Took my family cars to Steve's for 10 yrs. When he sold to MD, I gave them a try, they were decent at first but the most recent experience was enough for me. Took in daughters older car for A/C repair, they said it needed a leak check for $150. They found a leak and said $700 would resolve the issue for mainline replacement. A week later it didnt work again, took back in they said another $2K to fix it because it had another leak. Took to another shop to verify and they said it was clear that 2nd leak had been there for a while. Would have NEVER gottten the first repair done if we knew it was $3K. When I surfaced my frustration they took no ownership of it. Im done w/ them. Do NOT recommend them. read more

I used MD Auto recently to remove and replace a damaged oil drain plug. The oil exchange place spent over an hour trying to get it out and failed. They referred me here. MD Auto was able to weld a nut on the damaged plug and remove it without damaging the oil pan. They struck me as a repair shop that knows what they are doing and would not take advantage of a customers lack of specific knowledge. They also offered to drive me home and then back the next day, which I really appreciated. Bottom line: I trust them and will be back. read more

Service Requested: Computer Diagnostic - To determine why my sons dash gauges would flicker, while traveling. It didn't hinder the vehicles driving capabilities, but when the dash gauges start bouncing up and down, brighter and then fading, it is less than ideal. My son called and spoke to someone, who said they would be able to determine what the issue was for $110.00. He drops the car off on Tuesday. Both Weds, and Thursday, they are still 'Working' on it. Finally, Friday morning, they call and say it is ready. The problem was an aftermarket auto starter. Charges my son $150.00 (He didn't explain the upcharge). My son pays the $150.00 and happily goes on his way. On his way back home (Less than 2 miles), the gauges started 'Flipping Out', as my son referred to it. He calls them, and they tell him, 'We don't mess with stuff like that', and hangs up...... Like what in the world does that even mean? So, did anything get done? Since they don't mess with things like this, then why would they have taken on the job? We had previously taken the vehicle to AutoZone and they scanned it for free, and found several sensors, which we were able to replace or fix the issue. We took it to these guys, thinking they were professional (At least for the price they wanted), as we were still seeing issues. We'll take it to another shop now. I used Steve's Repair for 15+ years, before these guys took over. Steve did take his time, but he never bullshitted you, and always did an honest job. Remember back in the day when the relationship you had with your auto mechanic was a personal one? They owner would know you, your car and your kids. The owner or his wife would answer the phone. If there was a question to be answered you weren't put on hold, she just yelled back to hubby, "Hey, when can the Clark's bring in their Jeep?". The bill did not hold any surprises. Honest work and the guy would stand behind it. Go to Steve's Auto if this is how you want to handle your car repairs. The guy is awesome. Honest. Timely. The place is organized and clean. I had some front end work needed to pass an inspection. I dropped off the vehicle and the owner "Steve" gave me a time it would be ready. I left and returned to find the truck hadn't moved from the parking spot I put it in. Steve said it would be another 2-4 hours, because they needed to get the part. I scheduled the repair 3 days before I dropped off the vehicle with them because they did the inspection and knew what I needed. He didn't care about my time...I would avoid, bedside manor is horrible. read more

I was 3 hours into an 8 hour drive and I had a car issue. Google led me to Steve and I'm so glad it did. While he was not able to fully address the problem, he was up front and honest about what he could do. Even better, he was kind to me. I was driving cross country with 5 kids and a dog in the van, and the stress and hassle of having to deal with a car problem was no fun.
