Fantastic local business in Howell with great seafood selection; in addition to Michigan-made products, seafood dinner-related grocery items, spreads, dips, etc. Selection: literally any seafood or shellfish you can think of, they more than likely have it in stock and it's NOT freezer burned. Have lived in Florida for 6 years, I learned that jumbo gulf shrimp is life. They have it! And reasonably priced! There is also a fresh meat counter but the options aren't plentiful. I wish there was more but I'm sure that definitely depends on the traffic. Location: Tucked back in a strip mall behind arbys on grand river just west of Latson (less than 1/4 mile from Meijer); across from speedway. Not that they don't already do, but I think they would do stellar if they moved locations. That area is unfortunately a dying area....it may benefit them to move a little closer to that busy intersection and gain more foot traffic.

Tiny place in a strip mall off Grand River. Easy enough to find and good selection of seafood. We were there looking for sushi grade tuna, salmon and bbq eel. Walk in and checkout the wall of items available, along with the prices. There were plenty of people to help and pull items for you. They even have a great selection of sauces, spices and condiments. If you live in the area, they have coupons available in some of the circulars. I traveled from Chelsea but worth the drive. Greta prices, and people. I'll be back. I hope they have the baked egg cake by then. (Tamago)

I was so glad my wife finally got to experience this truck! I saw this truck a few months ago at the corner of Spencer and Old 23 in Brighton. I never usually get out that way, but it happens to be where the foot doctor is, so it was a happy coincidence the first time I saw it and stopped there. What happened next blew my mind... Instead of your typical fish freezer with only cod and perch, this place had a super broad menu of selections, ranging from sushi grade tuna to large octopus to every kind of freshwater fish I can think of, in addition to shellfish of all varieties. That first time I stumbled (literally, after the foot doctor) across this truck, I bought about $150 worth of seafood, thinking I'd never be lucky enough to find it again. The quality of the fish we cooked from that purchase was excellent. We still have the halibut left to enjoy, since I have been saving those fillets like a fine wine. I had also purchased giant prawns, which were soooooo good. We made steaks one night and everybody in our family got two giant prawns with their steaks - they were the size of little lobster tails and tasted amazing. Anyway, yesterday I was leaving the foot doctor with my wife and there it was again!! The seafood truck! Very exciting, so we of course stopped and she was super impressed with the selection. We bought another round of fish yesterday and she was very happy with the appearance of the fish when he brought out what we asked for. We got the red snapper, a bunch of lake trout and some other good looking stuff. Yes, the rumors are true....this place is indeed a bit pricey. However, when it comes to fish and seafood, I believe that you get what you pay for. Plus lets face it - giant prawns and halibut fillets aren't exactly staples needed to sustain life, these are luxury food items, so if you don't have a little bit of discretionary income to play with, you don't need to be anywhere near this place. The best part about it is that while talking with the operator of the truck, we learned that they are opening their very first brick and mortar location right near our home in Howell - and it is scheduled to be open before Christmas!

    caught the truck!

I want to be sure that you understand that I…read moream reviewing the Grand River/Latson Rd location in Howell, MichiganI must admit I never shop at this location because there is a more convenient one in Hartland, MI. I won't be shopping here again. I needed some items because I am sick and I also wanted to order a few groceries items at the same time. I placed the order rather late at 1:30 PM in the afternoon so I knew it would be an evening Pick Up -I thought getting a pick-up time between 6 and 7 PM was very reasonable. When I got there, we waited about 10 minutes, which is not horrible. (Other than there was only one other customer in the Pick Up parking area.) The young man came and brought the groceries to my trunk. (At the grocery store I go to in Texas I don't ever inspect the groceries before I leave & on rare occasion I've missed an item....but overall my purchases are about 99% accurate at my regular market. I've only ever shopped at Meijer in Hartland, Michigan, and I've not had any problem there either. I've only done a pick up order one other time. Anyway, I gave the young man a five dollar tip and thanked him. He did not shut the trunk which just might be something they don't do here in Michigan so no big deal. I got out and shut it. We had a stop to make before going back to my nephews where I am staying. It took us about 35 minutes at that store because we had to get some photos processed and decided to wait on them which is only a 15 or 20 minute process -anyway we headed back to Fenton when we finished. We grabbed the four bags and headed to the house. That's when I discovered I was missing all my grocery items other than one frozen item that was bagged separately from some flu and cold symptom purchases along with a instant read thermometer. I was missing the salad dressings, the lettuce and the Fresh Mediterranean feta and olives for salads. The reason that I ordered from Howell location was that the Hartland locations entire Online system was down so i couldn't order nor pay for my purchases and I didn't know how long it would be down. Guess that was a bad decision considering I didn't get half my purchases. Anyway, I'm think that the person who grabbed my groceries to bring them out didn't get the refrigerated items or maybe the grocery items - -not sure since I did get the one frozen item along with about six cold and flu remedies. At that point, I didnt feel like driving the 12 miles back to Howell. I did get on their website and made a contact letting them know and I'm awaiting a reply. Since no one was available, they are supposed to call me back. At any rate, this was an extremely disappointing experience.

I like the sign that indicates the carts have been sanitized. I especially liked the aisle guides chart on the actual carts. It showed where most of the items you might be looking for would be located in the store, that's a great idea, all stores should have such a guide on the cart to minimize down time wasted trying to figure out what aisle to find what you want, only to find after reading the generic genre of food items on the aisle signs in the hopes your item is down that chosen aisle. It rarely ever is down the aisle I hope or think it ought to be. It was nice and quiet, it's after 9 PM on a week day. I should try to make it a point to always shop at night, all of the time like tonight, it's so quiet, peaceful and almost tranquil. I was able to find all of the produce and non-perishable items too. There were 3 self-checkout registers and one manned register open. Went to the manned register. David greeted me warmly, asked how my weekend was, I replied over. He said he worked the weekend and has a few days off during the week. He wished me a good week and I wished him a good weekday weekend. It was a quick in and out trip in less than 15, not bad.

We'd heard mixed reviews but decided to give it another chance since it was close to home and seemed like a nice option for a special evening. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and we were seated right away. Unfortunately, no one came to our table for quite some time. After about 10 minutes, a member of the wait staff stopped by to ask if anyone had helped us yet. When we told them no, they quickly got someone over to take care of us. My husband and I both ordered the filet. He chose soup and fries, while I had the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. My filet was cooked perfectly, but his came out much rarer than the medium temperature he ordered. To their credit, they took it back and prepared a new one that was cooked correctly. The biggest disappointment, however, was the steak itself. Despite being cooked properly, both filets were extremely bland and lacked any noticeable seasoning. It honestly tasted like the meat had simply been placed on the grill with no effort to enhance the flavor. For a restaurant that specializes in steak, we expected much more. The highlight of the evening was the complimentary dessert they provided to celebrate our anniversary, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated. Overall, while the staff corrected the cooking issue and the dessert was a nice touch, the service delays and lack of flavor in the meal made the experience disappointing, especially considering the price. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to convince us to return.

Our server was polite but not friendly, and not particularly engaging or helpful. She did not explain the menu, mention any specials, or offer recommendations. For a restaurant that positions itself as a fine dining experience, we expected a higher level of service and attentiveness. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer. It was decent, but there was so much going on with the dish that the tuna itself seemed lost. For my entrée, I ordered the Braised Short Rib. It was absolutely delicious and was the highlight of the meal. However, it was served over a fried potato component that was extremely disappointing. It was overcooked, lacked flavor, and did not complement the dish at all. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye steak. He rarely orders steak at restaurants because he cooks excellent steaks at home, but he decided to try one at a restaurant known for fine dining. Unfortunately, the steak was the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was bland and lacked even basic seasoning. The menu states that the steaks are served with the restaurant's signature zip sauce, but none was served with his meal. For a $68 ribeye, we expected much more flavor and attention to detail. For the first time ever, he did not finish his steak. When we expressed our concerns, the manager came over, apologized, and removed the steak from our bill. We appreciated that gesture and felt the manager handled the situation professionally. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and upscale, the music selection felt out of place for the fine-dining atmosphere they appear to be creating. The energetic classic rock/pop playlist distracted somewhat from the elegant ambiance and didn't match the level of sophistication reflected in the décor and pricing. Fine dining isn't just expensive food on fancy plates. It's consistency. It's a server who knows the menu inside and out. It's attention to detail. It's a steak arriving perfectly seasoned and exactly as described on the menu. It's the feeling that every part of the experience was intentional. This was a huge miss.

My husband and I went here today for the first time, to celebrate my birthday, which was a few weeks ago. Our waiter was Mark, and he was very good and attentive. I started with their Strawberry Fields cocktail, one of the seasonal ones, and my husband had the Old Fashioned - we enjoyed both. For our appetizer, we ordered the beef tallow candle... I had had a similar appetizer at Frame in Oak Park a while back, which has now closed, and it was good. I didn't like this one quite as much, but it was still good, and also came with some butter. I had the 8 ounce petite filet and unfortunately this is where I was disappointed - which is especially disappointing because this place is a steakhouse. I thought it was nice and tender, but didn't have much taste. The zip sauce provided with it was very good with it, but I always say that the mark of a good steak is if it doesn't need any sauces to go with it. My husband got the 16 ounce New York strip, and I felt the same way about that steak as well. That being said, we got the Potatoes Romanoff and the Brussels sprouts for our sides and those were both excellent. I would order both again, but the rest of their sides also looked good so I would maybe try something else. The Reserve also excels at customer service. They gave me a really nice candle as a birthday gift, and a card signed by the staff. They also brought out a rather large birthday sundae on the house, with fruit in it, and I was impressed by both of these things... I have never been to a restaurant where they give you a full-size candle for your birthday, as well as dessert! Because of this, I didn't get to see the full dessert menu, but the guests at the table next to us were eyeing the crème brûlée, it seemed. Based on this experience, I would come back here, but I would maybe get different steak or an accompaniment for it - they had seasoned butter add-ons and others, too. Overall, however, it was a very nice night out.
