I visited Coffee Etc. recently for an afternoon pick-me-up. Since this shop is close to my house,…read moreand everything they have is so good, it is one that I find myself coming back to time after time. Coffee Etc. is a locally-owned coffee shop located in the heart of Castle Shannon. It is near well-known places such as Ice Castle and just down the hill from Myrtle Elementary. They serve traditional and artisan coffees and teas, along with an extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items. There is always a selection of desserts and pastries on the counter as well. It is right along the T line, so it is easy to get to both by vehicle and public transit. There is not a private parking lot, but there are spaces along the street out front, as well as ample Street parking options around and behind the building. I have never had to park too far away when making a stop here, often securing a space right in front. The shop has both indoor and outdoor seating options. There are two-person and four-person tables that surround the front entrance. Inside, there are low-top tables, high-top tables and couches to choose from. On the weekends, it can be packed in here in terms of seating. I usually am able to find a table, but just be aware in case you are coming during a peak time! Overall, the vibe is a comfy and cozy cafe. It is warm, inviting, and makes you want to hang out for awhile. I always love the in-progress puzzle that sits at the counter where drinks are handed out. You can contribute a little bit to the work-in-progress in your idle moments waiting for your order to be ready. It is also fun to see what puzzle will be there the next time you visit. Something cool about this place is their dedication to their faith. They have free Bibles available for visitors, and they host different Bible studies and groups throughout the week. On this day, I visited around 1:45 PM on a Wednesday in September. It was not very busy, but there were other patrons in the shop. I took a moment to look at the monthly specials on the board outside, and made my way in to order a drink. The staff here are always so friendly and kind, and so it is no surprise that I was promptly greeted when entering. I was between a few of the drinks, but I ended up deciding on the Kettle Corn Iced Latte, since that is not a flavor you see everyday for coffees. As it was not busy at this time, I only waited a minute or so from the time I placed my order to when I had the drink in-hand. My drink was very good! I loved the unique flavor of the Kettle Corn, as I had never had that in a coffee before this latte. I truly have never had a bad drink or food item from here, and this visit was no different. They have so many different flavors and sauces to choose from, you will surely find one to your liking. I typically get one of the features/seasonal drinks, but you are able to customize any which way you want. Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing here, so I have to mention them in this review as well. I did not get one on this visit, but they are made-to-order and the quality is top-notch. There are several sandwiches on the menu, but you can also customize your own. I recommend getting the Chipotle Raspberry Jam on whatever sandwich you choose. It is wonderful! Plus, the sandwiches come with a little cookie as a sweet ending to your meal. The pricing here is on-par with what you would expect from a local coffee shop. I am usually spending between $6 and $7, depending on the size. I will typically get a custom sandwich, which starts at $7.50. It is not off-base with what you would expect for a local shop. I do feel the value is there, since everything is so tasty and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. I always love coming to Coffee Etc, and I highly recommend you give it a try if you are in the area or are thinking about stopping. The atmosphere, homemade sandwiches, variety of drinks, and the cozy vibes keep me coming back time and time again. Plus, they are always having new and seasonal drinks to try, so there will always be something different to enjoy.

Coffee choices what you'd expect in a coffee shop but the food was great. I had the breakfast havarti guacamole sandwich and it was delicious. Most recently, I visited Central Coffee Shop on a Thursday morning this past September. I was…read moredropping my dog off at daycare in Elizabeth, and went a little out of my way to work to make the trip here for a morning coffee. Central Coffee Shop is a cozy neighborhood cafe located in Elizabeth, specifically in the Swiss Alpine Village. The shopping complex is right off of Scenery Drive, and houses several different offices and small businesses. It is locally owned and operated. The business offers different coffees, teas, lemonades, pastries, and many locally made treats. Additionally, the interior houses a gift shop area called Central Gifts and Home Decor. There is a lot going on in this unsuspecting place, but in the best way. Parking here is always very easy. Since this is in a complex, there is a private parking lot and spaces right in front. There is no drive-thru, if you were looking for that. However, it is so quick to get in and out with the very optimal parking arrangement. The exterior of the shop is very clearly marked and identifiable. It is painted blue, while the surrounding storefronts are yellow. There is also an awning, along with signage and lighted signs. You will be able to locate this easily. The inside of the cafe is large. There is a lot of seating, including a bar area, tables of various sizes, and more cozy seats surrounding a fireplace. Also, there are a few outdoor tables to utilize in nicer weather. This would be an ideal coffee shop to come to with friends, for a meeting, or just to leisurely enjoy an afternoon with all of the seating options. Overall, I love the vibes here. It is comfy, cozy, and welcoming. They are always decorated for the season or the next holiday. They have real mugs, and lots of different gifts and trinkets to shop through. It really is a warm and welcoming place you want to hang out at. I arrived on this visit just before 8:00 AM, and it was not too busy. There were a few other customers there, but I was waited on rather quickly. It gave me a few minutes to look over the menu, including the seasonal feature drinks. I opted for one of the seasonal lattes. I chose a Large Iced Woodstock Woods, which was a mix of brown sugar, maple, and cinnamon. I enjoyed it greatly! It was a perfect taste of fall without diving completely into pumpkin just yet. The large size is a very nice portion, and allowed me to enjoy my drink all morning long. When I visit, I usually opt for one of the seasonal drinks. If not, I will get one of their several house-made or sugar free flavor options. I truly have never had a drink I did not like here, so I would recommend trying different things if you are open to it! I did not get one on this visit, but their Pup Cups here are top-notch. My dog absolutely loves them, as they come with whipped cream and a dog treat. I believe that the value is there for this shop. My latte was around $7, and this is on-par with other local spots. I will say that the size of their large is bigger than a lot of other places, which makes it all that better of a deal. Personally, I think everything here is both fairly price and comparable to other places around. Also, they offer a punch card program for the drinks. So, you can get a punch for each drink purchased to eventually earn one free. They are one of the few local coffee places I am aware of that offer this, which is a huge plus. The staff here is simply the best. Whether it's the owners or some of their student employees, everyone is always so nice. They make you want to keep coming back and supporting the business. This is one of the highlights of stopping here for me! I always love coming to Central Coffee Shoppe. Between the plethora of options, gift shop, welcoming atmosphere and wonderful staff, there is a lot going for this place. I do not live super close, but make it a point to stop any time I am over this way. I look forward to my next visit and getting to try whatever seasonal drink is on the menu.

We've now had breakfast/lunch items here I believe 4 times. Everything we've had has been good,…read morebut I will caution. It's a bit pricey. You could get the same things elsewhere for a good bit cheaper...but the quality is good. That is the only reason we keep going back. Good, but at the end of the day, it is honestly priced too high. Plus, a lot of the stuff you would think would come "with" a side, don't--and require you to add it on. Good service! Have not had any issues with that, and have found servers to all be helpful and pleasant. It has been consistently clean, and it seems like the newer owners of the building take pride in making sure it is kept well. Our go to's so far have been any of the breakfasts, with my personal favorite being the Eggs Benedict. If you're a pancake or french toast eater, you will like their offerings. My family swears by the wraps and burgers. Definitely worth trying, just make sure you go in knowing about the pricing and add-on's.

The staff have discussed with customers that their paychecks aren't even clearing the bank. There's now a 10 year old kid working there (aren't there laws against that??) It needs shut down, the IRS need to go in there and get the employees taken care of, the health department needs to handle the unsanitary conditions, and they need to start over.

If you're not starting with a quality product you're not going to get a quality end product. If I'm treating myself, I really like when the drinks are special and thoughtful, and they are always thinking through the menu with a rotating selection of interesting, often themed drinks that offer something for every taste. I love how they partner with other local businesses including 19 Coffee Company, Pastries A La Carte, and Becca Bakes. In addition to these pastries there are some light bites such as sandwiches available. They have space to feature some local makers of things like jewelry and once I even bought a little painting created by a dog here to support the dog's medical treatment. That's the kind of local establishment you're dealing with and it's why I love them. All of this and I haven't even gotten to how cozy this place is. The decor is thoughtful with lots of room to sit and work or relax. There's a little book nook area, an outdoor patio, and spaces by the window where you can people watch out Brookline Blvd. The people are always super nice. It's a great choice for your neighborhood coffee shop.
