First time at the Lyon Grill and it was a busy night! We had a guest in from out of town and the Lyon Grill was recommended to us. There really isn't a lot of fine dining options in the area. The overall decor and patio is very nice and I love the bar set up! The staff were very accommodating and they offer a nice selection of menu options. I was very disappointed with my chicken piccata entree. The mashed potatoes came out cold and looked like a lump of potatoes you would see in a lunch line at school and the chicken was super salty and very tough! I took two bites and was done! My salad was soaking wet, so I know it was washed but it was not appealing! The rattlesnake pasta looked good; it was super spicy as the name implies! My friend enjoyed her fish! I think the French fries were the hit of the show! I would not consider this place fine dining. They do offer pizza and handhelds which might be a better option in the future! The atmosphere came off as a higher end restaurant, with a nice "romantic" flair, including candles on the tables and dim lighting. Something you would see in a resort town on the water, similar to the old Weathervane in Charlevoix or Ricciardi's in Eastport. Price per plate is a bit higher, but it's not a turn off as the walleye, and Euro burger both were really good. Our server was also very sweet and helpful in knowing her menu well, and was able to assist us with deciding a little better on what we wanted. Food was served promptly too. Most menu items end up around $30 per person, as it's $1.00 for raw onion or $3.00 if you want fries etc. The cons of this trip: The burger was beyond medium well, and very dry. Our server did all she could to assist, it's not her fault. There are many places that have trouble getting temperatures right at times. She had another one right away to replace it. And it was fine after that. The other issue is sports. I'm not sure what it is with this state, that everybody seems to think everything has to be about sports. It suddenly turned from a nice atmosphere, to guys uncontrollably losing bladder control, yelling and clapping over some game on the tv. I guess we were hoping to get away from the sports bar atmosphere for a minute, and apparently there's nowhere anyone can go, including here. Maybe one day they could put Yellowstone reruns on, and we can jump up and down cheering uncontrollably when someone goes to the train station! Not trying to down the place, we think it was just an off night for us, so we'll try again in the future. They have some pretty good reviews from others and we're hoping to get there also. Everybody (EXCEPT the Pound in Brighton) deserves a few tries. It's a very clean place with beautiful accents, and the flame lanterns outside are a great touch. read more

My wife and I had lunch at the Lyon Grill, and it remains our absolute favorite restaurant in South Lyon. I ordered my usual, the Southern Chicken Salad. It has to be one of the best salads at any restaurant--incredibly delicious and packed with generous portions of pecans, avocado, egg, and chicken. My wife got our favorite appetizer, the ahi tuna crisps, which was excellent as always. We noticed they recently upgraded the outside eating area, and we definitely want to try sitting out there on our next visit! Highly recommended. read more

We were last here about two years ago. We both had fish, which was great. Tonight we stopped in and the place was packed. They don't take reservations so we put our name in and waited about 25 minutes. Friday night. All of the servers kept checking on us. Our server, Rachel, was very helpful and knowledgeable. My wife had the chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese. Entrees came with soup or salad. Her salad was very fresh. I had the veal Marsala special and clam chowder. Filet bites were incredibly delicious and tender! Spinach artichoke dip was tasty but the bread and herb butter were to die for! My cousin really liked the sweet potato fries with the caramelized sauce. Taylor provided friendly, efficient service & checked on us multiple times. Decent restaurant considering not other options in the area. On the expensive side as we just got a $17 Caesar salad and it was another $12 to add 3oz of salmon......Fish and chips at $27. The world we live in is more expensive but not sure this is worth it. read more

My friend and I were on a shopping excursion and I found Lyon Grill on Yelp. After glancing at the menu, I was very intrigued by the Traverse City Burger. Burgers with unique flavors always catch my eyes and this one has sautéed dried cherries, blue cheese, and onion straws. The burger was done just right - medium well - as ordered and the bun was nice and toasted. Otherwise the burger flavors were just alright. I didn't taste the cherries much and the blue cheese was overpowering in some areas. The onion straws didn't add much either. I'd try another burger here, but wouldn't get this one again. The sweet potato fries presented as waffle fries were also very average. My overall lunch was pricey! The burger itself was $14 then adding a side of sweet potato fries added another $3. And to top it off our waitress charged me $1 for a small container of truffle aioli (which my friend had with her burger). It was good, but not $1 good! The place seemed clean, it wasn't busy so the noise level was good, and seating with ample. Overall just an alright experience and I'd try somewhere else if in the area again. read more

Took my mother in-law out for dinner on Sunday afternoon. We were sat right away. Server was nice and fast. Appetizer was steak bites and bread, steak was grissily. Husband and mother in-law ordered fish, they were happy. I ordered rattlesnake pasta, great with a spicy kick. Toddler got spag with meat sauce and a meat ball. We had cheese cake and chocolate cake(was not good) for dessert. The only thing I can complain about was that the food took a little longer than I was hoping. I asked for everything to come out asap bc the toddler doesn't last long at sit down restaurants. The server coursed the food, ie app first then salad, then entrees. I specifically asked for everything to come out as quickly as possible. All that being said the food was great. I would definitely go back, just without a small child. Love the food and to support a local business. The biggest thing I just can't get over is the water quality. The well water is TERRIBLE! It made the soda bad and the water undrinkable. If you aren't drinking alcohol you are out of luck! Why doesn't management add a softener or offer bottled water for sale? Have not been here in years. The patio addition is awesome. They don't take reservations but you can do call ahead for 6 or more which worked out perfect for us. It is a bit loud and maybe that's something they can work on with some sound absorbing panels or something. It's a bit tight seating in there too. Everyone in our party ordered something different and everyone loved their dish. They said the smoked white fish spread was amazing but needed more crackers. The fried shrimps were huge. Our waitress, Charlie, was very attentive too. Can't wait to go back and try the BLT pizza and sit on the patio. read more

This place reminded me of a diner that was renovated with a facelift trying to be an upscale restaurant. Our table of 4 was almost on top of the table where one of the corners I barely could squeeze by. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. My favorite part of the meal was the roasted garlic board. The bread was nicely toasted and the roasted garlic and butter made it a great appetizer. I do wish we had a few more pieces of bread because we had a lot of garlic left over but our server did get us some dinner rolls to use instead. I ordered a Mai Thai salad and went with the Ahi Tuna instead of chicken. I liked the cilantro dressing but felt like the mango was out of place with the other flavors and the tuna was cooked right but on the bland side. My cousin ordered the filet and shrimp and requested it to be medium and ilit came medium well. I don't think the food is bad but for the prices I would expect a little bit better. read more

It took me living in the area for over a decade to get here - not sure why but I'm glad I finally made it. We decided to try something new after finding this restaurant online and liking the pictures of the dishes. The place looks pretty on the outside and pleasant enough inside. It was rather busy for dinner so overall experience was unremarkable. Food was hit or miss. Tuna appetizer looked delicious but wasn't. Lobster tails dish was subpar- lobster didn't have much flavor. Tasted like salt water . Thanksgiving dinner was ok. However, steak was good! I ordered medium and it came just as I was hoping- juicy and flavorful, baked potato was good as well. When I first saw food pics in that place, I was impressed and wanted to try it for myself. We had a party of 9. Food was brought in at different times. Half of our party finished eating and the other half was waiting for food. Service was not at its best but let's talk about food. Pictures below don't resemble the taste. Everything was super SALTY and I typically like salty but it was too much. Slider buns were so burned that you couldn't even bite into them since they were super hard. Medium well steak was done the same as medium. Surf and turf lobster was the smallest I've ever seen. Will not come back. read more

Doesn't look like much from the exterior, but the interior has a nice Cozy trattoria design scheme although well-used upholstery. I was hankering for a burger and the restaurant rose to the occasion. My gouda burger was juicy and the onion marmalade was on a perfect bun. I like their truffle fries with shaved truffle cheese rather than oil. I ordered medium and would preferred it to be pink, but it was yummy. I was the only person with a mask in the establishment, so plan accordingly. The Euro Burger was one of the best hamburgers I have ever tasted. The flavor was explosive. We were disappointed that the chips that came with it logged to be ruffles. My ribeye was good, but not great. It was a little tough. For a $40. Ribeye, that shouldn't be the case. The sweet potato waffle fries were really good. The show string fries were ok. I had their Dark & Stormy cocktail, which was delicious and strong enough without being overpowering. Our server was friendly and attentive. It seemed busy but you shouldn't have known it by the service: it was still great. The atmosphere and decor were a mix of upscale casual dining and sports bar. For the pricing it seemed a little off, just not as "upscale" as I would expect. The ceilings are high, which magnified the volume. It was a bit loud at about half capacity. This building was recently renovated, so accessibility is good. A wheelchair will fit between the tables. There is no wheelchair specific seating. read more

Very nice little surprise. I wish they had they patio open for dining; it was a perfect night. The only downsides --- 1) the noise level is through the roof, but not their fault --- some people just don't know how to control their volume in a pubic dining room and 2) the table we were seated at was a square wrought iron table (covered with a hard plastic sheet and further covered with a table cloth) that apparently was borrowed from the patio at some point (the patio was bare of furniture). The table legs of that table made seating most uncomfortable, digging into my legs at both sides. The bread and butter was nice, the wines reasonably priced and of sufficient variety to please anyone. My wife ordered the Rattlesnake Pasta which is a chicken pasta with a sauce with a bit of a zip to it. Not offensively hot but just enough spice to make the dish a real standout! She got a tomato soup which she stated was very good. I should have ordered a more mainstream dish, but the Crispy Chicken Sandwich was a real winner. I had the onion rings with them. The chicken sandwich (with avocado, no less) was a meal in and of itself and I could not finish the onion rings. We were dying for the bread pudding for dessert but absolutely no room for that. We'll defer to next time, because we will be back. Service was speedy and efficient. I don't remember the last time I ordered a simple soft drink and got it in under 10 minutes. Arrived at 5:30 for party of 4 on a Friday. asked for first available and was put on "outside list" (there was no FA option) because it was "quicker" by a hostess. Waited over an hour (was told 20-30 initially); watched several people walk in and get sat well before us. In spite of clarifying that we wanted "FA" we continued to wait. Finally when a party of 3 walked in Right in front of us and were sat immediately when another hostess finally realized we should've been sat LONG ago. Our server Sara was outstanding. Because of timelines we ordered as soon as our server arrived. However we still waited for our food for another hour. It was made more obvious when the table of 3 (sat moments before us) got their food and ordered dessert before our food arrived. Ultimately the experience was lack luster and the hostess and kitchen left much to be desired. I cannot say enough good things about our server Sara who really tried to make the terrible experience better. I don't think we will return which is a disappointment because the food is good. read more

Discovered this place when leaving South Lyon on Pontiac Trail. It's just north of 8 mile rd. Beautiful location with outdoor dining. Wife and I ordered their half pound burgers and weren't disappointed. Flavorful meat,half of a pound on a good bun. It came with chips but I upgraded to great onion rings. They have about six or seven choices of toppings,all seemed good. Service was fine and the outside was busy on a Sunday afternoon. We would recommend this restaurant if you're out this way. read more
