I'm writing this review because this has been bothering me for several weeks. My grandson has once again outgrown his clothes, and my daughter and I have always chosen this Carter's location because of the employees. They are consistently kind, patient, helpful, and genuinely make shopping there a positive experience. However, the condition of this store is becoming impossible to ignore. Every time we visit, there is a strong unpleasant odor throughout the store. The air feels heavy, humid, and uncomfortable, making it difficult to breathe. What concerns me even more is that the employees almost always sound congested or sick while working in the store. The last time I visited, I happened to run into one of the employees during her lunch break in the food court. Outside of the store environment, her voice sounded completely different--clear and healthy. That experience made me even more concerned about the air quality and overall working conditions inside the store. As a loyal customer, I am disappointed that this issue appears to have gone unaddressed for so long I am surprised no one has reached out to OSHA. Carter's should be taking better care of its employees. They are the primary reason my family continues to shop at this location, and it is frustrating to see them working in conditions that seem unhealthy and uncomfortable. I am honestly surprised that these conditions have not prompted further investigation, especially with warmer weather approaching. Employees and customers should not have to spend time in an environment that feels difficult to breathe in. Something needs to be done. Until there is a noticeable improvement, I will be taking my business to the Azalea location. A very disappointed customer. read more

What keeps me returning to this Carter's? The fact that I have the two most active kids on the planet who need a variety of clothes for a multitude of occasions... Carter's produces some of the most stylish, colorful clothing that can handle the wear and tear of intense activity. Unlike some of the other stores I shop at the Citadel, this one has "outlet prices." Not on everything, but you should be able to find quite a few versatile pieces for your baby, toddler or young female or male child at an affordable price. The employees are always so busy here that I never see anyone on the floor. They're always super nice at the register, though. Even when it is crazy busy, this store is typically clean and organized. Yesterday (11/6/15) while I was checking out, some dude behind me started bitching and whining about something kind of legit. Still. It was a dude. Bitching & whining... "Hey, yo, excuse me - is it two lines or one?" He complained to the girl that was helping me at the register that another woman basically cut in line in front of him. My good conscience told me to shut up and not respond by saying, "Hey, yo, why didn't you tell her that you were already waiting in line?" Most people don't know how to respond to these types of people. It made the girl that was checking me out noticeably nervous. The employees ended up handling it well, but I somewhat agree with the dude... Rearrange the store to make it easier to navigate (& with strollers - it's a children's clothing store for crying out loud) or just find a way to simplify that checkout line - especially since it's always busy here! Old Navy (next door) rearranged their entire store and it's so much better. Sometimes you just can't please bitchy whiners, though. They bring n-o-t-h-i-n-g to the t-a-b-l-e. All that being said, this is the BEST children's clothing store at the Citadel. If you care about saving money and scoring good deals, definitely sign up for their rewards. Carter's has the best clothes for newborns! Their clothes are cute, soft, comfortable, and very practical. Other stores have stylish baby clothes but they tend to also have random placement of buttons, strings, etc. which is a big no-no for babies. Carter's clothes also have the right amount of stretchiness, so dressing and undressing a baby is easy, unlike some other brands. Young babies often tend to have spit up and have diaper leaks so it is a given that you will be changing your baby's clothes quite often. My advice to new mothers is to buy Carter's clothes for your baby up until about 5-6 months. Then start branching out to other stores because by about 6 months your baby will be more "structured" (therefore easier to dress) and spit ups and diaper leaks decrease dramatically. This store has a lot of inventory and things are constantly on sale or on clearance. They also have coupons (spend $50 and save $10) every month. We came here and stocked up three months before our daughter was born and got some great items (not just onesies but also a fantastic bathrobe). Their prices are very reasonable. read more

I came here to get some zip up footies for my baby girl. They have a great selection of really adorable clothing for reasonable prices. I strongly feel that you must shop in person for Carter's clothes, because you will find that some of their designs are "stamped" on and for me that's unacceptable quality. I was able to score some cute door-busters for $6 a piece, so yay! I was pretty happy with my purchase, despite the line at the register that wouldn't seem to move (even though there was only a handful of customers before me). It's when we got home to discover that we were missing a pair of sunglasses, which I only added so I could use the in store coupon- what a fail and how annoying! I am gonna have to check my shopping bag every time I shop at this place, kind of like how you need to check your McDonald's order to make sure you got everything- sigh. read more

By far the worst experience at Carter's. Today we decide to drive to Citadel to do some shopping and of course we had to stop by at Carter's we have a 8months baby boy and we practically live at Carter's he wears nothing but clothes form Carter's. Anyways we decided to get him a cute outfit and cute shoes, since we shop there a lot we had a 10$ rewards,He's outfit was marked down at $8.99 plus an extra 40% off so final sale was $5.39 and the shoes were 20$ but they were on sale for 12$ our total was $17.39 plus tax out total was 19$ but we had the 10$ in rewards we were going to pay $9 right ? Well Vannesa out cashier and her super long nails messed up the transaction and had to cancel it and ring our stuff up again and was charging us $19.00 so my husband told her we were going to use our 10$ we had and she said they weren't they're anymore bc since she cancel the first transaction they were used and she couldn't get them back. She just stood there waiting for my husband to pay so I told I didn't want to buy anything anymore and to just give me back my 10$in reward she called Jesus over and he called another girl who's name I couldn't get and then they try telling us that the outfit wasn't on sale but the tag said it was .. it was a big mess I got really mad bc they were so rude and instead of trying to help us in anyway they were blaming it on the system but I got a receipt in my emails were it shows she cancelled the transaction with her super long nails.. they were out of control just like her attitude.. Watch your purses and wallets in this store. About a year and half ago, my wallet got stolen from this store while I was standing under the cameras by the door. I stood around for an hour waiting for police. In the meantime, the store and manager absolutely refused to let me review the cameras nor did they spend any time looking themselves. Of course the robbers were long gone. Because you are often with kids and distracted, you are a good target. Even better that management does not care to see who did it and let them run free. I have loved Carters for a long time! Unfortunately, their pick up in store today is a sham!! I ordered for pick up today they no longer had several items however they place a hold on my debit card for the total purchase even though they canceled several items. And if they are shipping some items they place a different hold on your card. My purchase total was $82. I have a hold for $107. And they cancelled 3 items. Yet the hold will not be released until they ship everything. So unfortunate. I call customer service the wait time is 45 minutes. Then the representative puts me on hold and after 18 minutes on hold the call is mysteriously hung up. I love their baby clothes but unfortunately will never shop in carters again read more

I can't honestly say that the way you treat customers is key in having them return to your business. I usually shop at this carters for my 3 kids, but the last couple of times i have visited the customer service has been AWFUL!! The worst shopping experience ever! I ordered my package online and choose to do store pick up. I got an email said my package was delivered on 12/01, so I went to the store for 30 mins driving and expecting to pick up my package on 12/04. After long line waiting I got rejected, the sales assistant let me go home and and for the 3rd email to be noticed my package is already in-store, not even check storage or do anything for me, but when I checked with the FedEx tracking it shows my package was already delivered on 12/01 and was signed by a lady named Crystal! And now it's been more than 2 weeks since I placed my order, still didn't get any updates on it, this is my first time to shop at Cater's, I got very disappointed and unhappy with their customer service. read more
