5+++ stars for Old Fashioned Ice Cream. The ice cream is so delicious and they have many flavors to pick from, some seasonal so if ya snooze ya lose! I'm partial to the chocolate flavors but I've tried vanilla based here as well and they are all very good. They also have soft serve and rotate flavors. They also have dairy free which has a coconut milk base and I think I saw sugar free. Besides the ice cream, the people who own the store are the nicest people on earth! They rotate their options, but they usually carry vegan vanilla soft serve and a second option like strawberry or pistachio. These are so creamy and delicious. Alright, not the quaintest location to pack the kids up & go for ice cream BUT.....it certainly is Old Fashioned & good! We stop here for their sundae cups to bring to parties & their ice cream pies for ourselves! Quality is top notch & quantity is fair. Staff is typically young but respectful & efficient. They offered cool merchandise for sale on my past visits. Conveniently located a block south of the Southern State Parkway. Parking lot is large and surrounds business. Best ice cream ever would highly recommend you should definitely check it out. Even if you don't live close, the drive is worth it.

We got an ice cream cake for a party. The pre-made ones are chocolate on bottom and vanilla on top with cookie crumbles in between. If you want different flavors you need to order in advance. They also have hard ice cream to scoop. And soft serve, about 4 flavors everyday. When we were there only one machine was ready. They're know for their Pineapple whip soft serve. This is one of the best ice cream parlors on Long Island, that sells soft and old fashion ice-cream and there are so many flavors to choose from. I got a custom flavor birthday cake recently, and it was so good my daughter wanted one for her birthday too. In order to give them the 48 hrs. advance notice they need, I called Thursday at 5:00 for a cake I needed Saturday. The person on the phone said, "If you want it Saturday, you can't pick it up until after 5:00. I said, "Could I please just get it 2 hours earlier, at 3:00? "No. You would have had to call at 3." No explanation, like, "that's a busy day," or whatever. Just,"Our policy is 48 hours, you called 2 hours too late. 2 hours? Would it really have made that much of a difference to their routine if I had called at 3? I always try to patronize small businesses in my community, and this just makes me wonder why I bother. Sweet group of gals working and the two flavors I tried were both divine. The hand scooped coffee was delicious, I had it in a cup with chocolate sprinkles. I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and I finally did! It's local and I was looking forward to it, especially after reading all of the reviews. What a disappointment! I bought a pint with 4 different flavours. I didn't like any of them, they didn't even get simple chocolate right. All four flavours tasted like ice milk and not at all like ice cream. Tasteless, at best. I honestly don't understand the high ratings and newspaper recommendations for this place. I really wanted this to become my new go to place for ice cream. It isn't cheap either but I have no problem paying for a quality product. I actually threw 2/3 of the pint in the garbage, that's how bad I found it. I will now return to Cafe Italia on Deer Park Ave. Their gelato is the real deal. It's exactly like the super high quality gelato you get in Italy. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. I love that little place! I've learned my lesson - when you find something that you really like, stick with it. It's not really that far and it means that I don't have to go to Little Italy or Europe to get authentic gelato. (Not that I wouldn't like to go back to Italy, I would actually love to go back - the sooner the better too! I'm so ready to head back to NYC too!) read more

I ALWAYS make a point to stop here no matter what time of the year it is when I come to Long Island to visit family. My usual is either a soft vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles, but I like to mix it up sometimes and get strawberry. Their ice cream is BY FAR the best. The ice cream is made fresh and the strawberry that I had was the creamiest and most flavorful then any other ice cream stores and the toppings of fruit are fresh fruits. I usually feel very "stanky" against this establishment because they can be cheap and overpriced (this is the closest to me to hit that icecream spot.....), but today they screwed up on my banana split and made it right no problems. Now when it comes to ice cream, I typically order whatever coffee flavor they have, but on this particular day I was feeling adventurous so I went with chocolate chip and strawberry. Alex D. got coffee and Nutella. I was instantly jealous when I had a bite of his. Don't get me wrong, my choice selections were delicious, but the coffee flavor was so rich and distinct that I wanted to switch right away. Definitely recommend the coffee flavor!!
