    These awful stickers were left on 8 of our stairs and they are not easy to peel off. Poor presentation.

    Last week we crossed one more bridge that we had not encountered in home ownership before-buying new flooring. I can't say it was fun but we are very happy with the end result of our crummy carpet gone and our new floors looking beautiful. We went with Carpet Exchange and while I am satisfied with the end result I can't really gush about the experience. Pros: ~The showroom is large and has a good representation of options. We were overwhelmed at first but narrowed down our choices fairly easily. ~This is one of only a few places that offer the flooring we wanted-Coretec. They have experience with the material while most retailers a) have never heard of it or b) don't carry it or c) offer it but have not sold much. ~The installers were friendly ~They offer financing, which was necessary for us considering the cost of redoing our whole house. ~They price matched with an online retailer for us. This is something others refused to do (same exact product). Cons: ~While shopping and considering options the salespeople throw out numbers like, "$___ per sq foot" and we thought we had a good idea of what we were going to have to spend but by the end, the estimate has MANY other add-ons and costs that were never mentioned. ~For the money we spent (5 figures), we did not feel like the salesperson really pursued the sale. We were the ones calling to follow up on when the tech was coming to measure, when our estimate would be done, confirming pricing and patterns, etc. We expected to be dodging sales calls left and right but the only calls we received were in response to messages we left. Honestly, we would have gone elsewhere but did not feel like starting over. Take our money, please!!!! ~Was the install flawless? No. The caulking around the base boards was pretty sloppy, horrendous stickers were left on the stair caps (I blame the manufacturer for this but it does not make for a great presentation when left on by the installers either). By this point, we were just exhausted with the whole process and not willing to complain. We just wanted it complete and details be damned. Overall, we are happy with our choices and moreover, glad the process it over. Perhaps this is everyone's experience in buying new flooring, no matter where you go? Would we go back to Carpet Exchange? Maybe....

    Installer wanted to leave space between wall and floor to accommodate any expansion. The space was supposed to be hidden under the baseboard

    Let me share with you my experience,…read more Walter their salesman came out to give me a bid Once he found out that Home Depot had done the estimate already, he just used the amount of boxes which was about 80 for the estimate. He did no measuring or anything else. He was gone in about 10 minutes. (I needed only labor as I was purchasing the material from Home Depot.) Once we agreed on Price to have all the existing solid wood baseboard, removed the new floor put down and the baseboard put back. I agreed to the job. Pricing; I agreed on 50% down and 50% when the job was completed to maintain some control of the final product I'm very glad I did this. Their policy is to get 100% upfront, which I never recommend anyone for any service, ever do. The very next day after agreeing on terms with Walter, I got a call asking for 100% of the money I told this lady that's not what we agreed to and she said well that's what we normally do and I said you better call Walter. I'm gonna cancel the job. She did came back excepted 50% Overall, the subcontractors that came out from a company called Sun sunshine floors did a pretty good job putting in the material But it's the follow up , putting doors back on , getting trim put back on that was a real headache and took me almost 30 days to get done and also a threat of a complaint to get what I considered to be a very reasonable discount about $370 off my bill In the end, I fixed the existing problems myself because it was too much of a headache after they finally agreed to give me the discount Finally, a reminder again if you use this company, do not pay 100% upfront you'll have no control over the job over anything that needs to get fixed and you'll be working on their timetable, while they have all your money ------- Part 2 It's smart that Kelly took down her first knee jerk response to my above comment since is was inaccurate and not well researched. "Telling me I agreed not to leave public comment in agreement for the discount" -that was true if you accepted my generous offer.... the first go round. I'm going to guess that she finally got around to actually reading.... the 2nd email with my threat to file a complaint with yelp. Poof.....gone and replaced with boiler plate sorry we messed up and we should have done better. " Kelly, I wish you would have taken seriously my first initial complaint to your company and really taken the time to call me and find out what happened, Sincerely apologize, accept my generous offer and maybe even go a bit farther to make me happy and satisfied, If you had done so, we wouldn't be having this stupid engagement in the first place. Even after all that, I do hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

    We've purchased carpet from Sloane's twice before so they were our go to when it was time to…read morerecarpet 3 more rooms. They have three racks of carpet samples: plush, textured and a flat pile. They also have other types of flooring. We chose a plush carpet and some really good pad and Brett wrote up our order. He sent our phone number to an installer named Chris who was supposed to call us in a day or two to schedule coming out to measure. When I didn't hear from him for 4 days I called him. He said he couldn't get into his email and didn't know that he was supposed to call. But he did come out a few days later to measure and again a week later to measure the third room that was missed on his first visit (hubby's fault). Being that it was only 3 days before our scheduled install I was definitely nervous. Brett called us two days before install to say they didn't have enough of our chosen carpet and offered the options of choosing a different carpet, doing less area, or getting our full deposit back and not getting carpet. We opted for getting a different carpet so we made that drive up north once again. The morning of our install Chris called to say he couldn't make it but would send his brothers. We had spent days getting the rooms ready - taking out all the stuff in the closets (up to 3 feet off the floor), emptying shelves, and basically removing everything but the heavy furniture. So of course I said ok to having substitute installers. They turned out to be very good and got the job done in one day. So far everything looks great And they only missed one night stand when putting the furniture back. So Sloane's will continue to be our go to for new carpet.
