Fantastic local business in Howell with great seafood selection; in addition to Michigan-made products, seafood dinner-related grocery items, spreads, dips, etc. Selection: literally any seafood or shellfish you can think of, they more than likely have it in stock and it's NOT freezer burned. Have lived in Florida for 6 years, I learned that jumbo gulf shrimp is life. They have it! And reasonably priced! There is also a fresh meat counter but the options aren't plentiful. I wish there was more but I'm sure that definitely depends on the traffic. Location: Tucked back in a strip mall behind arbys on grand river just west of Latson (less than 1/4 mile from Meijer); across from speedway. Not that they don't already do, but I think they would do stellar if they moved locations. That area is unfortunately a dying area....it may benefit them to move a little closer to that busy intersection and gain more foot traffic.

Tiny place in a strip mall off Grand River. Easy enough to find and good selection of seafood. We were there looking for sushi grade tuna, salmon and bbq eel. Walk in and checkout the wall of items available, along with the prices. There were plenty of people to help and pull items for you. They even have a great selection of sauces, spices and condiments. If you live in the area, they have coupons available in some of the circulars. I traveled from Chelsea but worth the drive. Greta prices, and people. I'll be back. I hope they have the baked egg cake by then. (Tamago)

I was so glad my wife finally got to experience this truck! I saw this truck a few months ago at the corner of Spencer and Old 23 in Brighton. I never usually get out that way, but it happens to be where the foot doctor is, so it was a happy coincidence the first time I saw it and stopped there. What happened next blew my mind... Instead of your typical fish freezer with only cod and perch, this place had a super broad menu of selections, ranging from sushi grade tuna to large octopus to every kind of freshwater fish I can think of, in addition to shellfish of all varieties. That first time I stumbled (literally, after the foot doctor) across this truck, I bought about $150 worth of seafood, thinking I'd never be lucky enough to find it again. The quality of the fish we cooked from that purchase was excellent. We still have the halibut left to enjoy, since I have been saving those fillets like a fine wine. I had also purchased giant prawns, which were soooooo good. We made steaks one night and everybody in our family got two giant prawns with their steaks - they were the size of little lobster tails and tasted amazing. Anyway, yesterday I was leaving the foot doctor with my wife and there it was again!! The seafood truck! Very exciting, so we of course stopped and she was super impressed with the selection. We bought another round of fish yesterday and she was very happy with the appearance of the fish when he brought out what we asked for. We got the red snapper, a bunch of lake trout and some other good looking stuff. Yes, the rumors are true....this place is indeed a bit pricey. However, when it comes to fish and seafood, I believe that you get what you pay for. Plus lets face it - giant prawns and halibut fillets aren't exactly staples needed to sustain life, these are luxury food items, so if you don't have a little bit of discretionary income to play with, you don't need to be anywhere near this place. The best part about it is that while talking with the operator of the truck, we learned that they are opening their very first brick and mortar location right near our home in Howell - and it is scheduled to be open before Christmas!

    caught the truck!

I like the sign that indicates the carts have been sanitized. I especially liked the aisle guides chart on the actual carts. It showed where most of the items you might be looking for would be located in the store, that's a great idea, all stores should have such a guide on the cart to minimize down time wasted trying to figure out what aisle to find what you want, only to find after reading the generic genre of food items on the aisle signs in the hopes your item is down that chosen aisle. It rarely ever is down the aisle I hope or think it ought to be. It was nice and quiet, it's after 9 PM on a week day. I should try to make it a point to always shop at night, all of the time like tonight, it's so quiet, peaceful and almost tranquil. I was able to find all of the produce and non-perishable items too. There were 3 self-checkout registers and one manned register open. Went to the manned register. David greeted me warmly, asked how my weekend was, I replied over. He said he worked the weekend and has a few days off during the week. He wished me a good week and I wished him a good weekday weekend. It was a quick in and out trip in less than 15, not bad.

AWESOME ! We were a little hesitant about finding a restaurant as grandson just started going through the process of determining food sensitivities. My daughter called ahead to check about gluten-free options on the menu as the list of what he can and cannot eat is very limiting at this time and he is still figuring things out which can be rough for a high school senior. We were seated promptly in the front window area and Shannon S. was our server. Now I don't know if Shannon was told to expect us, but she hit the ball out of the proverbial park. Not only did she suggest side options for grandson, but when questions about ingredients were asked that she couldn't answer she went to the kitchen to presumably ask chef--but she came back to the table with answers AND a binder containing all the ingredients for each menu item (no, sorry that has garlic as a seasoning; no sorry that has a sauce with onions; no sorry that has cheese). In the end, grandson was able to choose with confidence side dishes in place of the standard menu options so that his meal wouldn't mess with his digestive system--he became more of an active participant in deciding his dinner--and that his meal was one he really, really, really enjoyed. He was surprised that a restaurant would go to those lengths to help a customer. Brighton Bar and Grill was a favorite spot when husband and I lived in Howell years ago and will definitely come back to the high service and quality food we experienced on this visit.

My husband and I went here today for the first time, to celebrate my birthday, which was a few weeks ago. Our waiter was Mark, and he was very good and attentive. I started with their Strawberry Fields cocktail, one of the seasonal ones, and my husband had the Old Fashioned - we enjoyed both. For our appetizer, we ordered the beef tallow candle... I had had a similar appetizer at Frame in Oak Park a while back, which has now closed, and it was good. I didn't like this one quite as much, but it was still good, and also came with some butter. I had the 8 ounce petite filet and unfortunately this is where I was disappointed - which is especially disappointing because this place is a steakhouse. I thought it was nice and tender, but didn't have much taste. The zip sauce provided with it was very good with it, but I always say that the mark of a good steak is if it doesn't need any sauces to go with it. My husband got the 16 ounce New York strip, and I felt the same way about that steak as well. That being said, we got the Potatoes Romanoff and the Brussels sprouts for our sides and those were both excellent. I would order both again, but the rest of their sides also looked good so I would maybe try something else. The Reserve also excels at customer service. They gave me a really nice candle as a birthday gift, and a card signed by the staff. They also brought out a rather large birthday sundae on the house, with fruit in it, and I was impressed by both of these things... I have never been to a restaurant where they give you a full-size candle for your birthday, as well as dessert! Because of this, I didn't get to see the full dessert menu, but the guests at the table next to us were eyeing the crème brûlée, it seemed. Based on this experience, I would come back here, but I would maybe get different steak or an accompaniment for it - they had seasoned butter add-ons and others, too. Overall, however, it was a very nice night out.

@thefoodie.99 Review - (3/5)…read more We finally made it to The Reserve Steakhouse in downtown Brighton -- a spot that's been on our must-try list for months. Beautiful space, great reputation, and the perfect setting for our long-overdue date night. We booked a reservation online, walked in, and were greeted warmly by the hostess. It was a slow night -- maybe a dozen guests total -- but oddly, we were seated right next to a very loud group of ten. Think "bar crowd energy" in an upscale steakhouse. They were having the time of their lives... just not the kind of vibe you want when you're out for a quiet dinner. Unfortunately, they didn't leave until about 20 minutes before we did, so conversation was basically a shouting match. Now, onto the food -- the part that did shine. Our server Jennifer was friendly but felt a bit ready to wrap up for the night. We started with a glass of Prosecco and hot tea for my wife. The Lobster Cargo stole the show -- buttery, garlicky, and rich, with tender lobster and crisp toast. A must-order appetizer. The Rainbow Carrots with goat cheese fondue and pistachios were flavorful, though they took 15 minutes to arrive after our first course, which felt odd given the simplicity of the dish. For mains, the Roasted Half Chicken was near perfection -- crispy skin, a rich mushroom cream sauce, and easily one of the best chicken dishes we've had (and we've eaten our way around the country). The Maple-Glazed Salmon was another win, with delicate squash, caramelized onion hash, and a Dijon sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The Potatoes Romanoof were the only real food miss -- too heavy on the cheese, too light on the potatoes. We were hoping for more of a smooth potato purée, but it leaned more cheesy casserole. Overall: Great food, lovely location, and an impressive wine and knife club program, but the lack of awareness in seating and atmosphere management really dampened the experience. With a little more attention to guest placement and energy in the room, this could easily be a five-star spot. Would we go back? Yes -- but next time, we'll definitely request a quieter table.
