Recently we went back for another purchase. Paul was off that day so we ended up working with a sales representative by the name of Corliss and another employee (whose name I wish I could remember). That employee is the one that handles all of their cutting and binding. These two folks we extremely helpful and actually unrolled several types of carpet so we could get a better look at it. The binding fellow actually spent a considerable amount of time with us explaining different types of binding material and showing us different contrasting colors to go with the carpet we ended up selecting. It was actually very close to the end of his shift but he actually said he would stay late to be able to cut and bind our carpet while we waited so we would not have to make a second trip for a pickup. We highly recommend this business for their tremendous selection of carpeting and also for their absolutely outstanding customer service. They clearly want to be sure they have satisfied and, hopefully, return customers. Don't hesitate to give them a try.

But, the salesperson (Paul) was extremely helpful in explaining to us some of the options available and differences in product lines. We haven't bought anything yet (and they work on commission) but he seemed happy to just help us out whether we made a purchase or not. I also was told the approximate cost of a new version in this size and quality which helps me judge the value of my item. So far it's been a good business relationship.

We had made visits to the usual home improvement places (Home Depot's and Lowes), but this place blew them out of the water in terms of selection and service (and the prices are compatible too). We were greeted one morning by Mackenzie, who gave us extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable service. We knew what we wanted, but wanted to see all the options. And since this place had a lot, it took a little bit! But she kept us focused and didn't make us feel like jerks for being so "needy." :) She was also able to tell us that one of the manufacturers was coming out with another option for one of the things we wanted, next week. She showed us other colors produced by that manufacturer, and it turned out to be the best (potential) option yet. So I'm glad she was there to help us. They have a large, clean showroom with large tables to look at various combinations of tile. They have carpet and other things too, but we didn't venture over into those sections. MADE in the USA! The sales associate/design consultant I had was Paras Hilstro who was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. She answered all of my questions that day and later in several emails. I was allowed to borrow 10 fabric samples to take home which helped me make a decision. I was able to place my order by phone which was very good. My furniture was arrived at Bassett two weeks ahead of the projected date. It was delivered 6 days before Thanksgiving which was perfect since I was hosting for the holiday. The delivery was flawless from competence of delivery men to setting up the furniture. I highly recommend Bassett Furniture for quality and value. In addition, I highly recommend Design Consultant Paras Hilstro for her excellent service including knowledge of this furniture line.

First three installers left behind a large lump in the living room carpet, a sunken piece and four breaks in the hallway, and an untucked break in the bedroom. After complaining, they sent two different installers who did stretch out the living room carpet, but were not successful in repairing the hallway carpet. Then they sent a different installer to put in a new carpet in the hallway. That carpet looked like it was a different shade from the other carpeting. They sent a manager out who concluded that the carpeting in two bedrooms was put in at a different angle from the carpet in the hallway and remainder of the apartment. They offered to again replace the hallway carpet. And it still looks a different shade. Four different installers and two managers and I am left with a carpet that looks different from room to room and there are many visible breaks. I wish I had kept my old carpet. Had I been paying for this (instead of my apartment complex) I would be suing them in small claims court. I was told that they subcontract out their installers and that is why I saw four different installers.

Even when we had to track down some throw pillows that didn't make the shipment, Jan was on the case. Her consummate professionalism, patience, and humor is what made shopping for furniture a joy, rather than drudgery. As they say on television commercials, "ask for her by name." Even the best salesperson's finest efforts can end up being bitter if the crew delivering your purchases lack the knowledge and experience to do their job. Our two delivery personnel, Moses and Serieon, were the tip of the arrow of their profession. Getting everything we bought into the house and making it look as if it had always been there, while making it seem far less of an effort than it truly was, is the hallmark of a pair of professionals. When you're spending your hard-earned money on furniture, you expect a company to be upfront and honest about when you can expect to receive it. Apparently, that's asking too much. The biggest issue was the delivery scheduling. Their website advertised delivery dates that didn't match what I was being told by their employees. How can you advertise one thing online and then tell customers something completely different after they've placed an order? To make matters worse, trying to get the situation resolved was another headache. Instead of making things right, the entire experience felt like one inconvenience after another. I understand that delivery schedules can change. What I don't understand is the lack of clear communication and the misleading expectations. Customers shouldn't have to chase down answers or waste their time trying to figure out when their furniture will actually arrive. *Bob's needs to understand that customer service doesn't end once they have your money.* A good price means very little when the buying experience is this frustrating. I would seriously think twice before purchasing from Bob's again. The furniture might be discounted, but apparently, so is the customer service.
