A big thank you to Ricky from Carpinteria Lock & Key for coming over and making a spare key for my car. I had recently bought a used Mazda 3 but it only came with one key. Since these keys come with transponders I knew u can't just go to Home Depot or something and get a spare. So in fear of losing it I called Carp Lock & Key and they came over and made a spare for my car. I know that going to the dealership would cost an arm and a leg so I didn't want to go that route. Pricing ended up being way cheaper than what the dealership wanted. Response time was incredible. Ricky was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. Don't hesitate to call them you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm new to town and needed copies of my garage key. I message Ricky via Yelp and he was super responsive, did a great job in duplicating my keys which were not regular keys, provided the best price around and he also provided amazing customer service (this is key, no pun intended). If you ever need a locksmith, this is the Locksmith you need to call or visit. read more

Fantastic service. Ricky worked with me over the course of 2 weeks on a complicated issue (had to drill out an aftermarket ignition cylinder on my 4Runner, replace and match keys to the rest of the car). Fairly priced, very responsive even during covid. Highly recommend. read more

Ricky was amazingly helpful - I'd locked myself out and had to walk around the corner to call Carpinteria Lock and Key- and he arrived and had my door unlocked before I returned. We made an appointment with Ricky to re-key the locks of our home. We showed up promptly, introduced himself, and explained what he was going to do and got right to work. He replaced the locks, cut extra copies of the keys, and lubricated the locks as well. The locks now open so smoothly! The quality of the keys is much better than what you'd get from a hardware store. Ricky really knows his craft, and we will be calling him for any future lock and key needs. read more

Ricky kept his word and showed up on time. There was no back and forth, changing times, and or quitting on me. Even from Carpinteria, he blew away my experience with a mobile SB locksmith who cancelled on me the same day they were to change locks for my client. Call Ricky!!!! read more

I highly recommend Ricky! He is awesome! He was very patient, friendly and accommodating. He took his time to really help. I Just had a minor emergency when my key to my Xterra was no longer working because had been worn down over the years. The old key was so worn that I was unable to just get a copy made but Ricky has a laser cutting machine and was able to make a whole new key that worked perfectly! I was pleasantly surprised that he charged such a reasonable fee too! Very happy and I will definitely go back if I need anymore locksmith services! read more

I couldn't have been more happy with Ricky and Carpinteria Lock. He was on time and had a positive upbeat attitude about the job. He is extremely knowledgeable and really did what he could to make the job economical for me. I just moved into my house so needed to have all of my locks changed. To make things a little complicated, a number of locks were not on the key I had for the house, and I didn't have the key to those locks. No problem. Ricky quickly tackled those locks as well. I cannot say enough good things about this locksmith business. He also offered me great suggestions about lock systems I can add to my front gates without trying to push me to do anything. No one wants to need a locksmith, but Ricky makes you want to have a need for one. He is such a pleasure to work with. read more

Ricky is so quick and cooperative. Really accommodated my schedule.

locked myself out of my home by leaving my keys hanging on the inside and the door was locked when I shut it. Carpinteria Lock & Key sent over a very skilled locksmith who arrived super quickly and opened it up fast and easy with no issues at all. read more

I can't say enough good about Ricky who is the very capable owner of this local business. My mother's home had all outside locks unable to work. In two hours, Ricky had all locks fixed, rekeyed and operating smoothly. AND made extra keys on the spot. He explained what was wrong with each lock and what was needed to fix them. In addition, he carefully explained the invoice. Ricky learned how to fix locks when he was 11 years old from his uncle, a locksmith. He found his calling at a very early age! His professionalism is admirable. We will gladly call Ricky in the future as well as share his name with others. Thank you, Ricky, for a most pleasant experience! Sue S. read more

Ricky at Carpinteria Lock and Key is a gem. He made a key for my 2015 Toyota for almost half what the dealership would have charged me for the same key. He was friendly, fast and really knows his stuff. He also made another key for the car at no charge that will unlock just the door just in case. Bypass the dealership and head to Carpinteria Lock and Key. read more

I would highly recommend Carpinteria Lock & Key. After asking around the area, several places turned me down and said they couldn't help me make a new key for my motorcycle. He was even able to come meet me on a Sunday due to my limited schedule! Even though I live in Santa Barbara, I will go out of my way to go to Carpinteria as I found a locksmith I will always go to in the future. He was very punctual, super helpful, and friendly. Ricky re-keyed a lock on my Condo rental for the new renters. He also made copies of some keys. Ricky was very friendly and accommodating. He even put initials on some keys to indicate what they were for... such as, SD for screen door. I recommend Ricky. read more

I left a voicemail and Ricky returned the call within 5 minutes. I explained the problem I was having with my home door locks and Ricky immediately suggested I could save the price of a service call by removing one of the locks and bringing it into the store for him to work on it which I thought was very nice however I did not want to mess with it so we set up an appointment for him come to my house the next day. Ricky showed up exactly on time with his moble workshop van. He quickly diagnosed the problem removed the lock and made new master keys right in his van. All the new keys worked perfectly! I also inquired about replacing the old lock on my outer security door as we never had a key for it. Ricky said he could install a new lock and key it to my front door key so I would not need to carry another key. That was great because the lock on the security was nothing like the lock on my front door. He had the exact new parts I needed right in his van and was able to fit the new lock into my security door even though it was slightly larger than the original cheap lock that was originally on the door. All the work was completed within 45 minutes. Ricky was extremely professional and polite explaining everything, including the costs, as he went along. If you need a quality locksmith Carpinteria Lock & Key is the place to go! read more

Ricky was great. We had to get our house rekeyed, and he was able to come over within a day of calling. A few months later I wanted to change the key on our storage shed to match the other keys. He made time to come over at the last minute despite a busy day, and due to the complex mature of that lock, advised me that it would be cheaper to buy a new doorknob and lock than have him mess with the current one. Despite making the time to come to our house, he did not charge me. He has my full recommendation. read more

Ricky responded immediately to my request for a new dead bolt that needed to be rekeyed because my tenant lost the keys. An estimate for the landlord was emailed within minutes! Ricky made helpful suggestions and gave me a great deal for additional keys that he made right in his immaculate truck with its enclosed workshop. Ricky is friendly, punctual, responsive to calls and texts, and all his work was done in a professional manner. No need to look elsewhere for a locksmith...Just call Ricky and you will be very happy. read more

Carpinteria Lock & Key was amazing. They worked to the best of their ability and gave their greatest effort to find a lock for a very, very old piece of furniture.
