I came in to return/exchange an item that was missing an attached item and do some intended additional back to school shopping for my 3 children. The manager IVAN refused to accept the return item because his "store would take this as a loss" and "would not be able to resell it" and requested to return to the original purchase location. I still had my original receipt and item in original condition. My tone and demeanor completely calm, I simply stated I do not understand .... Ivan raised his voice, sounded stressed out and flustered repeated again his explanation.... Of course I had another rebuttal. Then advised ok I'm only going to do it this time.... The minute I turn my back, after the transaction was complete, he tells the cashier exactly my rebuttal " make sure you mark that item as defective ". I unfortunately will not be returning to this location because of the service you provided IVAN. I work in customer service as well - communication is key. Had I walked in my work suit and full face of make up maybe I would have received different service is how you made me feel. read more

I like this store because it's both a Carter's and a Oshkosh B'gosh so you can get stuff for little babies or bigger kids. The Carter's side has clothes for premies and up to toddlers. They have lots of different outfits and the prices are pretty good. They always have sales going on. I do advice to add your phone number and email to their list to get coupons and to add points for discounts. You can also buy online and have it delivered to the store so you won't pay for shipping in case they don't have it at the store. The associates are pretty nice and helpful. I was looking for bathing suits for my child and she told me where they were and also helped ringing me up. The store is always clean and well kept. I recently found this location on yelp. I normally drive from Norwalk to the long beach town center for the Carter's there, but now that there is a new location closer to me, this will be my go to store unless I am in the Long beach area. This store is located in the new Downey Promenade plaza. I love how the two times I have gone, there has been no crowd when it comes to parking. Keep it mind, it is a new plaza and once word gets out it is open, it will become a bit more crazy. I love this location because it consists of both stores, Carters and OshKosh B'gosh. It is very rare that you find both stores in one location. Items are well stocked in both stores and are always presented nicely. I did not see any mess the two times I have gone and there always seems to be someone maintaining the organization of the products when I shop here. Cleanliness: 10/10 Customer service: 10/10 ( I had a 20% off coupon I wanted to use but the sales associate said he will scan a 25% off one since I matched the minimum purchase amount; cool) Check out speed: 8/10 (could be faster) If you are in the area and want to find some children clothing, I would definitely check this place out. I came to this carters store this weekend that just past and today I noticed something that I didn't Saturday. Let's get to the positives: it's clean, as the other person mention they have tons of inventory, it's organized even the clearance is neat, everyone was friendly. The ONLY negative: the aisles are really tight. It's nearly impossible to get around the 4ways bc everything is so close / tight together, I Couldn't even stand in the check out line because it was too small and tight there too no way did my stroller fit so if you're going in there to shop for your babies since it issss a baby store I don't think they want you to bring your stroller J/K that's ridiculous lol but you will struggle like I did. BTW Since no customers were there I did mention it to the manager with the most friendly approach. He responded " this is all the room we have it's impossible, we tried" which is total BS he tried to give me that to brush me off.... as if I don't know what I'm talking about. He must be new in the retail business you MUST make room between the aisles for people, strollers and wheelchairs. They need a professional coordinator to come in a move those 4ways and check out rope bc they don't know how or don't understand that they need to accommodate moms, dads and the handicap. read more

Went into this carter location for the first time today. Was shopping around for my 3 month year old nephew and had a hard time deciding between all the cute clothes! Chelsea was sooo helpful and attentive. I saw this hoodie I really liked but didn't come in the size I needed it in, she stopped stocking and went to the back to look for one in the size I needed it in without me even asking! I was so happy when I found out there was a Carter's in Downey, save me the drive to the Carter's in South Gate. The first time I go shopping there I come in contact with their manager Aron Omg she made my shopping experience a horrible one. I go to this location only because it's close to me the young ladies are always pretty nice except the manager I don't know her name, but she's always correcting the other employees in a rude manner in front of customers, is also rude to customers the way she responds as if she's being bothered. Umm if she doesn't like dealing with people go work in a cubicle stay away from customer service/retail. I wish I would of gotten her name but she's the darker skin toned girl with no make up and a pony tail. I just started coming to this location and it's a bit smaller than the one in Long Beach but it's probably because it has the Oshkosh with it.. I love both stores! Carter's always nice clothes and Oshkosh does too. I'm never disappointed with customer service either and if I can't find a size in store I order and ship it to the store. Came here yesterday for their Labor Day sale. For being Labor Day they were not packed at all. Probably about 10 people in the store. It is a smaller store than usual but that is because they have OshKosh right next to it. There seems to be more choices for girls clothes than boys. But that's usually the case everywhere. They have great sales and if you do not like the sale they have on the regular price clothes they do have big clearance sections and most of the time they have an extra discount on them. I've been here a few times and employees are usually really nice. There has been a couple of times where they are rude but don't let detour you from this location. read more
