He declined to take any admission of guilt and I'm currently being forced to sue him for damages. Shortly after I filed the suit for property damage the transmission failed again and he declined to honor his 1 year warranty so now I am forced to open another suit to cover the cost of having certified transmission do it. He used to get referrals from the mechanic shop I use which will be happening no more after they have seen everything he did to me. Pretty strange him being unwilling to turn over his insurance information or make me whole financially for everything he/his employees did will cost him 10 fold in referrals.

I told him they went out of business so I could no take the SUV back to them and he said it would not matter as each Cottman location was independently owned and work done at one was not covered by another one. Kevin stated that my problem could be anything related to engine or transmission and for $85 I could bring my car in and they would put it on a scope of some kind and tell me exactly what was wrong with my 2008 Ford Escape. Kevin stated that the $85 would be applied to any work that they completed after this scan. I took the car to him and dropped off the SUV. Kevin called the next day and stated the Escape had an electrical problem and that Cottman could not tell exactly what the problem was and that I would have to take the car to an electrician to find out the problem. Since nothing was fixed, I asked him if he could apply the $85 towards an oil and filter change and he stated Cottman did not do anything for free and the oil change was not related to why I brought the SUV in. I don't think the oil change would have been free work because he stated I could use the $85 towards any work done. Kevin called me back the same day and offered a very small discount on an oil change but I was not interested in doing anything else with Cottman. I paid Cottman a total of $88.74 including tax and Shop Fees (I assume that Shop Fees was for the pleasure of using his car bay). I feel Cottman Transmission failed me at both the Wornall location and the Independence location. Enough is enough. Please do not take your car to Cottman Transmission for repair work. I notice that Certified Transmission now offers a 5 year or 50,000 mile warranty on their work. I would try them instead of Cottman.

Went and picked it up and drove to gas station to fill it up so my wife could leave town to see her parent in the hospital. Smelled fluid burning but thought it was the cleaner they used burning off (should have known better seeing that they had oil and fluid smudged all over the interior). She drove it home and was loading up when I saw fluid leaking on the driveway. Called the shop at 10:30 and was told that they had already let the mechanics go home for the extended weekend. Drove the vehicle to the shop and arrived at 11:01am. Doors locked and lights off. Had to run all over KC to find a rental car for my wife. Incurred several extra expenses due to their inability to do their job. Took it back Monday morning and they found that they had torn the pump seal on the transmission and took 2 more days to fix. Then they denied any kind of reimbursement for their failure. We have taken both of our vehicles to this shop in the past and had reasonably good luck there. Not this time and I will never go back. $7,000 in repairs, 2 rental cars, gas receipts, and a whole lot of time running around making other arrangements because they don't know what the hell they are doing.
