I've seen a lot about this place and wanted to give them a try. They are not your conventional bakery but have many different and interesting items sure to please almost anyone. There is street parking and multiple municipal lots within walking distance. The shop is long with many cases and displays of baked goods. Everything is labeled clearly and the packaging they use to wrap your purchases is very visually pleasing. Better looking wrapping if you are looking to bring something to someone's house. They have gluten free options and quite a few items you don't typically see other places. The employees working were friendly and knowledgeable. They were also extremely patient with the more indecisive customers. Overall I would recommend this bake shop for a fun change to your typical bakery. read more

I recently purchased cupcakes for a co-workers birthday here. It was my first visit. I ordered early so I could get an assortment of flavors. The cupcakes were so fresh, fluffy and tasty. The girl at the counter was also super helpful and knew exactly what they were selling and helped me choose what would work for me. Now that I have experienced this place I will return. The hours they are open should work for anyone. The cupcakes were a big hit and they were so good I considered it a very fair value. From the minute I walked and seen the presentation up front and got a glimpse of the operation in the back I knew I was in an experienced bakery. We stopped in here before dinner at Tellers cuz all we do is think about food...and eating.... We got two gorgeous chocolate chunk cookies, a mini Oreo cake and a "pop tart." The toaster pastry was flaky pastry, stuffed with jam and iced. It was LOVELY. The cookies were chock full of chocolate chunks and were a generous size. The mini oreo cake was good. Not great, but solid. I took off a star because it's one thing to sell candles in a bakery (odd, but okay). It's a whole nother bold choice to actually have one lit on the food display case. I love their cakes: the rainbow cake is by far my favorite (if you are a rainbow cookie lover, this cake is for you) as it is moist, almondy, not overly sweet, and a perfect balance of chocolate ganache and jam. Also can't get enough of their fruit tart--also not overly sweet but fluffy cake on top of a pie crust which jam, chocolate, cream, and so much fruit. Very happy with my visit here! Stopped by and picked up a box of mixed pastries and a cake. Everything came to around $60. Rainbow cookie cupcake was extremely moist and delicious. Rainbow cookie crumb cake muffin was more dense but still delicious. Black and white cookies are soft and the icing was also great. The cheese puff was giant and so flakey. The cake we got had chocolate and vanilla cake, chocolate pudding and Oreo buttercream. Cutting into the cake you could feel how tender the crumb was, cutting into it was a breeze. I've had this bakery three times and each time everything is good. The staff is very friendly, very clean, lots of options and cute shelving with dog items , candles , aprons for gifting. I ordered a cake and cookies for my birthday. The cake was beautiful and has macaroons on top. Cookies were not exactly we ordered but they were really pretty and good. I also just picked up an order for my friend for a christening. They showed me the cakes before I took them and everyone enjoyed them. The sweet young lady behind the counter answered my questions and I decided on a rainbow cookie bar (large rainbow cookie with a dark chocolate ganache coating over the entire cookie topped w a little bit of sprinkles) and rainbow cookie cupcake (rainbow cookie cake, with the jelly filled in the middle, a little chocolate cream on top, followed by a dark chocolate ganache top and a sliver of rainbow cookie). I came to the bakery on Easter Sunday early in the morning after going by a local bakery and seeing a huge line. I remembered someone recommending this bakery so I drove up the road and decided to stop by and give them a try. My first impression of the well decorated simple and the cakes and desserts really stood out. They even had a section for dog treats that were made for the pups. The customer service was exceptional. The young lady who helped me with my pretty large order considering I was going to two Easter festivities and was in charge of dessert was beyond helpful very patient and very welcoming. When I arrived, of course I took time looking at the cakes and desserts that they had to offer and I was unable to make a choice. I finally did make a choice and decided on the bunny cake, which is white or vanilla cake with chocolate and buttercream, and I also got a rainbow cookie cake, which was phenomenal not dry, it was delicious I also got the assortment of Italian pastry, platters with cannoli Napoleons and tarts, and those were delicious as well. I got a small box of cookies which were good as well as a box of assorted donuts, and linzor tart. I wish I would've taken pictures of everything that I purchased, but unfortunately I didn't. I must say everything that I tried. I had a small sampling at the different events. I went to that day and I must say I was not disappointed at all by anything that I purchased, the lobster tail was delicious. It was right amount of crunch. It was not soggy and the inside was just perfectly sweetened. I would recommend recommend and have been recommending this bakery to everyone I come across. I must say it's way better than it competitor which is down the road, but it's also a little slightly more expensive but like I've told everyone I rather pay a little more for gracious service a pleasant experience and a great product. I need to write an update now that we've used Manhattan Sweets for all our wedding-related baked goods. Manhattan Sweets recently made our wedding cake, and it was amazing. We chose red velvet with cream cheese filling, and it was so moist and delicious. We asked for a unique decoration of the city skyline on our cake, and it came out beautiful. We got so many compliments on our cake. My husband said it even tasted good smashed onto his face! They also made our groom's cake which was an homage to my husband's favorite tam, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The cake was beautiful - and delicious - chocolate with cannoli cream. It was a surprise for my husband, and he really got a kick out of it! And, last but not least, we had our favorite rainbow cookie cupcakes boxed up individually as a wedding favor. They were amazing, and a real hit with our guests. I think desserts make an excellent favor, to either eat late at night after the after-party or the next morning as you get yourself out of bed. These cupcakes are truly unique and scrumptious and, at breakfast the next morning, all our guests who had stayed in the hotel asked "Do you have anymore of those cupcakes?" We're already looking forward to our first anniversary and digging back into that red velvet cake! read more

I love having Manhattan Sweets in my neighborhood! The smell of the baked goods in the morning is a special treat when I'm walking my dog. Here's what Manhattan Sweets does very very well: all of the bread, the fruit tarts, the lobster tails and the croissants. The lobster tails are so crispy and the filling is divine. Oh, and the Linzer tarts are really really good. I'm not sure about the cakes. They look very pretty but I've never had a cake from Manhattan Sweets. I had to go to a last minute birthday party and it was very difficult finding modern cakes. I looked up bakeries via the internet and found this gem. They have a lot of nice, customesque, cakes on hand. I choose a cake decorated with roses with an array of colors. The young woman who helped me was polite and gave me great suggestions for the occasion. It was a Neapolitan flavored cake and it was sooo moist and delicious. It wasn't too sweet and it balanced with the icing. I will definitely be returning there because they not only have cakes on hand but do custom cakes.
