back, there are other options in town. read more

Casa Colima - Cafeteria style ? No. Just no thank you. - Mexican Near Me - Vancouver, Washington

I am originally from Tucson AZ. I grew up across the US, in places like Virginia, Maine, Utah, Wisconsin, Washington.... I have eaten many dishes at innumerable mexican restaurants, both authentic and the White Boy Hot Sauce variety. When I tell you this is probably the worst meal i have ever had in a "mexican" dining establishment, I mean it from the deepest, darkest recesses of my heart. A place even the foulest creatures of middle-earth wouldn't dare roam. A place so unfathomable to modern man, it should be in a Lovecraft story. Let me set the scene. It's two days before my wife's birthday and her family wants to take her to dinner. We see Casa Colima on google with rave reviews. We love mexican food. Gucci gucci Louis louis. I order the fried tilapia, my wife got the grandote burrito, her family ordered a few combo plates (one of them got the burger, surely the safest, possibly the best choice of all) and spirits were high. I destroyed two bowls of chips and salsa, eager to make some gnarly tilapia tacos with my bare, sweaty hands. When the dishes arrived, it was like the air was sucked out of the room. Sight had no color. Hearing had no sound. We had stepped into another dimension, one where the entire goal of existence was to offend every possible sense of the human body and mind and torture you in a food purgatory fit only for true demons of humanity. My tilapia looked and smelled like it was dredged up from the sewer, left outside for two days in Tacoma and then thrown in a microwave as carelessly as one throws old McDonalds fries into one. Flies began circling. I cannot make this shit up. My wife's burrito had chicken that was rubbery, grey, devoid of any love, tender or true. Soulless. Her mothers dish? Made wrong *and* given to the wrong person at the table. She made it through about half a.... burrito? Whatever they put on the plate could barely pass for cat food for my overweight, disabled chunky little man. Another member of our group re-ordered twice and still got the wrong thing. A close confidant ordered the siete mares, and was bewildered at the devious concoction laid before him, including the worst octopus I'd ever gazed upon (and i am no stranger to enjoying octopus or squid in a succulent asian meal). Nobody, out of 6 people, finished their meal, nor were offered take home boxes; the staff didn't even believe their own lies. This is the grimmest, saddest "mexican" place I have ever eaten at. The staff were nice but deep inside, I could sense the anguish they were in at having to peddle this slop to unsuspecting victims in the Vancouver area. This place had flies all over, nothing close to resembling fresh food, and prices so high I almost took out a mortgage on my house to pay for my meal alone. What low prices are people talking about? A soda is 5$. The cheapest dish *I* saw was about 16$. I've had better meals at Miguel's Chalupa Barn in midwest America or Valerie's in a refurbished Sonic in Cedar City UT. This was our first time visiting Casa Colima and it won't be my last. I LOVED the colorful decor and the friendly service. The restaurant is also very comfortable and fun for a really nice family dinner. We loved the tableside Guacamole and the delicious chips, salsa, AND warm bean dip. I had one of the combination platters. It also came with their delicious beans and rice. The dinner was good. The only improvements I can add is the need to add a little more beef to the chimichanga as there was more cheese than meat and the masa on the tamale was a little underdone. Other than that, I really enjoyed my meal and look forward to trying more on the menu. I'm glad we found this place and look forward to my next visit. read more

We were greeted and seated promptly. As soon as we sat down chips & salsa were brought to our table. The salsa was good and came with very crunchy tortilla chips. Service was top notch and they checked on us often topping our water cups, salsa and chips. We had the chimichanga - one plate as a combo and the other was wet chimi. The wet chimi was with beef fajitas and it was excellent. Meat was tender and veggies were perfect (not mushy). The combo chimi was with chicken and it had generous amounts of shredded chicken. It has become to be one of our favorite mexican restaurant. read more

I'll never go back. Poor quality food. Tortilla soup was the worst I've ever tried. And I've tried a lot. Huge lump of chewy in Unmeltable cheese at the bottom. Soup was just not very flavorful. Salsa choices are bland with no heat or super hot. No in between. Staff were nice and courteous. Food quality very poor. We have lots of great choices in the PNW, I recommend choosing somewhere else. NOT authentic as advertised. read more

It was super busy the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We've never had to wait to be seated. We know how tasty the food usually is here so we didn't mind waiting 20 minutes to be seated. The service was prompt and friendly Aw always. First let me tell you the things we loved: The table side guac!!!! Always So good, a superb choice every time! we like it with all the jalapeño and cojita! My Chile relleño was perfectly executed; filled all the way to the top with cheese and the Valentine's Day variation with white sauce was yummy! Now my man got his usual which he was happy with per usual. The 3 item combo with chicken burritos and tamale. There were a couple things I didn't like, which happens from time to time: The specialty cocktail "nobody but you" a vodka drink on the V-day menu. It was in a short glass and too strong for me. Stick to tequila! The strawberry margarita was more my speed. The fried ice cream we didn't even eat... IDK what it is about this dish but both times I've saved room for it at a restaurant it's been awful... such a let down. The outside wasn't "fried" at all it was a thin layer of chewy, stale cereal over low quality vanilla ice cream... I had high hopes because we love almost everything we've eaten here. They made it right and replaced the drink I didn't like and comped the dessert. This is our place. We will be back again. read more

UPDATE: I came here for lunch with my girlfriend. We have been here a couple times. Its one of our favorites. I had the special which was a chicken poblano mole. Mole can be hit or miss. This one was delicious! Depth of flavor was amazing. My only negative comment would be, the chicken was a little tough. I think it was grilled? Rice and beans always tasty here. I chose to have half flour and half corn tortillas. The corn were definitely better. My friend had a huge chili Colorado burrito. Very full of meat and super moist and tasty. Plenty of lettuce tomatoes sour cream and guacamole on top. She could not even finish it. The chips and salsa here are super good. Salsa tasty and a little spicy, chips fresh and plentiful. We had a perfect margarita which was strong and still flavorful. Love they put a slice an orange in it to round it out. I love the Decour in this place. Very bright and colorful. Lots of Mexican tiles and pictures. Love it. The service was very good. He took care of us going out of his way to make sure we were happy. Everything I have ever had here is super yummy. The guacamole is amazing. Check it out if you're this way. He will not be sorry. read more

For a restaurant in a strip mall, that's in a way out of the way location, I understand why it's so highly reviewed. I'm not gonna lie and say I'll ever come back, but it was a fantastic experience. Exceptional service from everyone. Maybe the best I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant in years. Very high quality and tasty food, but not perfect. While everything tastes good from the chips and salsa to the entree, none of it is the best I've ever had. They have a really nice looking restaurant, that's fancy and clean. But all things considered, this is a top tier Mexican restaurant. I think I'd go here somewhat regularly if I lived in Vancouver. But I don't, so this is not a stop I may ever make again. Everybody needs to come check this place out though. They're open 7 days a week, unlike Little Conejo, which is the establishment that makes this the SECOND highest rated in town. (I'll guess this place is better.) read more

The food was terrible.. The service was good, margaritas are premade so not good. Two people I know got sick after eating here.

Love the foo and service. However, with the rise in the Barría space, I decided to order a plate of Birria burrito. The meal tasted more like somebody's attempt at making stew with tomatoes. A poor attempt unfortunately. Lacking the the Latin spices and slow cooking. I complained to our waiter who would not exchange my dinner for something more in line with a Mexican meal. He even agreed this was not good compared to some of the food trucks around. read more

I don't know how it is possible, but the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, is in an unassuming strip mall in Vancouver, WA. Casa Colima is absolutely superb in every way! The wait staff are the most attentive and friendly I've ever experienced anywhere without being intrusive. The food is indescribably, amazingly, impossibly delicious. Portion sizes are gargantuan. Prices are low. The interior decor is bright and inviting without being gaudy. If was an overcast day on our visit, but you'd never be able to tell because everything felt so bright and inviting inside. As soon as you are seated, you'll be brought chips and salsa with the most amazing red salsa and hot bean dip - all the best I've ever had. The very instant your initial serving is empty, you'll be brought another. Fight off the temptation to overindulge on the chips, so that you'll have room for the rest of the amazing food. I got the carnitas chimichanga "wet" (covered with the most perfect red sauce I've ever tasted). I'm not exaggerating when I say it was like an amazing Thanksgiving dinner! The carnitas was the most flavorful I've ever tasted! This was also an absolutely gigantic chimichanga...I couldn't finish it in one sitting. My son got the chicken in mole sauce with corn tortillas (you have your choice of corn or flour). Again, the mole was astonishingly great! The layers of flavor and complexity thereof are indescribably complex and delicious. Also amazing is the care with which the chefs prepare the meats. There was not a single speck of fat, gristle, or anything other than meat in both dishes. Casa Colima offers a great dessert selection of flan, sopapillas, fried ice cream, and others. We opted for the fried ice cream. again, the quality and portion size were huge. Although we didn't try it (my son is allergic to avocado), they have a quacamole appetizer that is prepared fresh right at your table. I definitely want to try that in the future. Casa Colima is absolutely the best I or my son have ever experienced, and we're from Phoenix which is known of its outstanding Mexican restaurants. read more

Personally, I think it's the best Mexican food in the area. Clean, colorful decor and friendly service. We were seated right away. No long waits. We were given some salsa, bean dip and chips at our table. The menus are nothing to laugh at. Sooooo many choices to choose from. I ordered a simple burrito and my friend ordered chicken pollo mole. Serving sizes are not small, so come hungry. Everything was hot and fresh. Spiced up just right. Our server gave us a bottle of green chili sauce that was for extra added heat in case we needed it. We couldn't finish our meal so we were given some to-go boxes. Had a great experience and plan on going back. read more

Disappointed in this restaurant...the food mainly. Service was super fast. Staff were nice. The place looked clean. The complimentary chips and salsa and beans were not tasty. Chips were close to stale and bland. Beans were cold. Salsa was actually ok. We ordered shrimp tacos. Again, beans ice cold. Rice undercooked, crunchy even. The tacos were 80% lettuce, store bought tortillas and two shrimp chopped up to look like it was more. Three bites and that was enough. They were not good. Also had two ground beef enchiladas. Rice was same as above and enchiladas were not close to warm. No seasoning on the meat. There wasn't anything else. No pico, guacamole, or sour cream. We asked for our check and left pretty quickly. More upset that we battled an hour of traffic to eat there. Yelp let us down big time...or maybe it was an off night. ‍ read more

The greeter who seated us didn't smile, but the server was friendly. The salsa made this place promising, but that is where it ended. Took longer for the server to come back to take our order (10-15 minutes) than to get our food (5 minutes), showing that they likely threw pre-cooked ingredients together and microwaved it. Also, they even brought out the wrong taco salad. When I got the correct one, like, 2 minutes later, the chicken was tasty but pounded so thin it was as thin as a taco shell. Also, the crispy flour shell was thicker than normal and stale; it didn't taste like it was freshly made even today. Boyfriend's burrito tasted fine, and fried cheesecake was pretty good, but both again likely just heated up. We won't be back. read more

Tonight has been quite a treat! My daughter knows how I looove good Mexican food which is very hard to find outside of Mexico, no matter what city or state you are in, in the US! Well, my daughter and her 'Ohana had insisted that the food at Casa Colima is probably the best Mexican food here in Vancouver, WA! Tonight, we ordered a pretty large take out order of burritos , enchiladas, carne asada, chimichangas, tacos , taquitos, extra arroz, refined beans , guacamole and sour cream AND EVERYTHING WAS PHENOMENAL! I normally hesitate when it comes to Mexican restaurant refried beans because my Mexican sister spoiled me with her freshly made refried beans that was, in my opinion, the best EVER BUT this restaurant makes their refried beans just like she did, AMAZING! All the other food items we ordered were just as amazing as well! I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful flavors, presentation and the large portions! Service was great as well! We ordered by phone and he said our order would be ready in 15 - 20 minutes. It took us just over 20 minutes to drive to the restaurant from where we were located (at Barnes & Noble, off 4th Plain and Andersen) and they were just in the process of bagging our take out order! Would I recommend Casa Colima, ABSOLUTELY! Will I eat here again in my future visits to Vancouver, ABSOLUTELY! It's the closest to actually sitting at my sisters house in Mexico eating what she made!!! I give Casa Colima my personal five shaka () rating!!! read more

Was so excited to see a New Mexican Restaurant pop up only minutes from my house and next to my weekly visited Safeway. We decided to gather the family ( about 11 of us ) to try this place out. We grew up with an amazing family run Mexican Restaurant back home and have been looking for something similar in the years we've been here / with no avail. Seeing they already had an established location in Portland was a plus. They are brand new to this spot - so there was a bit of a lag on getting things going - orders, drinks, receiving items. all of which is totally understandable for a new restaurant while they find their footing! We started off with drinks: * Bloody Mary * Cadillac Margaritas ( large ) * House Margarita Chips and salsa were good - especially loved the side of beans to dip! Everyone enjoyed their drinks. Mother in law noted the house margarita didn't have a lot of flavor but all got the job done. The large is a bit pricey at $20 but same goes for this item at other establishments. For food we ordered (and all tried some of each other's): * the chicken chimichanga with rice // it was definitely a different take on a chimichanga. It was good, meat was tender and had flavor. What I'd change: deep frying it much longer so it's more crispy. Melting the cheese on top! * the shrimp wrapped in bacon // SO GOOD! STAR DISH * shrimp ceviche // very good! Fresh and flavorful! Other dishes: * pasole - didn't try but was told was good * chicken mole - didn't try as well but was told was good My 6 year old was dying over the kids chicken enchilada! He said it's his new favorite dish. Desserts: * churros - tasted fresh! * flan - not my personal type of flan that I enjoy. I like mine more custardy All in all I'm ecstatic to have found a local Mexican spot close to home!! Staff was nice, had a fun decor as well! read more

It's hard to find California-worthy salsa in the PNW, but Casa Colima's fits the bill for me. Crunchy, salty, not too thin or too thick tortilla chips and flavorful well-balanced restaurant salsa. First off, we have really liked this place in the past few months we've come in, in fact maybe the best sit-down Mexican meal in Clark County. Obviously, the restaurant has figured out how much everyone likes them, because last night we went in, ordered 2 dinners and one of us had a margarita. The bill was nearly $70 before the tip. This was our meal for this price: * Carne Asada dinner * Fish Taco dinner * 1 Cadillac Margarita We enjoyed the food but were surprised at how expensive it was.
