I had a major issue with coolant mixing with my oil. I knew it was related to my head gasket. I had taken the car to a different mechanic who charged me a diagnostic fee for checking the dipstick to tell me what I already knew. They recommended a used engine and other unrelated work. It was going to cost $12k. I've used Leibrand's in the past and knew they'd give me honest answers. They fixed the cracked head for 1/3 the price of the other shop. They were great and communicated everything I needed. They gave me 3 options to fix it along with reasonable quotes. Since I'm retired and on a fixed income, I chose the cheapest route. They fixed it but I had a related issue that showed up after driving it about 10 miles. I took the car back and left it after-hours along with a phone message explaining the problem. They called the following morning and told me what they found, fixed it and to come get it, no charge. While I may have experienced some inconvenience, I considered it minor and was treated courteously with the utmost respect. I have to say, their technicians are professional and the one who worked on my car explained what he discovered and showed me the part that failed and what I needed to do next, maintenance-wise. I've taken my cars to Larry for years. He will tell you exactly what NEEDS to be fixed and advises what other things you might want to fix or keep an eye on if he or his mechanics see anything concerning while doing the repair. His prices are very competitive when compared with other local shops and he's always polite, personable and professional. We like Larry and all his mechanics. Always very friendly, their place is immaculate, and so long as we make an appointment, they are always quite timely. I believe Larry's wife was my high school geometry teacher as well, and so I like the local connection. They are great on American cars but have run into some bumps with our foreign car and we're usually referred elsewhere. Not a big deal there. Some constructive criticism however: 1 - They work bankers hours so you gotta be there by 5 to get your car and sometimes this makes us feel rushed. 2 - We always have to come back after an oil change to have them reset the computer because it seems they always forget to. Not a huge deal, but a tad annoying to have to either go back or to just let my car beep at me that I need an oil change for the next 3 months. 3 - They are closed on Saturday. This one I'm actually a bit torn on. We've found ourselves in need of some car help from time to time on weekends and have to go elsewhere because they are closed. But they work really hard, and honestly I think we must have saved several hundreds of dollars going to them as opposed to the dealership, so part of me wants to be ok with them not working Saturday....they've earned it, kinda thing. So, take that for what it's worth. I generally like them and will continue to go there because they are very friendly and accommodating, and they haven't yet gouged us on pricing for labor or parts, so I'd like them to get my business. Had a referral from a friend and came in for an oil change. The drain plug was difficult, so they charged me double for the extra time as they welded a nut to the plug to get it out. Fast forward and I have Oil all over the driveway after a week long 500 mile trip. When i take it back to them they find that the oil plug wasn't tightened. Lucky I wasn't stranded with no oil on the highway at night. Hard to trust a mechanic that can't even get an oil change right. read more

Larry and his staff have been nothing but professional and courteous to us. I have taken several vehicles there and they do what is supposed to be done and there is never the "well let me tell you what else you need done" discussion. His prices are very reasonable and the thing I like the most is if I am not completely satisfied that the problem has been resolved, I can always have them take another look at my car for no extra cost. I called him because my car would not start. I told him I thought it was the starter. I had it towed in. I called a local parts store and priced the starter. When he called to say it was ready the price was over $200 more than I expected. There was a $ 79 diagnostics fee and the cost of the started was about $100 more than I was quoted as a individual. He told me if I hadn't wanted to pay the diagnostics fee he would have done it himself well I didn't know about it ahead of time. He is nice but I felt I got taken ! read more

I attempted to have my leaky tire looked at and repaired this AM as my light came on the way to workand Larry at Leibrand's was extremely rude He said he was too busy and asked if I could make an appt. I said I would but did he know how long it would be. He said "well, what's wrong with it-does it need replaced". I said I didn't know (after all, he's the repair shop not me) but not sure if I should continue driving on it. His demeanor was rude and tone very demeaning. I was appauled and shocked by the whole experience as he came highly recommended by 2 colleagues. I was very calm and said never mind, I'll take it elsewhere and he said why and I suggested he treat his customers more professionally in the future.
