Warning: Unethical and Dangerous Business Practices - AVOID at all costs! I am writing this on behalf of my elderly mother, an 80-year-old widow who was recently a victim of Car Plus Credit's deeply unethical and dangerous business practices. They knowingly sold her a vehicle that was unsafe to drive, putting her life and the lives of others at risk. My mother, who trusted them to provide a safe and reliable car, was sold a car that had critical safety issues. Within days it became clear there were issues, and she returned multiple times asking them to check and was told everything was fine. Within a month and 350 miles later the car was not drivable and when taking it to an independent mechanic was told there were zero rear brake pads, grooves had been worn into the rotors, the transmission fluid was extremely low and burnt, the cv axle was throwing grease and needed replaced, the serpentine belt was cracking, and there was no coolant. When she contacted the dealership to explain the situation and ask them to make it right, they refused to take responsibility and treated her so poorly; they dismissed her concerns and told her the sale was final, showing a complete lack of integrity or concern for their customers' well-being. They took advantage of a vulnerable person and are now refusing to correct their wrongdoing. Please, do not make the same mistake my mother did. This dealership's priority is profit, not safety. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! They totally took advantage of my 80 year old elderly mother. Sold her a dangerous car that would have never passed inspection if it was inspected any where else than their OWN shop. 2 days after purchase the check engine light came on. She took it to the car lots 4 different times for them to just turn it off and tell her, " some times these lights come on for no reason" She then took it to a real mechanic. The back brakes were metal on metal, the serpentine belt was cracked numerous places and frayed, contained 1 tablespoon of burnt fluid in the transmission, both CV joints were throwing grease, that was just the serious repairs needed, costing her $1800. When she went to the car lots to show them the repair bill with hopes of some reimbursement, she was basically told by Todd to shut up, they didn't need to waste their time listening to her and she should just get an attorney. I am reporting to BBB and my sister is filing a grievance case. read more

My mother brought a vehicle January 8th,2025 and engine locked up February 6th, 2025 the warranty they talked her into purchasing that they said covered all major parts only covers $1500 when she called to inform them about what was going on with the vehicle the owner stated that its not they problem and that they are unable to do anything about it. The repair cost to fix the engine is $6700 my mother is on a fixed income how right is that. I bought a 4 wd pickup several years ago and was very happy with it. Then my grandson hit a deer and destroyed it. About 6 weeks ago I bought a 2008 nissan titan 4 wd. It only had about 110,000 miles on it so I figured it would last a long time. The first week, it threw the front drive shaft because the bolts were only finger tight. A couple of weeks later I had to replace the passenger front CV Axle and the hub. I wasn't happy, but things happen. Then, last week we were 4 hours from home and the transmission went out.I put it in a shop in springfield and paid them to diagnose the problem. I then called cars plus credit and asked them to help me. This was just too much money to put in repairs and also be able to make my payment. I was told to have it taken from springfield up to their lot. Their mechanics were going to check it out and if they agreed it is the transmission, they will order one and put it in, on their dime. I paid a transport company to haul it from springfield to independence. I will be talking to the owner tomorrow morning to see what his plan is. I will update this and let everyone know if they really do fix it or if they try to make me pay for it. For now, I am giving them 3 stars. If they come through with putting a new transmission in and paying for it, I will definitely change it to a 5. read more

Sold me a truck that I had nothing but problems with. Brought it to 2 different mechanics, both said the same thing. At this point its a few months after purchase and I called and explained the thousands in repairs I was facing, asked if there was anything they could do for me, the guy laughed on the phone. I requested to speak with the owner and he called me the next day. He was respectful, but simply explained there was nothing that he would do for me. I get it, it's a business, they are there to make money. It's just not how I would do business. Broken promises They gave a written promised to fix the running board on a Lincoln Navigator i had purchased from them and didn't fix it. They said it would take a dealership to fix and just moved it out the way. The whole reason I bought the vehicle was because the running boards helped my grandfather get in the vehicle. Do not ever buy a car from these people. I bought a Subaru from them a few weeks ago and it literally lasted one day. My son drove it for 200 miles to Columbia Missouri and it blew a head gasket. The mechanic said that the dealer stuff the radiator with some type of sealant leak proof instead of just replacing the radiator and because of that it blew a head gasket. $4000. We took it back 4 times for repairs, only to have their mechanic clear the engine error and tell us it was fixed. The salesman promised it would be fixed, or that he would pay to have it fixed by a dealership. I ended up replacing a part myself because they wouldn't. That didn't fix it. We tried to contact them again, and they said to use the warranty and take it to a dealership. Well, the warranty is garbage too, and we have no way to fix a car we just bought. Broken promises. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS!! THE OWNER HAS NO ETHICS AT ALL!!!!! The owner, Todd, is the single most unscrupulous person I have ever met. My wife, daughter and I came in on Monday to look at cars. We found one we really liked, but the air compressor didn't work. They said they would fix the compressor and let us know when it was ready to be picked up. I asked our salesguy (Michael) if I needed to put any money down to make sure it wasn't sold out from under me. He assured me that this car was ours. We were EXTREMELY interested in the car and would have paid cash for it when we bought it when the compressor was done. Tuesday came, I got a call from a different salesperson saying the compressor would be in on Wednesday. Wonderful. About 2:00pm on Wednesday, I received a call from Michael saying the compressor was fixed and that I could come get the car. I said I would be there in about an hour. 30 minutes later, I receive a call from the owner, Todd, telling me that someone else had just bought the car - cash. He then proceeded to tell me that I didn't have any money on the car and that he just has to sell cars, he has 10 to 15 other cars that we could look at, but that the car my daughter REALLY wanted had been sold. I told him that I asked on Monday if I needed to put anything down on it so this wouldn't happen, but that Michael told me no, it was ours. But apparently someone's word doesn't count for anything at all. How hard is it to wait just one more hour? Or even one day, if you sell so many cars a day or month? It doesn't hurt one bit, other than to potentially be true to your word? In fact, not once did Todd apologize and Michael even told us that he doesn't care if we buy a car from them or not. What's worse is that I had just praised Todd on Monday for responding to every review on Google, whether 1 or 5 stars. Well, Todd, I will personally do everything I can to ensure that anyone and everyone I talk to will know about this experience. And I will not stop telling people about the worst customer service experience I have EVER had, and trust me, I've had a lot. You do not deserve to be in business treating customers and potential customers this way. You have also proven to a potential repeat customer (my 16 year old daughter) that all used car salespeople are the same and should not be trusted. read more

Bought this car on Saturday. Died Saturday night. Called the dealership to see if they could help with the $2300 repair in any way. I have a wife and 6 children and work a job that only pay $11.00 an hour. I can not afford to fix the car. Still has the original clutch in it...storytime is fun, but its going to be more fun when a mechanic thats NOT on your payroll explains to the judge (and your mech.) how you sold me a 27,000mi car with a failed slave cylinder, a salvage yard transmission, a previous wreck to the front end (all of which wasnt disclosed to me)- a car that was unsafe to drive, putting my & other people's lives in danger. Have bought 3 vehicles and sold one for my sister to Todd. I have seen on different sites things that have been said about him and from my experiences with him, nothing could be further from the truth. For instance: I bought a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado from him 6 years ago and it still runs like a top, sure I have had to do some minor fixes but what vehicles don't, my son bought a 95 nissan from Todd 4 years ago during his junior year and he just sold it recently. Todd has good vehicles the only complaint I have is my own, that I didn't buy the king ranch he had there 3 years ago after I test drove it. His people are good people and I have never seen them mistreat anyone and a good testemant to Todd is that quite a few of the folks he had at the old location moved with him to the new location and have been with him for awhile read more

To start off, I knew I wanted an SUV but ended up going with a Ford Focus, decided I wasn't a huge fan and wanted something different. Todd told me it wasn't an issue and to find something on the lot that I liked better, ended up finding a Honda Pilot and fell in love!! Paperwork was super easy and it wasn't an issue that I wanted to trade in and they were all super helpful! Well, I ended up having an issue with the Pilot accelerating and had to get it towed, called and let them know what was going and they told me to bring it up and they would take care of all the maintenance at no cost to me considering I'd just gotten the vehicle. Dropped it off at 6pm, got it back the next morning with no check engine light on, full fluids, and everything running perfectly! Most car dealerships with no warranty/as is would've told me to basically get lost and deal with it myself but they were all around insanely helpful and helped take the stress off of everything going on. We bought an SUV there on Nov. 11th 2017. Within a week the back heater quick working and a switch had to be replaced for the 4x4. When I called our salesman he said bring it in to our shop and we will look at it because you have a warranty. Brought it in (they had to replace a break light anyway) and was told by both their mechanic and gentleman working that day that the warranty didn't cover any of this... okay.. but we have only had the vehicle for 1 week and there is no heat and we have 6 kids... we ended up fixing it ourselves and paying for it. Right before Christmas we went up to speak to the owner about the repairs. The owner wanted to make it right and was concerned that he had not been brought in on this issue, but nicely wrote us a check for the heating element that needed to be replaced... HOWEVER, we have now had the Tahoe for 2 months as of last Thursday and the front breaks and rotors are bad, the struts are leaking, and the back breaks have MAYBE a month left before they go as well. Our mechanic is here in Independence, has a shop on Noland, he's response is that this vehicle should of never passed inspection. So now we are putting even more money into this vehicle... UGH.. I'm not saying that this is a bad dealership or bad people because you take risks buying a used car, what I am saying is buy with caution. This SUV has caused us SO much more money right out of the gate then we had ever expected. But we have to have a safe vehicle for our children. PS.. I sent people here to get cars and they have problems as well. Fix those attitudes and start working on those shitty ass cars.
