This is one of my favorite restaurants. The steak is so good and one of the best around. Highly recommend each time we go waitstaff is great and food is too.

We were last here about two years ago. We both had fish, which was great. Tonight we stopped in and the place was packed. They don't take reservations so we put our name in and waited about 25 minutes. Friday night. All of the servers kept checking on us. Our server, Rachel, was very helpful and knowledgeable. My wife had the chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese. Entrees came with soup or salad. Her salad was very fresh. I had the veal Marsala special and clam chowder. It wasn't traditional but still very tasty. Also a nice glass of wine. Portions are pretty large, we both took food home.

Decent restaurant considering not other options in the area. On the expensive side as we just got a $17 Caesar salad and it was another $12 to add 3oz of salmon......Fish and chips at $27. The world we live in is more expensive but not sure this is worth it.

My friend and I were on a shopping excursion and I found Lyon Grill on Yelp. After glancing at the menu, I was very intrigued by the Traverse City Burger. Burgers with unique flavors always catch my eyes and this one has sautéed dried cherries, blue cheese, and onion straws. The burger was done just right - medium well - as ordered and the bun was nice and toasted. Otherwise the burger flavors were just alright. I didn't taste the cherries much and the blue cheese was overpowering in some areas. The onion straws didn't add much either. I'd try another burger here, but wouldn't get this one again. The sweet potato fries presented as waffle fries were also very average. My overall lunch was pricey! The burger itself was $14 then adding a side of sweet potato fries added another $3. And to top it off our waitress charged me $1 for a small container of truffle aioli (which my friend had with her burger). It was good, but not $1 good! The place seemed clean, it wasn't busy so the noise level was good, and seating with ample. Overall just an alright experience and I'd try somewhere else if in the area again.

    Steak bites. Very tough.

Took my mother in-law out for dinner on Sunday afternoon. We were sat right away. Server was nice and fast. Appetizer was steak bites and bread, steak was grissily. Husband and mother in-law ordered fish, they were happy. I ordered rattlesnake pasta, great with a spicy kick. Toddler got spag with meat sauce and a meat ball. We had cheese cake and chocolate cake(was not good) for dessert. The only thing I can complain about was that the food took a little longer than I was hoping. I asked for everything to come out asap bc the toddler doesn't last long at sit down restaurants. The server coursed the food, ie app first then salad, then entrees. I specifically asked for everything to come out as quickly as possible. All that being said the food was great. I would definitely go back, just without a small child. It was my choice to take a toddler to a nice sit down dinner. But it all worked out.

Every single employee said hello, gave a smile, or conversed with us. Wow! That is rare and it felt great to be there. I was very enamored by the mugs and light fixture created by a local glass blower. Beautiful work. Space is large and we sat at the long bar, but there are tables and booths too. Patio outside for those warm days. They offer beer, cider, wine, spirits... you name it. We went with a few beers and they were great. Menu is clearly labeled with sours containing lactose. Love when it's easy to spot. Food menu has loads of vegetarian options with a small few that could be vegan. We only ordered the spent grain pretzels with mustard and they were delicious. They do have tofu or Beyond burgers to sub on the burger menu if you're vegan. Carnivores have loads of options here. While I'm not in this area too much, I will absolutely be back to this friendly establishment!

Mandy behind the bar was super helpful with recommendations. I had the cherry hard cider which was slightly tart and delicious. Next I had a cup of Wild mushroom Soup which was earthy and rich. I could imagine it being cooked in a cauldron in the woods. Lastly I had their blueberry lemonade salad. Wow! This was a treat from the slightly candied walnuts to the blueberry vinaigrette. I look forward to going back because the fried avocado tacos were calling my name, but I didn't have room for more. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Locals really like this spot, for good reason. It's comfortable, clean and service is fair to good. I placed an order for a carryout pizza and bread. With the busy bar it took a few minutes to catch the bartender to order; expect that placing an order might take a few extra minutes, so if you're in a hurry it might be best to just call ahead. I came in to grab a pizza to take home and ordered a large square ($19 for deep dish versus $17 for hand tossed) with 3 toppings (pepperoni, caramelized onions and Kalamata olives). I have to say, they have some top shelf toppings that you won't find at Jet's. Each additional topping on a large is $2.50, fyi. After looking at the menu online, I was considering ordering a 1/2 and 1/2 large but the pricing for each additional 1/2 topping was still $2.50. Maybe that was a website glitch but that would've meant that I was spending double the price to top a large pizza?! Anyway, I ordered the large and topped the whole thing the same; it was $26.50 for the 3 topping pie. I will give them props for their large squares!.. they are big...bigger than a Jet's larges (14x10), measuring 14x14. I liked that! They topped it with a good amount of pepperoni and a fair portion of the olives, but they chinced me on the cheapest topping, the caramelized onions. There were hardly any : ( Moving on, I ordered a feta bread too. They included both Ranch and pizza sauce, which I appreciate! Their pizza sauce is pretty good, the Ranch is standard but serviceable. Overall, I think it was a pretty good pie and bread for the price. I did see a ton of great items on their menu so I'll need to try them again.

We came on a Wednesday evening and I was so shocked to find the parking lot so full! And walking in, I was just as shocked to see how big this place was on the inside. Plenty of seating for sure! Of course we had reservations so that was nice and probably highly recommended. We enjoyed the bread and butter provided to the table as we mingled. They even had gluten free bread ($5 extra). We all ordered a variety of foods. I ordered the waygu meatloaf with mashed potatoes & string beans and it was really enjoyable. It was like eating an elevated home-cooked meal. Everybody was genuinely satisfied. And they provide separate checks so that was also a nice addition to our evening.

Husband and SIL both ordered the cowboy pork chop and both disliked the overwhelmingly sweet taste. It is served with a bacon-onion jam and must have also been rubbed with a very sweet seasoning. They asked the waiter what was rubbed on it and he did not know. He said he would ask the kitchen but never got back with an answer. They would not order the pork, again. Daughter's French onion soup was tasty. My shrimp and scallop Angelina was under seasoned and the sauce was a bit watery. Pasta did not seem house made. The shrimp and scallops were tasty. Appetizers were good. We had baked mozzarella sticks, which essentially tasted like mini Stromboli and crab dip, which was fine. Bread service with butter was delicious. Grand daughter's spaghetti and meatball was good, although the meatball was enormous, rather hard, and not kid friendly. Service was fine. We were not offered dessert. Drinks were very good. The atmosphere was nice, however, not especially family friendly. Most diners were a bit older. Next time, we probably would not bring the grandchildren along. Overall, we were a little disappointed in our experience but may give Karl's another try someday.

Our server was polite but not friendly, and not particularly engaging or helpful. She did not explain the menu, mention any specials, or offer recommendations. For a restaurant that positions itself as a fine dining experience, we expected a higher level of service and attentiveness. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer. It was decent, but there was so much going on with the dish that the tuna itself seemed lost. For my entrée, I ordered the Braised Short Rib. It was absolutely delicious and was the highlight of the meal. However, it was served over a fried potato component that was extremely disappointing. It was overcooked, lacked flavor, and did not complement the dish at all. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye steak. He rarely orders steak at restaurants because he cooks excellent steaks at home, but he decided to try one at a restaurant known for fine dining. Unfortunately, the steak was the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was bland and lacked even basic seasoning. The menu states that the steaks are served with the restaurant's signature zip sauce, but none was served with his meal. For a $68 ribeye, we expected much more flavor and attention to detail. For the first time ever, he did not finish his steak. When we expressed our concerns, the manager came over, apologized, and removed the steak from our bill. We appreciated that gesture and felt the manager handled the situation professionally. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and upscale, the music selection felt out of place for the fine-dining atmosphere they appear to be creating. The energetic classic rock/pop playlist distracted somewhat from the elegant ambiance and didn't match the level of sophistication reflected in the décor and pricing. Fine dining isn't just expensive food on fancy plates. It's consistency. It's a server who knows the menu inside and out. It's attention to detail. It's a steak arriving perfectly seasoned and exactly as described on the menu. It's the feeling that every part of the experience was intentional. This was a huge miss.

My husband and I went here today for the first time, to celebrate my birthday, which was a few weeks ago. Our waiter was Mark, and he was very good and attentive. I started with their Strawberry Fields cocktail, one of the seasonal ones, and my husband had the Old Fashioned - we enjoyed both. For our appetizer, we ordered the beef tallow candle... I had had a similar appetizer at Frame in Oak Park a while back, which has now closed, and it was good. I didn't like this one quite as much, but it was still good, and also came with some butter. I had the 8 ounce petite filet and unfortunately this is where I was disappointed - which is especially disappointing because this place is a steakhouse. I thought it was nice and tender, but didn't have much taste. The zip sauce provided with it was very good with it, but I always say that the mark of a good steak is if it doesn't need any sauces to go with it. My husband got the 16 ounce New York strip, and I felt the same way about that steak as well. That being said, we got the Potatoes Romanoff and the Brussels sprouts for our sides and those were both excellent. I would order both again, but the rest of their sides also looked good so I would maybe try something else. The Reserve also excels at customer service. They gave me a really nice candle as a birthday gift, and a card signed by the staff. They also brought out a rather large birthday sundae on the house, with fruit in it, and I was impressed by both of these things... I have never been to a restaurant where they give you a full-size candle for your birthday, as well as dessert! Because of this, I didn't get to see the full dessert menu, but the guests at the table next to us were eyeing the crème brûlée, it seemed. Based on this experience, I would come back here, but I would maybe get different steak or an accompaniment for it - they had seasoned butter add-ons and others, too. Overall, however, it was a very nice night out.
