Aside from one thing to be !! aware !! of, which I'll explain, I am giving Ned's Locksmiths a 5-Star rating because everything was very professional from beginning to end and they are very kind. I do want to just mention to future clients that I was quoted a cost "range" of what it would be which I expected and was in fact the cost for the lock issue remediation. Great! ***** It was the additional "Trip Fee" of $55, that I was not told about in advance and it was not a good surprise. I would have remembered having a conversation that they would be driving from Santa Barbara to Oxnard for the service call and it would be an additional $55 Trip Fee. Although I was not told this ahead of time, when I questioned the extra fee, Jill said "I definitely told you, you must have been confused since the repair fee was also $55". I decided to let it go because it wasn't worth any arguments and I paid a total of $110. I just want others to be aware of this to be sure you are 100% clear and know if there will be any trip fee or not prior to hiring them. read more

Quality, dependable work. Having to deal with the idiocies of a 1909 craftsman home in SB, includes issues with locks and doors. Ned from Ned's locksmith is very competent in fixing a myriad of locks. Ned and Jill are a professional team, my issues were promptly attended to and Ned was able to come the next day to fix my lock. Impeccable service, highly recommended. Wanted to install a key lock system. Called, Jill was extremely helpful, and quoted the price for coming the next day (which was our preference and allowed us to buy the material at Home Depot for $98) and for the installation ($40 for coming to our home on the Mesa, between $45 and $65 for the installation). Mark came, as announced, between 1pm and 2pm, very friendly and highly efficient. Knew the system to be installed, worked in a very clean and timely manner. Less than half an hour later everything was well installed and working. Total bill $105, well worth it. Highly, highly recommended. Would give ten stars if I could. read more

Mark is amazing! Had to have keys made to a tiny trailer that was built in 1948!! He made keys for us without a problem. Also have had Mark rekey my house and fix cheap locks I bought at Home Depot! Ned repaired a pesky and older front door knob to perfection. We had our handyman try to previously repair it with no luck. Ned was prompt, immediately got to work and did the impossible so it now works better than new. He repaired the other door knobs in our home as well. I needed the locks changed on a business that I just purchased. I found Ned's and one other locksmith on Yelp and called both. The woman at Ned's that I spoke with on the phone was extremely nice, and gave me a quote that was 20% lower than the other locksmith that I called. On top of that, Ned's was able to come out within a few hours to change the locks. The young man who came to do the work was very professional, very nice, and finished the job very quickly. We needed new locks for our house and looked to Yelp for recommendations. We quickly found Ned's Locksmiths, which came with many positive reviews. Not only did they come same day, but they couldn't have been nicer and more professional. We had a total of eight locks replaced and had all new keys made on the spot. I was quite surprised by the bad service I received. All of the other yelp reviews are what made me select Ned's locksmith as I wanted to support their business. However, the job never got done. First, he wanted to come an hour early even though we had scheduled the appointment several weeks ago. We agreed to that and adjusted our schedule at the last minute. Then, when he showed up, he apparently could not find the office door. There were two people in the lobby who he could have asked for help, but he didn't. All the while, we were inside the office waiting for him. When I called him back, he said that no one was helpful, and that he was going to do another job - not ours! Now we have to find someone else to do the job. read more

After a year of telling myself, "Make more keys," my wife misplaced my ONE key to my service vehicle. I needed a new key done in ONE day. I used Yelp to find Ned's. Jill was very friendly and told me that he would be here the next day. Around noon, two techs showed. Apparently, there are 10 wafers in a lock, buy mine only had 9. The estimate was 180-200. At 4, I was concerned when they were not back and my ignition was not in the van. At 8:00 PM that night he came back, put the ignition in and gave me 3 keys. Apparently, he had to solve the "lining up" issue due to the lack of one wafer (really not sure what these are). Anyway, I was very nervous because of the hours. However, the bill was just over that mark by $10! Recommendation: They should call customers during the day to explain what is going on. We contacted Ned's on a Monday morning 8 AM with an emergency to unlock a door that had been inadvertently locked. They had someone at our office within 30 minutes and opened the door. They had reasonable rates, unlike some places which were ridiculous, and were also the most friendly and professional on the phone--and even nicer in person (and I've gone to a number of places in town having lived here for years).
