Placed an order, one month after they received the payment still no carpet. Definitely not trustworthy.

Despite anxiety generated, I was satisfied. I wanted an oriental runner installed for the stairs in our foyer, and looking at a number of local options I those this one, assuming that being in Latham, adjacent to Loudonville, they must cater to the carriage trade. I made an inquiry and got a call from a Laura, who throughout my experience was readily available and quite responsive. One Sunday afternoon I wanted to look at samples and went to the show room. Only one salesperson, an older man was available. He was dealing with another couple and though I asked a minimal number of questions and wasn't intrusive or at all demanding, he seemed extremely unsettled when I patiently asked a few questions once he approached me after having been ignored for a very long time (granted, the couple he was dealing with were evidently demanding though also obviously not ready to spend any money.) All his answers were tentative and qualified -- and left me with more questions than answers; although he was vague and borderline unhelpful I was able to figure it out. It was annoying that I was clear I was looking for classic oriental pure wool runners and he also directed me to synthetic crap in designs in which I had zero interest. I was interested in carpet rods as well, and he showed me samples and then proceeded to get into some exaggerated justification for their pricing after pedantically describing their function as if I needed to be educated (this was after I'd told him we'd had them in another house; note, I found the EXACT SAME rods by the EXACT same producer on line for less than half of what Carpet One charged. And, Carpet One would have charged me $140 to install the 13 rods, which involve simply drilling/installing two screws per rod...) I called back the next day and fortunately got Laura; she arranged to have a installer come to my home to measure; I was rattled as the guy was borderline hostile and I was dreading his return (when he later did the actual installation he warmed up and was actually sort of pleasant.) I was required to pay the entire amount, in full, to place the order. Now this is part of a chain, but they were absolutely unable to give me a definite date for the carpet to arrive, and after a false update that it was en route (from Georgia or N Carolina) there was radio silence. I called to request an update as I'd been advised the order was en route, and the older guy took the call and got severely defensive and vague, indicated they had no ability to determine when an order would arrive -- despite my saying that Laura had earlier called to say the carpet en route, and that it depended on deliveries to Carpet One outlets in other states and could take many more weeks and left me worried I'd used them. Dissatisfied I called again, Laura clarified, yet based on the conflicting messages and negative Yelp reviews I was left uneasy that I was going to get severely screwed and should have gone elsewhere. It's evident that this store deals with alot of pissed off customers who must regularly go off on the personnel who are clearly gun shy. The carpet arrived about 5 weeks after I'd placed the order and paid for it; the installation was scheduled for a Saturday, then the Friday before I was called by Laura who asked if I could instead be available Sunday (I was flexible and said yes, but she seemed to expect me to go off.) The installation was efficient, thorough and well done. The runner looks great. Clearly this is a chain; Laura was professional and responsive but seemed stretched. The older guy was a mess and doesn't understand customer service (or simple effective communication.) Reading the other reviews here, I wonder whether I missed a speeding bullet. I thought the price for the runner, while not insignificant, was fair. Had I to do this all over again I would make more of an effort to investigate other vendors. read more

Been having complications with their customer service rep who has a nasty attitude. I've been doing sales and customer service my whole life and the way she talks to people is down right disrespectful and unhelpful. I'd suggest finding some place else to get your work done! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much in line with operational competence at this location. My wife & I wanted runners for our staircases in our home. The staff was nice enough, but after the process of paying, and getting our staircases measured, we were notified our carpet choice was discontinued. This was unfortunate and curious that they were unaware of if this fact throughout our purchase and measurement, over a few weeks. We returned to the location to pick another design, again the staff was very friendly and helpful. We took samples home and returned with our choice. We were told that our cost would actually go down because the carpet itself was less expensive. When we returned, the sales person made sure to tell us our price wouldn't go up, but failed to check the price of our carpet and give us the adjustment until we mentioned our previous visit. That's plain incompetent or dishonest and I'm not sure which is worse. We were told we received refund, credited to our bank account, but when we checked our account was actually debited the price difference, so in fact we were charged extra. We had to call and ask them to credit our account. This took a few days. I don't think there was dishonesty here, but certainly adds to the list of operational incompetence. The price adjustment fiasco occurred over a week previous to this writing, and we were notified yesterday that our new choice was on back order, for up to 3 months. Apparently we weren't enough of a priority as customers that we had to wait to hear that our purchase was once again delayed. Unacceptable. We called and were put on hold before we asked for a refund. If this is how their store works, I shudder to think how installation would go. Hopefully they will credit our account this time instead of charging us again to not have a carpet installed. Our experience is more disappointing than anything. We could have had our runners installed by now if we went with another company. I feel like is a business messed up this much, they should act culpable, but they don't. Great selection, knowledgeable salesperson, great installation team. Laura Cardinal really knows the inventory and knows how to listen and consult to get the best outcome. She asked good questions and was able to target possible selections without us wading forever in a sea of carpet samples. She is quality minded and cares about the customer being satisfied and getting what they are looking for. The selection in this store is huge - which is a great benefit. We went to two other carpet showrooms and the selection was not as varied. The installation team were expert and vacuumed before the install as well as after and left the place spotless. They arrived on time and worked like guys who had been doing this for 35 years - because they have been (Tom & Tom). read more

I bought carpet and padding from carpetmaster. they did not show up when scheduled someone came 3 hours late. i paid for new padding which they did not install. said i needed closest doors cut down even though salesman assured me this would not be necessary. i paid to have doors cut down and was reimbursed partially for carpeting DO NOT DO business with this company, You will be sorry read more

Carpet One's service and quality of workmanship is excellent. We have used them several times and have been more than satisfied.

I just had carpets installed today and yesterday. I'm extremely unsatisfied with the customer service I received. The installers were late both days. They arrived about 20 minutes after the one hour window arrival time I was given. I tried to hand the installers shoe covers and asked if they could possibly wear them on the new carpet and they flat out said no. I was given no explanation as to why they couldn't. They continued to wear their boots all over my new carpet. I'm currently pregnant and also have a toddler. I now have to call Stanley steamer to come steam by brand new carpets because they wore their shoes all through the babies rooms. Also, all of my trim was just painted last week and has to be repainted now because the installers marked it all up. I will not be doing business with carpet one in the future after this experience. read more

I had a different installer put in my bedroom carpeting and it's no where near as good of a job as Carpet One did in my family room and on my stairs. Live and learn. Jay, who does the stairs and specialty installation, did a particularly beautiful job. Both jobs by Carpet One were done very well, the seam in my family room disappeared as they assured me it would, and I LOVE the runner on my stairs. The jobs were completed professionally, the installers were friendly, and the rugs were thoroughly vacuumed afterwards to get any fuzz up. Laura Madelone was my sales person and it was like she could read my mind in terms of what I was looking for. I felt like we were old friends after spending a few minutes with her and she really listened before she showed me what she thought I was looking for - and she nailed it! Tamela was very great with the scheduling, as well. If you want a top quality job, go to Carpet One. You get what you pay for. read more

To be fair- I haven't actually BOUGHT anything from them yet, but I went in and found the sales staff (especially Bob) to be very knowledgeable and helpful. There was no pressure to buy, and he wasn't at all skeptical of my wanting to do the installation myself. They even let me sign out a bunch of samples to take home and see how I actually liked it in the room. read more

After the first terrible experience I should have not gone back again. But I did . The installer did not finish the job. I made an appointment to have it finished. The installer never showed up, it's been 4 hours wait. I called service rep and was told installer forgot. Then after I was told he would be there within the hour. Still no show. Called rep back and was told installer was here and he called me 3 times, for which none of this is the truth. I am done with this business. Although this situation was not as bad as my first experience, I give up. Nothing a little glue and nails won't fix. Poor customer service calling the customer a liar. Poor customer service not showing up for an appointment. Shame on this business. read more

Carpet installed today . The installers were very professional and Did a completely Wonderful job. They moved all my furniture for me and even wiped away cobwebs that I couldn't reach. The office for installers was great too. couldn't ask for better service. read more
