Convenient location in downtown Brighton, service was exemplary, Michael was gracious and kind toward me and my guest. We both enjoyed our entrees and she got a dish for her child. Well they accommodated us with Parker who attended to every request - no rush, no hurries. Wines were served & entrees ordered - the calamari appetizer was simply to die for. Went on a Saturday with a reservation for 8. Nice upscale feel with white linens. I expected a lot with ambiance. Bruschetta is served cold and honestly not that good. The calamari I didnt try, but with 8 people it didn't get finished. The ranch with my dinner salad was delicious and that was my best part : ) dinner comes with bread with a dip that I didn't care for. Lamb chops were decent but the potatoes were very salty. The fish dish was served like warm and was just ...fine . 2 people also got gnocchi and loved it. The tiramisu dessert was DELICIOUS!!! Was overall disappointed in the food. Second visit for the first time in 11 years. Glad to see it still retains the old, warm charm it did back then. Drinks menu is larger than the meals menu but still a great selection. Our table started with mussels and enjoyed the chicken Marsala, and scallops with orzo for entree. The mussels were lovely, great sauce. The portion of chicken Marsala was huge, also enjoyed it but didn't have too much room to dive in with the starter and minestrone soup before. My partner didn't love his scallops with the citrus sauce but it's typically not his style, he figured he'd try it since there are quite a few seafood options, thinking it is a strong suit. I think they probably excel in their sauces and pasta in this case. Cream of asparagus soup was quite sweet and minestrone was unlike others I've had before, it was full of chickpeas. Service was great, the decor for Christmas made it extra warm and special. Would probably return for the pasta. read more

what could improve.....the food! No way can i rate this high. I ordered shrimp Luci appetizer which shrimp was good not over cooked but the lemon butter sauce neither had lemon nor butter flavor. Then ordered gnocchi in tomato sauce cheese bake. No flavor! I ate here 10 years ago and it was nothing to write home about and this gnocchi dish is an insult to Italian cooks everywhere. I think they cover it in cheese to hide the fact that the tomato sauce tastes like cardboard. I had it removed and replaced with chicken piccata and again nothing to rant about. Just like 10 years ago flavors a 10 year old can achieve with a recipe book. They really push the booze i guess so no one realizes what they are eating. Do not order the New York strip. I went here on a date and ordered the New York strip. Whatever I received was not a New York strip and did not resemble any normal steak that I have seen anywhere in the world. It appeared to be some type of mystery meat. I honestly did not even eat it. I'm not really one to complain because I feel like it's rude, but other people should be warned. My girlfriend did order the walleye and that seemed to be normal and pretty good. We also ordered a shrimp appetizer that was also good, but the steak was not edible. I would not go back to this restaurant personally. read more

Met up with a few friends tonight for dinner. Have some colleagues in from out of state too. There was 5 of us for dinner. We had reservations. Lots of famous and iconic mafia actors on the walls. Ordered Gorgonzola salad, Caesar salad, no croutons, lasagna bolognese, butternut ravioli and salad, Chilean seabass with an upgrade to the Gorgonzola salad, chicken piccata with the minestrone soup, chicken Marsala with the salad, merlot wine, IPA on tap and rum and coke for our friends for their cocktails. Jalapeño cheddar potato soup or minestrone are the soups with the entrees. The Caesar salad and Gorgonzola salads are good. The house salad and minestrone soups were good for our friends as well. The lasagna looks like there's 20 layers of lasagna in it, it was decent, sauce was good. The Chilean seabass was nicely cooked. The pesto risotto was just okay. Not melt in your melt or buttery at all. The tomato beurre blanc sauce is good. The chicken Marsala was good for our friend as was as the butternut ravioli and the chicken piccata. Desserts: Creme brûlée, cannoli, Gf torte, mango panna cotta, carrot cake, cheesecake, tiramisu, sorbets and one other cake. The creme brûlée was yummy. We have lived in Brighton for 1.5 years. Ciao Amici's quickly became one of our favorites. Great food, great ambiance, and great service every time. Last night we had dinner there for the last time as we are moving across state. During our conversation with our server we mentioned this. Shortly thereafter the owner stopped by our table having heard we were moving away. Real class. Later our server said the owner was buying us desert. Is this a true 5 star restaurant - not even close. Is this the closest thing to fine dining in Brighton - absolutely. They truly endeavor to give Brighton a slightly upscale dining option. So I rate them on a Brighton scale. Ambiance is that of an older, slightly upscale Italian place. Dimly lit, but nicely decorated. Date night type of place. Service has been good each visit. Most servers have been there a while. Workforce stability is a good sign. The wine list is a bit diverse and not very pricey. They have a dining room manager very familiar with the wine list and willing to open a bottle to let you try. They have a wider selection of very drinkable inexpensive wines. Markup is modest. Food has been solid. Nothing fancy, nothing high end, but definitely better than chain Italian. Surprisingly I like their meatballs. And try their Gorgonzola salad. A few times the food could have been warmer. Price point is about what I would expect. Decent value. I like this place. read more

Came here for the first time as a larger group to celebrate my grandmothers birthday. They provide free bread which is absolutely delicious and very addicting. It was early in the evening and they weren't that busy but I noticed that our waitress never brought me my drink. I reminded her again and she brought it. I ended up ordering the butternut ravioli without mushrooms and it was simply divine!!! I still crave it to this day. I got the pasta con pollo to take home for my husband and he devoured it. It was me and my mom's first time in this part of the country, and we were so lucky to find a place like this to dine at and celebrate my birthday. They had indoor seating, enough street parking and a lot in the menu to choose from. It was a good break from the craziness that California was going through at the time. Adam was our server and he did an amazing job explaining the whole menu to us. Their dishes all had very generous portions and really fair prices. We only had the appetizers, but the one that stood out the most is the Eggplant Augustine (im not even a veggie guy). We also had desert. Unlike the usual restaurants where you see pictures of dessert and a description of it, they actually have a dessert tray so you can look at it, too! Just said "since you're dining together I bet you don't mind." And walked away. She laughed as she said it. However, I don't feel that was appropriate for her to assume. In fact. There was a name for it but I don't recall what the name was. It was spectacular. One of the best pastas I've ever ate. My guest had the gnocchi, and it was very good to albeit not as amazing as my meal. Limited but good wine selection. Gorgonzola salad was delicious but a bit "wet". Service was great. Well, it was fine. But I can't picture myself returning. Here's why. We walked up with no reservation and were told that there would be a 30-45 minute wait. Ok. That's fine. So we stood outside in the unheated vestibule because we didn't visit the bar. (People who visited the bar could wait inside without being chastised by the hostess.) We finally were seated just inside the dining room, next to the kitchen. The veal was fine. Overpriced and wildly overrated but tender. The Gorgonzola cheese sauce was gloppy and reminded me of cream of mushroom soup but it was edible. But for a $65 meal (incl 2 glasses of meh wine) you sort of expect flambé or flying wait staff. Remember, I literally stood in the cold for 45 mins like a concert junkie. My impression was that Ciao Amici didn't give any consideration to the fact that their guests are not obligated to eat there. They have other choices. I've eaten at many other restaurants where the staff is extremely gracious and grateful that you're there, eating at their establishment. Those are the restaurants that I'll return to, and invest in. read more
