Cool atmosphere right on Duval. We had a couple of cocktails which were all great. We just went for appetizers, so can't comment on dinner. Seared ahi tuna and bruschetta were great. ABSOLUTLY THE BEST!! We had lunch at Caroline's Café on our last day in Key West. The location is right on Duvall, so we had a perfect spot to people watch. Our server- Chris, was amazing. He made some great suggestions for our lunch, plus he was willing to ask our questions about the restaurant and the area. Our lunch was delicious. We started with the conch fritters. They were so delicious; my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Then for our entrée, I had the jambalaya and my daughter had the Cuban- both were so good. Throughout our lunch we enjoyed several glasses of their sweet tea (it is perfect). Our experience was so good that we went back for dinner! Of course I had to have the conch fritters again (they really are amazing). For our main entrees, I had the club sandwich and my daughter had the fettuccini with blackened chicken- again both entrees were delicious. If you are in Key West for one day or longer you need to go to Caroline's Café. I am confident that you will enjoy every moment and every bite of your meal. it was nice ambienece , outside seating with plenty of big and small fans to beat the HEAT! outside seating (plenty) we are greeted bu the hostess and as we are walking to the table the manager came up to my kids and said hi and did tricks with them !! A+ ... nice touch ... immediately had the waitress come and say hi and take our drink order... got the conch fritters for appetizer and they we good but for entrees got the fish sandwhich for my hubby and the shrimp po boy for myself.... First time visiting key west, two of my friends and i were starving and didn't know where to go for dinner..came across Caroline's, read the menu and immediately was sold. We had the conch for an appetizer, and my friends and i shared the grilled shrimp and bacon club and blackened chipotle chicken sandwich. Food was DELICIOUS, our waitress Cara..SWEET, friendly, knowledgeable with everything on the menu and infectious smile. Nice restaurant located on Duval street where all the action, stores and over crowded tourists hang. This place was cute and had a good variety on the menu and had some great Yelp reviews. Was here with some friend and there kids and the outside atmosphere along with the picnic tables seemed perfect. Our waitress Amy was pleasant and let us know of some other great restaurants that served oysters since they didn't have any. We ordered conch fritters as the appetizer and although they had good flavor I felt they went a little to easy on the conch so it was mostly veggies and dough. My friend and I both ordered the famous fried chicken sandwich and both had the same impressions, to fried and lacking flavor, although the lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce were good. My friends husband and son both had the jambalaya and that was really good, my love had the grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich which he devoured and said was really really good (he would definitely come back and order the same thing) but the best dish in my opinion was my friends daughters dish. She ordered the blackened chicken pasta and man I could've used my fingers to get every last taste of the sauce alone but that dish was on point. Love you Caroline, after all the walking around Duval, the drinking anda hot cocoa (that didn't go well on my tummy but it was a cold Winter day in the keys) we were on the hunt for a dinner spot and Yelp said you guys were A OK.... I loved our waitress and we were seated quickly, they had handy little heaters on the top of the picnic style table to keep us warm. Super casual spot & they have full bar if you just want to sit and have a few bites to eat, perfect spot. It's located on the quieter part of Duval, but there is still a lot of people walking around, good for people watching. I ate a wonderful Portabello burger with some tasty fries and a big pickle...yummy. The hubs had a fresh mahi mahi sandwich as well as my bro in law....they both loved it. The plates were huge and as much as I wanted to try to the key lime I couldn't...next time Caroline, keep up the good work and fresh food. Prices are also reasonable. Caroline's is right on Duval street in the middle of all the action with shaded outdoor seating (plus big fan misters), which made for great people watching. The menu here is quite extensive with lots of options. I got the Chicken Broccolini pasta and it was super delicious. It was penne pasta in a Parmesan & Romano sauce, chicken, and broccoli. Probably one of the cheesiest pasta dishes I've ever had(and who doesn't love cheese). So creamy and delicious. The portion was massive, and as bad as I wanted to devour the whole thing I didn't even come close. We also had a couple coupons from walking around earlier in the day for free key lime pies. I was assuming they would only accept one but they brought us two free pies, which was really nice. The pie was fluffy and not too tart. I love good pie crusts and this one could have been a little thicker. Our server was friendly enough. She goofed up our check and had an extra sandwich added on but she fixed it right away. I wish I could say that the Shrimp Club sandwich that was recommended to me was delicious. I cannot. Not because it wasn't but because I don't know. Let me tell you why.... After searching long and hard on our bikes for a Colombian place that we saw on yelp, we couldn't bring ourselves to eating there because we took a look at the menu and bolted. I am sorry, I am NOT paying $20 for a Bandeja Paisa that I can get anywhere in Miami for $8 - $12. Considering that meal is a very humble dish, shame on you for charging premium for it. But I digress, we left not having a clue as to where to eat and what was good. Of course we ended up not liking one place or another, and ended up shopping in Fairville for about 1 1/2 hours, by then we were FAMISHED. We asked the guys that worked there what they would recommend and the Shrimp Club at Caroline's was top on their list. We headed over, looked at the menu and talked about the options because they all look pretty darn good. I wavered for a second and commented to my hubby that I had never tried a Po' Boy and they had a shrimp one. Ok so I was too hungry, I should have never even looked at it because if you know me, you know I am NO fan of ANYTHING breaded and fried. I told my hubby I wanted the Shrimp Club so if she came to take the order he could tell her since I was going to the ladies room. Our food comes, and I am ready to chew the table I was so hungry. The waitress places a Po'Boy in front of me. I look at my hubby and say "DUDE! Did you order the Po' Boy????" His look and apology should be enough for anyone to forgive but I was NOT a happy camper. He offered his sandwich in exchange, but he ordered a battered and fried fish sandwich. I ate in silence, and I did eat it because I was so hungry. Anyone can make that mistake, but you don't screw with mama's food when mama is that hungry. So. I had my first Po' Boy. For what it was, it was good although it could have used more spicy sauce. I really liked Caroline's. The food was generous in serving size and we had one of the most friendly and cheerful waiter's known to man. There were a few things, however, that I didn't like so much. The level of cleanliness could be debated. The tables just felt sticky and tacky to the touch, pigeons were all over the place (which I understand, it's an outdoor space, hard to control), and overall, it just felt a little bit grungy. Also, the fans, while awesomely appreciated due to the heat, made it really hard to actually get food from the plate, to the fork to the mouth without something flying off either in your lap, on your face or perhaps into the personal space of your neighbor. Not sure how that can be addressed given that the fans are a total necessity given the heat. What makes up for that is definitely the quality of the food. It was really good. JT's chicken quesadilla was very over-stuffed and he said it was a really well-made and tasty dish. The only problem he found with it was that it was difficult to eat given the over-stuffed nature...so while he wanted to pick it up and eat it like a slice of pizza ... it was a little too messy. My very tasty Southwest Salad was awesome. Loads of toppings, great dressing, yummy grilled chicken. I was torn when ordering because they also had a really delicious sounding Maple Bacon salad with Fried Chicken...even thinking about it now makes my mouth water...and if I were to go back, I'd definitely try it. However, my salad didn't disappoint and the tall cool glass of pink lemonade that I ordered definitely hit the spot as well. read more

Our waiter was to say the least, a smart ass. He was snippy from the getgo. The tip we left in two tips was overall 15% one bill was $100 which left 10%. The other $100 was tipped at 20%. We stopped by for a local specialty - conch fritters - and a shrimp po boy sandwich. It was a bit difficult to decipher the tastes and ingredients in the fritters. I'd suggest the po boy. We ate here 3 times on our visit to Key West and i love this place. For me, i love to eat outside in a casual setting and get quality food without the high prices. Caroline's delivers on all this. Being slightly raised off the street level makes it a great place for people watching as well. Over the 3 visits, I had the shrimp po boy (lots of shrimp and a terrific light batter), Cuban sandwich (bacon, ham and smoked pulled pork thats as tender as it gets....) and Blackened fish sandwich (nice spice and fresh taste to it)....as well as Key Lime pie (a nice variation as its very light and fluffy but has all the flavor of traditional key lime pie) and conch fritters (i ate them at several places and my family and i agreed that Caroline's were the best). The staff were on top of their game...this is a busy place but the waiters never forgot us and kept coming back to refill sodas, deliver another beer... and ask if everything was to our liking. If you're going to Key West, you should try this place...we really enjoyed it and im sure you will too. read more

Extremely disappointed and confused by other recommenders. Perhaps it was a bad day on the kitchen staff, but unable to agree with the other 4 and 5 star ratings. Dolphin fingers seem to be nothing more than your typical frozen fish sticks. Caroline's Famous Fish Sandwich tasted exactly the same as the dolphin fingers did. Curious if the same type of fish is used in both dishes (don't order both if you do decide to dine here at least). The Rev's Joe Burger wasn't "The Best" in my opinion, but who's giving that rating anyways (someone must be biased to say the least). Medium temperature ordered comes out more like Medium-Well and even with the addition of Blue Cheese crumbles, the taste was off. The American (Traditional) + Seafood cuisine of the restaurant is missing the tasty cuisine. Service overall was decent, though would think twice about the recommendations given the above recommended items to us. In all honesty, I'd pass this larger, high-traffic restaurant up and seek out a smaller one with a more a specialized menu. Key West has a number of them! Watch out for roaming, begging pigeons that roam the floor seeking out your tasteless crumbs. read more
