Twice I visited the Carvel at Bay Shore and twice I had a problem because of buy one get one free Wednesday. I asked for a buy one get one sundae and i was told it didn't apply to sundaes. The next time I ordered a small cone with a small cup. I was told I couldn't get a cone and get anything free. I walked out and went a few miles on Bay Shore Rd and got 2 Sundaes for one price. Love this Carvel you get what you pay for and a little bit more. I've never just gone in for one ice cream. They have lots of choices with lots of flavors and lots of combinations of sprinkles. My go to is the bonnets and he is so good with his pricing that you buy some you get some for free so you feel like it's really getting a good value. The store is kind of large, which is great because they have lots of stuff on display for you to choose from rather than waiting for them to search for it in the back. My go-to icecream spot when I visit my friend in West Islip. The employees were welcoming and patient when my friend and I were deciding between flavors. Always a scam being run at this place. Every time I go there I'm offered something for "free" that ends up costing twice as much as if I bought the one item I wanted. It's become a running joke. Today I went in for Weds buy one get one sundae specials. I'm buying for 2 children. Asked for 2 small sundaes. The owner grabs large cups. I remind him I only wanted smalls and he replies buy one get ones are only good on large sundaes (which are 3 dollars more, essentially the price difference of one small Sundae) 1- That policy isn't stated anywhere. 2- My 11 year old isn't eating a large sundae. 3- The poster in the window for BOGO shows the small sundae. I went to this Carvel last weekend with my family and we had a really great experience. They have a wide selection of flavors and are extremely nice and accommodating. My younger cousin was very indecisive about what flavor to get, and the staff provided helpful recommendations and did not get annoyed that she took her time to make a selection. The service here is spectacular. This is probably my favorite Carvel in the tri-state area. The service is fast and the store is immaculately clean. The ice cream is always fresh and delicious, and they always have my favorite flavor of flying saucers, the oreo ones :) I always love a carvel swirl, and really, does anything beat that on a warm summer night? Carvel is always one of my top choices for ice cream but the great staff at this location really is the cherry on top! Flying saucers (ice cream sandwiches) are my usual go-to pickups to keep the fridge stocked all summer long but I always end up leaving with an Oreo shake in hand. Not sure about the other reviews about the sizing, the guy behind the counter always asks and usually shows me the cup sizes while I contemplate. I would give this place negative 100 stars if i could. 2 months ago i ordered shakes for me and a colleague and we got food poisoning from the turned milk they use. We spoke to them and they tried to offer us gift cards in replacement for getting us sick. I spoke to Paul the owner and so tonight i decided to give them a second chance and this is what they delivered to me, see attached pic and inside one of the shakes is a plastic wrapper, as seen in another pic. Oh guess what they offered me a refund and more shakes again, like i want to be poisoned or to choke to death again. The never apologize, just try to fix by offering more like that is going to fix the fact that they poisoned you or they gave you foreign objects in your drinks. They have fake reviews most likely written by friends and family members. The first time the milk was sour we got food poison, the second time they send me this and put a plastic wrapper in it. Please be very careful when buying here, specially if you have kids. I am informing the board of health, the better business bureau and i am taking them to court, they have tried to kill me 2 times now. read more

After a hot day at Robert Moses, I would come here with my friends to enjoy a scoop or two. So happy this place is in my hometown! They owner is always greeting customers, even knows some on first name basis. I came here after my brothers middle school chorus concert earlier in the year. The place was packed with kids and parents because it's right down the block from the school. The staff was cheerful and kept the line moving quickly. Came back the other night to pick up a birthday cake for my younger brother. They helped pick it out and wrote his name on the front with a shamrock since saint Patrick's day is around the corner. I've always been a Cold Stone fan until I came to this specific Carvel location. The ice cream here is so unbelievable! The Oreo cookies and cream flavor is my all time favorite. This is a fantastic Carvel. It is very clean and they have a wide selection of ice cream flavors. For example today they had soft serve strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, nuttela, Black raspberry ,Reeses's and mint. They also have a very large selection of Hypaque ice cream. They use their soft serve as a base so they have that ubiquitous softserve bottom note but they're filled with a lot of good tasting things.I would recommend stopping by this particular Carvel.
