Grilled Goat Cheese Salad - very good
Becci S.

Good food. Fast service. A little noisy. And a little chili because they keep the front door open.

Eric S.

During our weeklong Parisian stay, this place was the most delicious, beautiful and romantic place. Being bilingual in Spanish and English, and having studied French in school, I like to think I speak enough to barely get my point across. And, I like to think it impresses my boyfriend when I can order and carry on a conversation in French. Anyways, at the end of an extremely long day, my French goes to ish. Our server was so kind and hospitable. The food, the wine and the chocolate mousse... everything was so delicious. The entire restaurant/bar is lit only by candlelight at night. I cannot wait to go back here!

Breast of duck with raisins, Jerusalem artichokes and mushrooms. Yum!!

Made this our first meal in Paris and oh my goodness were the star ratings off. Pickled olives and fresh sliced baguette as soon as you sit down. Ordered the Poelee de St. Jacques et champignons couche (Pan-fried scallops with mushrooms) as our starter. It was cooked to perfection. For my entree, I chose the Magret de canard roti aux raisins, topinambours et champignons (Breast of duck with raisins, Jerusalem artichokes, and mushrooms). What a dish! So flavorful and delicious. My husband had the Souris d'agneau aux figues et amandes (Lamb shank with figs and almond). I'm not usually a fan of lamb, but it was fall-off-the-bone-tender with very little gaminess. The flavor combination was fantastic- best lamb shank I've ever tasted. We finished the meal with the Mousse au chocolate a discretion (Chocolate mousse has discretion). They served it out of a huge metal mixing bowl. It was rich and thick as if bits of chocolate cake had been mixed into it. Mouth watering as I write this. The ambience was candle-lit and romantic. The service was great. Helpful when needed, but they don't bother or rush you. 'Tis the European way. I was expecting a $100 tab with the decadence we were served. We had beer and wine as well, but the bill came out to 67 Euro. Tax included with no gratuity?! What a deal!!! Worried the Carpe Diem Cafe may have set the bar too high for our first meal in Paris, but if it has, we'll definitely be back! IMHO, this was not a four star restaurant as rated by Yelp, but five solid stars all the way.

Our family of 4 enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The food was well prepared and delicious & the staff were kind and helpful. We plan to return for lunch because we were super exited to have the chocolate mousse, but it was late when we came for dinner so they were sold out. Nice dinner music and beautiful surroundings. My daughter loved the duck & my husband really enjoyed the beef tourmalines. The desserts were amazing! We highly recommend this cafe

Duck breast in cranberry sauce - super yummy!

Be sure to show up only after 7:30pm if you are here for dinner... Walked in around 7pm, waited a long while and starved to death. But the duck breast in cranberry sauce is totally worth all the wait

Complimentary pretzel and olives

I love every single thing about this place. Service is great, the place is so nicely decorated and romantic. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We order duck breast with raisins and beef tournados . Everything was perfect, including complimentary olives & pretzel, french baguette !!!

Banana desert was incredible and you won't regret this lovely taste in your mouth!

The food was delicious. The service was glacial even for Paris when the restaurant wasn't crowded.

So the little red door has a cute red door but the bouncer lets you in through another door (novelty observed haha). The man takes your jacket and umbrella (what a gentleman!) and sat us on the second floor. While the space between the couch and the seats were rather small, we were able to manage. I got the permaculture and resilience. The resilience is a club favorite and my favorite too! The way the sorghum, pineapple sage (syrup), pasquet cognac, and savanna rum all tied together was a blessing. I was going to get a third but I was tipsy by my second drink. My first drink was the permaculture and while I was considered it would be strong, it didn't seem strong to me. I love clarified dairy in alcohol so this was a win in my book. It consists of chestnut, butter, wakaze umeshu, avallen Calvados. The bar let's you stay for an hour but if you sit elsewhere, you can stay as long as you want. 5 stars and I hope to come back someday!

From the valet and door staff to the hostess, maitre d and elegant servers the service could not have been much finer. Including coat check from the table and lounge settee with chairs. The bar appears to be full of whatever you would like but a signature cocktail menu that reads like a beautiful coffee table book is given to everyone. The drinks with names like Corn, Apple, etc are given to elaborate cocktails that are crafted with multiple layers of ingredients. Seems weird but everyone loved theirs and we all shared sips. I highly recommend that here if you are familiar with your companions. Call your banker first as $30 per drink is average! But the girl I raised bought it so whatever? Wish I photographed that menu!! Service is bright with ample and thoughtful olive and nuts assortments and water backs for all without asking. For a splurge I could not urge enough of you to try!! Seeing this hotel property alone is worth it right down to the gilded bathrooms excellently attended. We did not try the food as they were just about to convert to first dinner service and we had Xmas Eve dinner for the family booked at a different Michelin star restaurant later. I'll bet the food is the shizzle though!!!

Pro tip- They open at 5 pm so get there 10-15 minutes before to stand in line. We got there at 4:45 and there were several people ahead of us.
