Nostalgic ice cream shop that stood the test of time. You don't see too many of these franchises around anymore, but it's sure nice to see Fudgie The Whale still exist. Jessica, from Carvel in Woodside-Queens, was very attentive and accommodating with my request. She took my exact order and confirmed everything. I changed my mind on the writing/message on the cake the day it was supposed to be picked up, and they had already prepared it the way I had originally requested, but Jessica was very accommodating and helpful and offered to work with her cake decorator to remove the writing, redo the frosting on top of the cake and write the new message I wanted. Overall great customer service and the ice cream cake (mango flavor) came up very nice (with a couple of balloon decoration for a birthday) and my family liked it and enjoyed it very much. read more

If you're looking for your Carvel fix in Queens, here's where you need to go. Getting here was a little confusing but once I figured it out, I was happy to get here. It's small but they do have Fudgie the Whale cake (something I wasn't aware of until the day of my birthday when I'd already bought another cake), sell toys in addition to ice cream and did have marshmallow topping for my order (to be eaten later since I came from dinner and dessert elsewhere). The ice cream itself was yummy and kept well in my freezer though I smelled something ick when I walked in that kept haunting me after I left. I never did figure out what was causing it. Nonetheless it's my closest Carvel and they've got Fudgie the Whale so I'll be back at some point. read more

Best place to for an after dinner treat . They're always stocked up on all the flavors so there is never a disappointment. They also have seasonal soft serve and that can be exciting . My favorite so far is the rocky road , cake mix and chocolate soft serve with sprinkles . Ice cream is always fresh and at right temperature and (not mushy and tasting like freezer ) like I had in places before . At carvel I always leave satisfied. They are very clean and they also have a bathroom for customers which also is always clean . Had been a long time customer of this location but recently had a horrible experience. I came here with my family and purchase several ice creams and milk shake. the server did not prepare my order correctly, so I kindly asked to fix it for me, and still it was not corrected. Other server was asked to help with the order witch was a medium shake. He later came back with a small cup. I asked why a small cup, I gave a medium cup? and his answer was "Don't worry about it I'm giving it to you for free" I said, "How is it free, I paid full price for it, you are not giving me a refund, how is it free? At this time a moment of joy with the family became a moment to be upset about it. The server had a mean attitude and turn around like we the customers were troublemakers and walked to the Ice cream machine to supposedly make a new one. Sooooo...I wasn't too impressed with any Carvel locations in my area, so I ventured on my trusty Yelp app to guide me to the winning location, and you all did not fail me! I placed my order online, and I emailed the photo as instructed. I had seen the many cake photos of happy customers who had customized their cakes, and I was just hoping to be next. I received an email confirming that hey received both my order and my photo, and I prayed to the ice cream cake Gods that my paw patrol cake for my now 4 year old will look atleast half as lovely as I was imagining. Fast forward to Sunday, my day of pick up, I arrived over an hour earlier than I had indicated I would be in for it, but I figured it was probably done the night before so I wasn't too worried. I don't normally go this far into Queens, but I was impressed at how lively this area was, and I found the shop pretty quickly. This location was spacious, clean, and they seem to do it all here! When I got there, the employee was helping one customer whom was apparently getting balloons blown up, and I noticed she also had a cake packed up. Nice touch! I was able to get a personalized birthday cake delivered for my husband's in less than an hour, including candles! It was perfect. It was his first Carvel experience ever, and the first time I've had Carvel in years, and it did not disappoint. It was as delicious as I remember it being. I've ordered ice cream cakes for all 3 of my kids birthdays year after year from this location bc they do the edible photos on cakes . I usually do a baby pic and a current pic on the top of the cakes and they've done a great job year after year. They make sure I approve the design before printing by sending mock ups via email, they're very communicative. Super friendly and accommodating for all the customization requests I make back and forth, always having patience (I've very particular). There is a location closer to my house where you can also order the same type of cake but they have it delivered from another location. I choose to drive further out to this location because Jessica and her team are extremely lovely! read more

My friend is in love with J Balvin so naturally I had to put him on her birthday cake. I never bought an edible image cake / picture cake before so I had no idea where to go! Carvel was AMAZING. I got this cake very last minute so I could not even order it online anymore. I called as soon as they opened and was told to send an email with my image. We called to order a fudgy the whale cake for our son's 2nd birthday but Jennifer the store manager who is just amazing to work with encouraged us to have more fun with it. His favorite thing in the world is the ice cream truck and Jennifer told us how you can put an image on top of the cake for $12 so we found a picture we liked and the result was better than we could have ever hoped. We were able to pay with Zelle and the cake was ready for pickup right on time even on Labor Day weekend. They did a great job putting his name on the side and adding little rainbow sprinkles. It made his little party feel super special and it also tasted SO GOOD with all the chocolate crunches inside. Probably the most run down looking Carvel I've seen in my life. From the outside street view you wouldn't have even known it existed, given the obnoxiously outdated and faded logo on the store. Stopped by for their annual free junior cone day 3-8pm. Was it worth standing in line behind a bunch of immature middle schoolers and questioning if this was our future for free soft serve? I'm not so sure. If you live in the proximity of Woodside, you already know there are TONS of bakery options around to get cakes for any occasion. I've rarely seen ice cream cakes around, but this would be your go to place for them. read more

We are very lucky to have the best ice cream place in our neighborhood. This place always delivers an excellent customers service, the staff are friendly, efficient and accommodating. I always get Bday ice cream cakes with edible image/picture from Carvel Woodside. The prices are reasonable and the wide variety of flavored ice creams, soft serve sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, dashers, carvalanche, and our all time favorite the banana barge are scrumptiously authentic.It is very rare to find a Carvel store that truly bring families together and brings back childhood memories. In short, do not take the flan cheesecake to go as it does not travel well at all, even if it's for a short distance. Simply enjoy it inside the cafe instead :).

The selection they offer is quite impressive, and I noticed that many of the cakes are crafted right there on the premises. The same employee who had just told me they weren't open was now helping her, boxing up pastries and sending her on her way. I went inside and asked if I could place an order as well, but I didn't get a clear response. At that point, I was so upset that I just grabbed a 2lb pre-wrapped plate of cookies and left. I completely understand having holiday hours and I was happy to come back at 0800. But being turned away, only to see someone else immediately helped moments later, felt unfair and disrespectful. It's also hard to ignore the possibility that bias may have played a role. As a queer-presenting person, being turned away while a more traditionally feminine-presenting customer was immediately welcomed and helped did not sit right with me. I truly hope that wasn't the case, but the experience left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
