Filet, Alfredo, broccoli

One of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. Especially, considering this is a chain. The interior is modern, clean, and well lit. The service was impeccable. There was actually an issue with my meal. The chef accidentally dropped a filet instead of a 7oz sirloin. We noticed it was taking a little longer, but just assumed they were busy. The kitchen manager came out and apologized profusely. He actually ended up giving me the filet and then bringing out the sirloin a short while later. The filet was sooo good and I will definitely order it again. The sirloin was good too. The waitress also got us a couple of giant to go drinks. We still have the tiramisu to enjoy later from the 2 for $45 special they have on the weekend. If you have never been here, or it's been a little while, GO and visit!

It's beautiful inside, the servers and staff are attentive and helpful, and the food is always very good. For example, my client ordered the Blackened Shrimp Alfredo and the shrimp were carefully placed to be standing up in a circle which was so much more attractive than if they were simply laying in the pasta and sauce. I also appreciate the convenient location off of 475 and the large parking lot.

I was disappointed in the lack of European wines but found an Italian on the last bottle list. It was $150 but I was desperate. Unfortunately, our server didn't come back for 15 min to take our order and then when she finally delivered it, she broke the cork because she didn't screw down far enough. Alcohol is a big money maker yet we sat for 40 minutes before it was poured. The food was the main problem. Not only a super slow kitchen but it was then served refrigerator cold. Everything. Fish, steak, green beans, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, even the plate was frigid. So we sent it back and instead of preparing a new plate, they tried to just warm it and brought it back cold..again. This was a $75 plate of food. At this point, we were concerned about food safety and said to just forget it. Luckily we had bread with our wine but they never offered anything else other than not charging us for the food which we didn't even touch. This was two hours after our arrival so went home hungry after paying for the wine. To top it off, there was a loud, raging fight in the bar area that we heard across the restaurant so we waited until they had left, concerned about a physical altercation. First, Kyle our waiter, was excellent with suggestions, perfect pace of service and politeness. He alone deserves 5 stars! Second, the assistant manager Emily, was very pleasant and welcoming when we arrived and checked back midway through our meal to see if everything was to our satisfaction... it was! They did absolutely nothing wrong, but in the end, our mealnsits above average. The first thing is the food. The portions are not huge, but that's okay at an expensive place. My ribeye was cooked exactly medium rare and was a nice cut of meat. However, it was drowning in butter and was just too salty for the meat to shine through. A good steak, but not great and maybe not even very good. My wife's scallops were very good and came with a great corn relish underneath. The sides must be ordered separately. We got the mashed potatoes and those were absolutely excellent-- probably also too much butter, but that just makes potatoes better. We got the feta appetizer and that was good, but very thick in our mouths. My wife had the leftovers for lunch and found it better as it's own meal The service was simply great. They knew we wouldn't finish the feta and had it boxed and bagged with extra toast before we were done with our entrees. Nice, attentive, detailed. We both looked at the cocktails and wines and saw nothing that interested us. We're not big drinkers, but were surprised. Usually an expensive place has something for us. The tables are very large. We were on a date, but we felt too far to have an intimate conversation. My wife skipped a few topics because it felt too public to talk about them. I do not disagree with paying a lot for exceptional food. I came in expecting to drop $200 on dinner. I wanted to wine and dine my lovely wife. But Benchmark was not exceptional. It was above average. And when I'm trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars, feeling as though it's not worth the price makes me drop to 3. It would have been 4 stars at $100 or maybe $150.

I cant remember his name but he was handling that party and us. Got me a cold beer pronto and you would have thought we were his only table. So other than having to darn near yell to hear each other across the table while the party wrapped up and one of the hellions actually tapping on our table on the way out (what the heck parents?). Things were looking up. Lunch has some cheaper options at a smaller size. I got the yummy spinach dip and parmesan chicken. My sis who hates spinach ate half my appetizer lol. Food came out hot. For your date night - find somewhere else to spend your hard earned money such as the standard or the registry bistro in Toledo. Your dollar will go further and you will leave much more satisfied. We were disappointed and still left hungry after a ~$160 tab, before tip, for two entrees and a glass of wine each ($13 and $14 each for cloudline Pinot and stag cab). Avoid the crab cakes - shell-like stuff in literally every bite with hardly any flavor down to the aioli, small portion at $24 it is not worth your money. Unfortunately had a fishier bite that really was disappointing. This was my first time that I have ever sent a plate back, which we were comp'd for sort of - server said it was removed but the total bill was still somehow $10 or so over the cost of items ordered. The filet was $66, it was well cooked at medium rare however it was cold at the time it got to the table, the " local mushroom risotto" was more of a pilaf - not your usual savory unctuous dish, and green beans were al dente however, there were only about 10 of them. I don't mind spending money on an expensive steak but for $66 I expected a great, hot steak with well done sides. The miso sea bass was well cooked and probably the most redeeming part of the meal. The specialty cocktail list is majority vodka based. Not the "top shelf" bar experience that you'd be used to if coming from Detroit area or the registry or even Hannons block in downtown Toledo. Overall, I recommend looking somewhere else for your date night, there are great places in the Toledo area to be enjoyed.

There's a bar on one side with a wall separating it from the "dining room" but there are windows so you can see over. There were chairs stacked up in the corner next to a defunct retro game. It felt like I was in the basement of an Elks club in the 80s. All it was missing was a cloud of smoke and a pull tab machine on the wall. It was us and another couple that I overheard say was also their 1st time in. The waitress said the prices for all steak and chops were $5 more than the menu. Bringing my steak to $33. We became very concerned when a nervous cook kept popping in and out of the kitchen accompanied by the sound of a microwave door opening and closing several times. The neighboring couple asked what was good and the waitress just stared reading the menu off. My husband ordered a burger and fries. The burger looked pretty good and the fries were hand cut but there were only about 10 of them. My steak was cooked appropriately and tasted good but 50% of it was fat so that was disappointing. It was served with the Veg of the day (a mixed bean blend) and a small baked potato. The beans were watery didnt have a speck of seasoning or butter on it. It looked like something youd see on a tray at the old folks home. The potato was small for a baked potato but adequate. The waitress had also asked if we'd like bread. When it came out it was 2 slider buns with what I assume was margarine. It wasn't edible. My husband ordered an IPA for his first beer and said it was skunked. No one else came in the whole time we were there. 6:30ish on a Saturday and the only 2 couples there were newcomers. I dont know what that says about the place. Can't say I'd order a steak again but I might return for a burger.
