From beginning to end, the experience we had at Caruso's was top notch! Jackie helped me make reservations over the phone and was the most pleasant ever as she made sure all my needs were addressed during that 1 phone call and even made sure she took down notes of what I was celebrating (my 2 gfs birthdays). The restaurant also followed up with a couple emails and texts, which I appreciated. Upon arriving, the hostess was friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was just gorgeous and the waves crashing in the background was so relaxing. They provided a lot of heat lamps and even a blanket made of Turkish cotton! Chomari was our server and he was incredible and made our dining experience unforgettable. Everyone seemed to have gone to our table to assist whichever way they could. Food was also delicious and most of all, they practice sustainability, which I love! Will definitely be back here next time with my fiancé! :) read more

Truly an exceptional dining experience. One of the best / most memorable meals and dining experiences we've ever had. We arrived well before our reservation (we were hungry!!) and they were able to seat us immediately, which was greatly appreciated. The location and view is truly spectacular and the service is top notch. We felt cared for and attended to every moment. My husband, the carnivore, ADORED every course, especially his wagyu beef. I am enormously grateful that chef Massimo thought to offer a vegan prix fixe menu as well. As a vegan, I'm used to having either no option or one (not great) menu item to choose from. Avocado toast again? Great. Pasta Primavera, ok, I guess it's better than starving... I had so much trouble picking from so many amazing options! Our server (whose name escapes me right now, but at least I remembered to tip A LOT), gave me great advice / guidance and I genuinely LOVED every single course. The plant based Cacio e Pepe was so flavorful and unexpectedly rich. The Beluga Lentil Cassoulet had such a depth to it and the broccoli Crema was delicious!! We were so stuffed that we could barely finish half of our desserts - which were excellent. I could truly not be more pleased with our experience and the quality of the food and ambiance. We went to Caruso's for our wedding anniversary (initially we're looking to go to the Biltmore where we got married but they were closed due to covid). ALL of the staff at Caruso's were amazing, especially our waiter! He was very genuine and attentive. Also, they took social distancing and face covering seriously, so we felt safe eating out here. Really AMAZING restaurant. Across the board from arriving to departure, this restaurant delivers a fantastic experience. Firstly, the place itself is right by the beach and you can hear the waves coming in. So, the ambiance is set. ( They have heaters to keep you warm ) Secondly, the food is delicious. The wine pairing is fantastic. Thirdly, the service is on point. They are attentive and knowledgeable. The food was very late. We waited over 45 min for our order. The $220 lobster is an absolute no! There was barely any meat in there although it's supposed to be 3 lbs. It was also so buttery!! The margarita pizza was salty but also very bland with the red sauce tasting as if you bought it in a can. The steak was probably the only decent thing on the menu. Expensive place for nothing. I took my girl to Caruso's for her birthday and we had an amazing experience. Caruso's sits right on the beach so the view is breathtakingly beautiful. The frontage of the restaurant was completely open, and as the sun set and the dim lights came on the ambiance was so romantic. The entirety of Caruso's service was exceptional and our waiter Ethan was spectacular. Friendly, funny, and completely knowledgeable about the menu - we could not have asked for a better waiter for this special occasion. The food was fabulous - what a treat! They have several locations, and the ones I've been to are in sylmar and granada hills. Service at both locations is good, I do like the larger bar area in granada Hills. The food choices are identical and always good. Both locations have a lunch buffet with multiple choices. Good garlic bread, and my favorite is Pizza A La Andro! read more

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and it was amazing! The waiter was great, very helpful and kind (his name was Julian) and he gave some great menu suggestions. The view was spectacular as we ate during sunset. The food was fantastic, we especially enjoyed the octopus as the antipasti, the incredible carbonara pasta dish, the duck as the third course, and the yuzu cheese cake to finish! Caruso's has an inspired menu, full of items that look innocuous at first glance on the page, and yet will linger in your memory for days. They call carbonara deconstructed, but the truth is it deconstructs you. When it comes to a main course, there are truly no wrong answers. The only wrong answer is to dine anywhere else! read more

We dined here last weekend in celebration of my Mom's 73rd Birthday. We arrived early and took advantage of the gorgeous scenery and had drinks and appetizers in the bar in the hotel, and then took sunset photos at Caruso's before being seated. From the start, the service was impeccable. Maurico was our waiter, and he was charming, helpful and attentive. First, we enjoyed the mushroom pizza as our appetizer, followed by the oxtail gnocchi - also to share. Both were outstanding, and Maurico brought us a sample of one of their house wines to pair with these appetizers. So thoughtful! As an entree, I had the chicken and it was one of the best chicken dishes have ever had. My husband had the salmon and Mom enjoyed the bass. We felt that everything was coursed out nicely so that we could enjoy the ambiance and savor each course. We were too full for dessert but the restaurant sent out a delicious mousse cake compliments of them, in celebration of Mom's big day. So nice! So, what is keeping me from giving this a 5-star review? Just one thing - and it pains me to even bother with it, but it was really a nuisance. The Sommelier parked himself at the table next to us for an unacceptably long time, and carried on a very, very loud, one-sided conversation that was terribly distracting to us and to other tables. One of the couples at the table had recently been engaged and it seemed like he was selling them on having their wedding there, and that is understandable, but he should realize that this is fine dining in an intimate setting and speak in a decibel that is appropriate and not overstay his welcome. The above interruption aside, everything was perfect about this experience. We will be back again soon. read more

This was our first time at Caruso's. My husband took me for my birthday and we were very impressed with everyone from the moment we entered the property, we knew we were at a very special place.We arrived about an hour before our reservation and were warmly greeted by the hostesses. They were friendly and a pleasure to talk to. They showed us to the bar where we could wait for our table. At the bar, we were greeted by Ian, who was professional and very kind. He was very knowledgeable and was able to help us order drinks that we very much enjoyed.We were shown to our table at the exact time of our reservation and it was one of the best tables there because it had a front row seat to overlooking the ocean. The entire wait staff were professional, personable and eager to please. We opted for the 4-course pre fixe dinner. And made our selections from each course offerings. They brought an amuse bouche that was creatively plated and equally palette pleasing. We could tell right away that the chef was not only well versed in flavor combinations, but understood the importance of texture as well. We enjoyed the descriptions that the wait staff offered when the dishes were served. I had a tomato salad that incorporated a dollop of luscious buratta and wonderfully crunchy croutons. In addition, there was a cup of tomato water that was to be drunk after finishing the salad., (Honestly, I was so engrossed in it, that I completely forgot what my husband had).The next course was a pasta dish that had little cups of fresh pasta with perfectly cooked fish in a complementary sauce. (The wine might have erased some of the memories of what exactly was in the dish, I just remember swooning)The main course was black cod for me and duck for my husband. By this time I was getting pretty full, but dug in and enjoyed almost every bite of perfectly cooked fish. Dessert for me was "S is for Strawberry," all the desserts had names and themes. My husband had a honey inspired dish that was truly creative and an amazing mouth feel treat. The textures in both desserts elevated them.They brought me a Michelin star shaped dark chocolate filled with raspberry sauce. It was probably one of the top 3 meals over ever eaten. I want to say first off that the services was top notch. Everything that we requested and wanted was granted. With that being said, it is over priced for the food quality. I came down from Seattle and was excited to try this restaurant out because of it Michelin rating. Unfortunately it was not any better, and way more expensive, then any of our restaurants up north which do not have the same rating. 4 of the 7 in our group had the halibut as our main course and it was over cooked for all of us.the grilled octopus was the best I have ever had. We got the caviar butter with the bread and it was awesome. The food overall is good. Just not worth the price. read more

Francisco and his associates waiting on our table were attentive and wonderful. Unfortunately the appetizer flat bread came out cold and looked lovely but when I tasted it. It tasted burned even though it wasnt. hmmm the amuse bouche was melon that tasted of salmon. odd the the pastas were fair not exceptional. the yellowtail sashimi appetzer was amazing. Get it! Tiramisu and berries desserts were lovely. The Food should match its environment. I must say they have a long way to go to match the food to the amazing environment. Best of success to you Caruso's. I started trying to make a reservation for a party of 10 in May of 2021 for a July 2 an important birthday in my family. I called early in May and was told by the restaurant reservations person that the restaurant would call or email me back to confirm the reservation. The lovely young woman I spoke to assured me that it would be no problem but that this was a formality -a matter of process. Over the next few weeks, I called several times and always spoke to the same young lady - again she was helpful and kind, but unable to get anywhere with confirmation. I offered to put a downpayment on the event with my Amex, but was told it was unnecessary. I called a total of four times over the past several weeks. Always to the same end. Finally, I spoke to her again last Friday and was told the restaurant manager would call me back immediately. That did not happen. Today I called the hotel to speak to their manager. After speaking with someone in the office, I was finally given her manager who looked up my reservation. She told me that an email was sent to me this past Friday informing me that my request for reservation was denied. Not only was this extremely frustrating and disappointing, but at this late date, the options for me to have the birthday celebration anywhere in the area are slim at best. I lived in Santa Barbara for six years, many years ago. Clearly it has become the kind of place where you either have to be in the entertainment business or have a name that is recognizable to succeed in securing a nice reservation for an important dinner event. Disappointing, frustrating and tragic. Shame on you Caruso's and Rosewood Miramar Beach. read more

Amazing experience! We were lucky to be able to get a table as we didnt have a reservation and everything from the food to the staff was awesome! The restaurant is gorgeous, with a beach luxury vibe and amazing views, it is really a memorable spot for early dinner with lovely views. We ordered the halibut and pork chop, both were cooked to perfection and tasted as fresh and delicious as could be! The best moment though was when the chef came out and asked us how everything was! What a treat! The young chef was actually Italian and eventhough he mentioned he hasn't been in CA for long he really was able to make us feel right at home! We will definitely be back! read more

Several days prior to our wedding anniversary, I tried to book a table via Caruso's online system. Nothing available within 2 1/2 hours of the desired time. So I called and was promptly and professionally taken care of. First good sign. When we arrived a few minutes early, our table was not ready, but we were offered seats at the bar. The place is drop-dead beautiful! About five minutes later, our table was ready and we were escorted to it. Second good sign. The person who took my phone call reservation introduced himself - the general manager! Every table is a winner - whether it is closest to the beach or farther away. The food was delicious and creative. And to top it off, we were presented with a dessert with "Happy Anniversary" on it. Not the pace for a weekly splurge, but save it for a special evening. One of the best meals I've had, hands down. Prix fixe with lots of great options. We had pasta and steak and fish. The best steak I've ever had! Comfortable booths and great view and lots of attentive staff. The bread and desserts are also amazing and they brought truffles after the meal and a nice amuse bouche to start. Would advise ordering wine rather than cocktails. Our mixed drinks barely had a drink in them and at $24 each, wasn't worth it for middle of the line alcohol and slim pours. read more

4.5 stars Restaurant is at the new Rosewood Miramar resort on the beach. Amazing view restaurant... its almost on the sand. Heaters keep you warm outside. Had the cioppino. It was good but well short of the best I have ever had. Shrimp was a bit mushy and the soup base was a bit too watery and the flavor was a little off. Still worthwhile given the great view. Also had the filet which was tasty but not steakhouse quality. Book early on opentable as I think the best times might be reserved for hotel guests. read more

Beautiful is an understatement, the booths luxurious, the staff attentive but not annoying. The food was good but not "knock your sox off". What put me off right off the bat was the amuse bouche was served directly on the table cloth, no little plate, it just floundered about on the table, looking lost. When I mentioned it, the Maitre'D' said it was a direct decision from Chef. It left me underwhelmed. The entire plating was very unexciting. Definitely expensive, service was good and food was very good. Cioppino was one of the best I have had. Wife had the Black Cod which was equally delicious. We celebrated my husbands 50th at Carusos and we couldn't have chosen a more special meal and environment. The beach setting is unbelievably gorgeous and romantic. The vintage vibe of the waiters uniforms, fabulous looking interiors and gracious service only added to the experience of the delightful meal. The cacio pepe was a dream come true. I feel like I owe a review for Caruso's. We went there for our wedding anniversary. It was fantastic experience. We knew that Chef Massimo was Michelin starred, but we thought that the restaurant deserved Michelin stars. The view was great even with rainy weather, and the food was beautiful and delicious. We had the prix fixe dinner, and each plates was well presented that it felt like we are in a gallery. The waiters and servers were very kind too. They brought out the food in a timely manner, and they were prompt to take our finished plates. We brought our 4 year old and they were very considerate and brought him crayons and apple juice to go with our champagne. When we were deciding which wine to drink, our waiter, Julian, let us taste a couple before making a final decision. He also pointed out the dolphins out in the ocean, which made our night a little more special. We asked one of the staff to take a picture for us using my phone, and after he took the picture he came back with some sanitizing wipes for me to clean my phone. I really appreciated this gesture because it made me feel very safe, especially with the Covid-19 situation. As a person that studied and worked in the service industry, I felt like everything was executed perfectly. It was the best service I have received in the Santa Barbara area by far. Chef Massimo is a true artist and you will see him frequently bringing his creations proudly to the table personally. We had this reservation set for months as we were staying at the Rosewood, and unfortunately unable to dine per the dress code. So, Saturday night I was wearing a collared shirt and here is the dress code pulled directly from the site: "Our guests are required to wear trousers or denim pants and collared shirts, sport coats or blazers, dresses, pantsuits, or elegant skirts and blouses." It doesn't say collared shirt AND sport coat, it says or. Anyway, the staff of the restaurant finally told me they would give me a loaner but only after I asked, because they were suggesting I go buy a very expensive blazer from one of the stores. Why wouldn't they start with the fact that they give loaners? Furthermore, my wife decided she did not want to do the tasting menu, and as this was our 10 year anniversary dinner I want to give her what she wants. They wouldn't allow us to change to the regular menu? At this point, the staff were just being rude and I felt uncomfortable to continue with this reservation, so I was charged $100 per person (2 people) just to cancel. read more
