I can see why this place has $HITTY reviews! I'd give zero stars if i could. I wanted to stop in and grab a scoop of ice cream to go but i had my little puppy with me since i was taking her for a walk. I looked around for a "no pets allowed" sign but didnt see one, so out of respect i picked her up and carried her in my arms as i went in to order. As soon as i got to the front a nasty male worker, regular build, middle eastern, told me the store doesn't allow pets. Nowhere on the website nor storefront does it say that. I would've been a quick 3 min transaction but he was being so unbelievably annoying and harassed me and my girlfriend, to the point he literally came and chased us out the store. NEVER COMING BACK to this piece of crap store. read more

We came here to pick up a cake for a birthday party. The staff was friendly and the prices were affordable. The cashier was quick and efficient. Keep the cake boxes as they have coupons that never expire! They are perfect for your next purchase. read more

Carvel - a birthday cake with two candles - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Always good, especially the soft serve! Really creamy and smooth. Been here at least once every year and the staff is consistently hardworking and kind. Family has bought cakes before too and they've been great. Top picks: the soft serve in a cone, "flying saucer ice cream sandwiches", dasher sundae, the cake with crunchies The regular hard ice creams are great too, different flavors available, but personal favorite are the soft serves (especially when limited edition flavors come around throughout the year) read more

It's alright. This carrels pretty good Pros - Good hours, good ice cream, clean Cons - Some of the workers are morons. I once asked one of the workers to loosen the malt up since he made it too thick and refused. Chinese kid that works there is alright but the other ones suck Just the other day I ordered a malt and they forgot the .... malt Won't go too far negative since I've only had two bad experiences here around the 50 times I've been here 3/5 read more

ZERO stars for this Carvel! I went in and placed an order for a Reese's sundae dasher with hard ice cream instead soft which you can go through all my Yelp pictures I order it everywhere with no problem! This overweight man of Asian decent whom I'm guessing is the owner told me No! I told him I order it at every Carvel I go to, and I even said I had no problem paying more money for it for it to come with hard ice cream instead of soft! He said we won't make you a Reese's dasher with hard ice cream even if you pay more. So, basically all I'm asking for in case anyone who doesn't know about Sundae dashers is hard ice cream with Reese's cups and peanut butter and hot fudge. What's the big deal! Never in my entire life did I ever encounter a man so rude to a paying customer! It's absolutely ridiculous I can't order hard ice cream with two layers of Reese's, peanut butter and hot fudge! I then went 3 miles to the Carvel on Merrick Avenue, and I had no problem ordering what I wanted! You can even check out my Yelp picture of my order there! Skip this Carvel and go the one on Merrick Avenue where they know how to treat customers! read more

Delicious ice cream. Staff could be a little bit more friendly, but maybe it's because I always head there a few minutes before closing. Anywho, the best ice cream! read more

They have good ice cream and great frozen yogurt. And after reading some of the reviews here, I want to say that the people who works in this location were very friendly to me and to my niece. They let us taste 4 different flavors before we decided which one to go with. It is a nice place with nice people. Maybe not the best ice cream in the world (which I think can only be found in Argentina), but definitely worth a visit. read more

Not sure why so many bad reviews, but they get a solid 4 stars in my book! It's better than your typical Carvel, but at the same time they're a chain, people..... what do you expect? Mostly young inexperienced workers probably high-school or college-age kids. But most fast-food/chain places pay minimum wage so it's highly presumptuous to expect white glove treatment. And I actually like this Carvel better than most others. They honor the discounts they offer like certain days have BOGO on the sundaes and milkshakes. We went recently and my milkshake cup was almost full but the kid behind the counter went through the hassle of going back to add more ice cream and milk just to make sure it was full to the brim. read more

I would rate this store a ZERO, but I don't have that option. I came to the store to purchase an ice cream cake for my daughter who has peanut allergies. I was assured that the ice cream cake I purchased was peanut-free, and it was produced in a nut-free facility. After leaving the store, I further inspected the ingredients on the label, I noticed that it clearly stated the ice cream cake was made on equipment that also produced peanut products. When I returned to the store and explained to the store manager that the information he gave me was erroneous, and requested a refund, he proceeded to rudely reprimand me (obnoxious screaming). After several verbal exchanges, he reluctantly decided to give me a refund. While processing the refund, he incorrectly issued another customer a refund instead of me. He then went on a verbal tirade stating that he lost money -- it was HIS error. He finished the process, threw the receipt at me, and told me to "get the hell out of my store!!!". PLEASE DO NOT SHOP AT THIS CARVEL LOCATION, TO DO SO IS VALIDATING SUCH RUDE AND INDECENT BEHAVIOR. read more

Absolutely terrible service. I placed an order through yelp/grub hub. Upon arrival to the pick up window, they had no record of my order. They didn't even bother to ask what I ordered. I was basically dismissed and told to contact yelp. What kind of customer service is that?!?!? Terrible, terrible, terrible. read more

I have no complaints when it comes to their ice-cream; it's pretty good. However, their owner or manager is a real douchebag. It's not good business to be rude to your customer. They also advertise "Everything Buy one get one Free" on Wednesdays. The sign fails to mention that cake are not included in this promotion. I understand that it would be bad business to include cakes in this promotion, but don't advertise that EVERYTHING is buy one get one free when it's not true or at least put a disclaimer that cakes are not included. read more

Customer Service is the worst I've ever seen! We come here a few times a month and have been for many years. Tonight I ordered a swirl milkshake and it had an odd taste. I went back in and told them that I did not like the way it tasted and that maybe something was wrong with it. (Something I almost never do) The manager immediately says nothing wrong with the milkshake, the ice cream or the milk. He then takes out the milk tastes it and it says nothing wrong with it. Shrugs me off and does not offer to make me a new one, offer me something else or even my money back. We live in the neighborhood and have many friends that go to that location. They have lost our family as customers as well as my friends and family in the neighborhood. I guess the customer is never right at this location. I would avoid this location as luckily there are many other carvel locations in close proximity. read more

yummy yum yum. i'm so fortunate this place is directly across the street from my beau's place... literally a 40 second walk there. wednesday are the best with their buy one get one free deal. i always get a chocolate covered strawberry sundae with vanilla soft serve. how heavenly. their service is always great- however i took off a star for their stinkiness. like it smells of rotten feces and garbage. how unsettling when you've JUST purchased a yummy ice cream treat. ick. read more

Very nice staff. However the ice cream cups that I bought from the freezer for 9.99 were stale. The ice cream actually tasted old. Not happy. I'll go to stop and shop next time. Fresher ice cream for less than half the price. read more

Carvel's hand dipped flavors that I tried are perfectly balanced. The butter pecan avoids the overly sweetened butter flavor of most butter pecan ice creams, and the banana flavor delivers the right accent of small, soft banana bites in the mix. I did not try the soft serve but all of the soft serve sundaes are buy one, get one free on Wednesdays! read more

Very nasty people working in this location... the carvelanch we bought is half empty... they said they don't know how to make a dasher.... and they screwed up the order twice. I will never come back to this location and I don't recommend anyone coming here especially with all the other choices in the area including other carvel locations read more

If your open until 10pm and you shut down the soft serve machine for the limited edition mint ice cream and it's the advertised specials kind of defeats the purpose no? Employees didn't seem to care except that the one pointed the finger at the other for shutting it down early. No problem went down the block to Baskin Robbins. read more

There is a young man that made the best milkshake I've ever consumed. It made my anus quiver from the magical taste of this refreshing g beverage, and not to mention my knees with them bc he was just so amazing at his work. So fast, so swift, in the business of this ice cream. His name seemed to be Julian , and he definitely deserves a raise ! jabless read more

Rude! Rude is really an understatement here. This manager has no people skills, its no wonder he's never taking the orders, or speaking with customers. My boyfriend ordered a milkshake, we brought it to the car and realized something was off. It tasted funny, it tasted sour and just overall not good. I convinced my bf to go back inside and just let them know that something isn't right, hoping they would make it right. We've been customers here for years, we live nearby and never had a bad experience with their quality before. So when we brought it up, the manager straight denied anything was wrong, we suggested maybe the milk was rotten. So he took it out and tasted it himself.. he went through all that work just to prove nothing is wrong, and yet... our milkshake tasted wrong! It was a simple shake, a twist milkshake, nothing else in it. Very plain. How could one mess it up? You can't, unless the ingredients are rotten. In the end, i thought the manager was rude with no respect for his customers for not trying to make things right. read more

I want to start off by saying that every other Carvel 've gone to in Staten Island has been pleasant. However, every single time I go to this specific location there's always an issue. The staff here are completely horrible, they're hostile and despite being an ice-cream place, where it's supposed to be child-friendly. The management was absolutely disgraceful, seriously, if you're ever in Staten Island and your craving ice-cream, stay away from this place. It's not worth your time nor money. read more

I think this is the best carvel on the island. Not the cleanest or prettiest, but they certainly have the best quality and give you the most in quantity. I've been to others where they only fill up half the cup or the ice cream melts in your hand. Not this one. I would come here regularly had I lived closer to it. read more

Children love ice cream and Carvel serves a good ice cream but this store has some employees with the personality of a cardboard, and their attitude could be paired with truck repair shops. Tonight my two children and I took a bike ride to this Carvel store, as we do every week. My kids always get the same thing; mint chocolate chip for my son and my daughter vanilla soft ice cream with sprinkles (I don't get any ice cream :) ). After realizing that I dint have enough cash with me (only $3.75) I asked if they accepted credit cards and I was told the minimum was 10 dollars. So I told the guy if that was enough and he said no, you can get only one cup. So while my children were fighting because they didn't want different flavors ice cream, he stood there looking at them crying and being mad that they couldn't each get their own ice cream. Now I understand that this is a business they have to sell stuff .... Nevertheless, he could have said; hey, it is ok; they both can have their ice cream and you can bring the rest of the money tomorrow. However, he stood cold as tree and looked at them as they walked away upset with only one cup. It would have taken a little common sense to turn this review into a stellar customer response; instead, they get a disappointed customer that they lost. read more

This place deserves a zero star but it doesn't have that option. Just got back from this place tonight. It very dirty inside and there is leaks all over the place. They have teenage boys working there. We're everything to them is a joke. Customer service there sucks. I rather go to cvs and get ice cream from the fridge. read more

The ice cream at this carvel is fine however, they like to cheat you on the cones. Every time I get a soft serve cone they balance the ice cream on top so there in none in the cone. When you eat all the ice cream on top and do get to the cone you end up eating an empty cone! Frustrating. read more

Very dirty place!!! The manager and staff is very rude! This place is very expensive and the portions are not what you would expect for a size Large. VERY CHEAP in portions, yet VERY EXPENSIVE for the item! I purchased a Large ice cream and they gave me two small scoops inside. Bought a Large soft ice cream and they put half ice cream inside the cup. I asked for more and the manager said no its enough ice cream! I bought strawberry ice cream and found plastic inside my mouth while chewing. I cut the side of my mouth with the sharp edges of the plastic and almost cracked my tooth. Thank god I noticed it in time. I went into this location to discuss with manager and he said nothing he can do, things happen, when they were making the ice cream, the plastic must of fell in. Like it was no big deal. CARELESS MANAGER AND STAFF, VERY RUDE MANAGER AND STAFF, VERY EXPENSIVE, SMALL PORTIONS, DIRTY FLOORS, DIRTY PLACE, STAFF NEVER CLEAN HANDS, STAFF DOES NOT WEAR ANY GLOVES AND THEIR HAIR IS NOT TIES BACK LIKE IT SHOULD. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! THIS PLACE NEED A BIG CLEAN UP ALL OVER! read more
