I took a chance on this during the covid lockdown because this is the rare opportunity that we have plenty of time to get us different meals since I'm the only seafood eater. they were timely, clean, and polite the serving size was beyond acceptable (I'm no tiny eater and had less than half.) the packaging was was perfect. I worry about getting seafood to go but it was all wrapped up seafood quality... I had shrimp and mussels combo. my only issue is that the house seasoning is unbelievably SALTY. And I like salt. I got the crayfish meal from there after not eating for the day and at it tasted amazing at first but then a few hours later I was puking uncontrollably and ended up going to the emergency room where I found out I had food poisoning! Ever since my trip to New Orleans I've been dying for more Cajun ANYTHING! This place did not disappoint. I didn't have overly high expectations for strip mall seafood in a sketchy area of Toledo, but don't let the humble exterior and less than ideal location fool you. This is THE best seafood in the Toledo area. It's much better than the chain competitor that will go unmentioned (cough cough Red Lobster). I read a few people's reviews complaining about it being pricy... it's NOT! It's fair market price for seafood, similarly priced to higher quality seafood counter at a grocery store or local fish market AND they cook it to perfection! I have paid double or triple the price at other locally owned seafood spots. All of their seafood dinners come Baked, fried, or steamed WITH potatoes, corn, and broccoli. You show me anywhere you can find a half pound of QUALITY large shrimp WITH three sides, lemon wedges, clarified garlic butter, and cocktail sauce cheaper and I'll gladly give it a try. For 12.95$ I couldn't have bought and made it myself any cheaper... and I would have had to deal with a stinky kitchen, dirty dishes, deveining, and then find the time to stand over the stove. I do recommend calling ahead... it takes a minute to make GOOD seafood properly and there really isn't much to do while you wait. It is carry out only. I can't wait to go back and try the house seasoning. The Cajun steamed shrimp was FIRE! My daughter and I smashed. She looked at me like, "really mom?" When we pulled in. We didn't even make it home before she had polished off half the meal. I will be back, and I will be telling my seafood loving friends all about Crab Island. read more

I've been curious about this place for a long time now. Was craving shrimp so I did a Grub Hub order this evening. Got the large shrimp platter for $14.99 with an extra piece of corn. The food was amazing. The shrimp was cooked perfectly! Lots of potatoes and broccoli on the side. The only downside is that it was a mess when I received it. Leaked all over the bag, my kitchen, etc. I will order again when I am in the mood for good seafood! read more

Want some seafood, but tired of red lobsters and those local stops where everything is fried?!? Omg you have to try out this place. Everything is made fresh, and nothing is deep fried. Everything is steamed/baked. Everything you order comes with broccoli and potatoes. Their house seasoning is soooo good and you can add extra if you want. They also have Cajun spice for those who like a kick! I'm just saying, This has been my go to place whenever I want some tasty shrimp! Just note that their shrimp is not peeled but it seems like a boil so the way that they cook it just keeps all that good juicy flavor in. I have no complaints about this place at all since they have opened. I've also brought a platter to work and in turn my co-workers loved it so much they went and bought some too. They sell more than shrimp at this restaurant of course... lobster, crab, various types of fish like catfish, tilapia and perch... even crawfish. If you go on their fb page you can find a special every so often as well. They are very reasonable in price imo. Those are all the pros. The cons in my opinion are 1:no eating area, 2:wait time seems kind of long every time I go even when I order ahead. I really can't complain about the wait time too much though because I'd rather have it up fresh than be served something that was cooked hours before. I walked in yesterday the place was empty no tables nothing was on display.... I asked what's the difference between Large and jumbo shrimp and the girl at the register told me only the Price!!!! So technically this is a seafood market. With fresh seafood on display. But it really a seafood boil. We ordered the lobster shrimp crab legs I think #29?on the "menu" the lady behind the counter was nice and informative. Nothing here is fried steamed or baked only. They have different seasoning we tried the house very tasty. The food cooked in its sauce with potatoes, broccoli and corn. Was very tasty. Since this is a market there is no place dine in. So everything is to go. The owners are from Chicago so this is kinda fresh idea here in Toledo. Pretty decent selection. read more

This place place actually has really good food. The reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because of the awful service. We are in the middle of a pandemic and this place had no signs up about social distancing or masks inside or even outside the restaurant. They were packed at that with only one person (slowly) taking orders. It was about a 30 minute wait in line for my online order that was ready for pickup. I also notice none of the staff walking around in back were wearing gloves. Stay safe people. read more

This was amazing food. Very fresh and seasoned perfectly. I weathered the snow to get it, and it was definitely worth the drive. Coming from Georgia where Juicy Crab is the go-to stop this place ranks up there with the chain. The service was friendly and fantastic. You have a few different seasonings that you can choose from as well which makes it even better for you to customize your order. They do not have inside seating though. The guy answering the phone hung up on me the first time i called on purpose, second time he's rudely talking to me and talking to other people, than he proceeds and says the phone is beeping i have another call coming in so he tells me you need to hurry up with your order after i was literally 20 seconds in the phone call on the phone. Having just returned from Put-In-Bay the previous day, we were still craving some seafood... well we picked the right spot! We ordered the shrimp and snow crab combo. The house seasoning is delicious and coats everything including your sides of broccoli, corn and potatoes. The shrimp was clean cooked to perfection. The crab legs were easily removed from their shells and again, the seasoning was amazing. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is the service. My family and I just recently ate at crab island. After eating we all suffered from food poisoning. When called to inform them what was going on they stated that this was their first time hearing someone getting sick from eating there and then went on to state that we must've got sick from something else. I've been meaning to try this place since it opened and finally checked it out. Dinner business on a Monday seemed brisk with about five people picking up orders. Mine was ready right on time. In a word, the meal was phenomenal. I got an absolutely giant portion of shrimp, salmon, and steamed veggies. I usually eat a lot and it was more than I could finish. Everything was incredibly flavorful. They go heavy on the seasoning, which is perfect. I don't know how many restaurants I've been to that underseason their food. Crab Island's fare was covered in salty, buttery deliciousness. You also get a side of lemon wedges, plus shrimp sauce and extra butter. I did not need the latter. Broccoli might be my favorite vegetable and they give you a ton. Everything tasted super fresh and was cooked perfectly except maybe the corn cob, which was a little done, but that's really just a bonus they throw in alongside the ample amount of seafood and redskin potatoes. If I had to nitpick, I'd prefer my shrimp shelled. Not a big deal, though. They tasted great even if it made for a little messy eating. At some point it turned into a finger food meal. I'm glad I tried it... best meal I've had in a while. Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. read more

I have been to Crab Island several times, and the workers are always polite, and the food is good. Today 07/12/2020, I went earlier to avoid being around others. I was pleasantly surprised with the demeanor of the young handsome gentleman who took my order. This young man was professional, patient and accommodating. Visiting the area and have never had a true seafood boil before. Three us us tried the large shrimp, scallops, snow crab, and crawfish with the house seasoning. I was quoted 15-20 minutes once I had placed my order, but when I came in to pick it up after 15 minutes it was ready. There was at least one call in and one walk-in order before me. The place was very clean and the young gal was very helpful in explaining the process and even in helping me decide the best combination purchase for my dollar. Total cost was $54 and change and was plenty for two men and myself to eat. The potatoes and broccoli had great flavor and were perfectly cooked, the corn was likely perfect if eaten immediately, but was a little chewy by the time we had it. I have no doubts corn is hard to get exact with a take out order. The shrimp was so tender and all the other seafood was perfect as well. Wonderful flavor to everything. The butter was delicious, creamy, not dripping oily, good cocktail sauce too As mentioned in other reviews, this is take out only, but there are chairs to sit and wait for your order. You could easily take this to a park for a picnic. The young gal commented as I left "you'll be back" and that I will! Highly recommend if you don't mind the mess of a peel and eat.
