I truly enjoy this Carmine's location. Trinidad and Dante are my guys, and I always look forward to sitting at the bar, chatting with them, and enjoying a meal. They consistently offer excellent recommendations, and the manager on duty is always professional, attentive, and clearly on point. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite Carmine's restaurants. Many people say Times Square is always busy, but when you take a moment to slow down in one of the busiest places in the world, you can still make a genuine connection with people. That sense of connection is what keeps bringing me back to this Carmine's, and Maso is part of what makes the experience so special. read more

Carmine's was one of the highlights of our trip to New York City! We brought my 83-year-old mom, who uses a mobility scooter, and the staff made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The restaurant has a lively, classic New York atmosphere that's perfect for families and groups. Our server was friendly, attentive, and the service was incredibly fast, even though the restaurant was busy. The portions are huge and meant for sharing, which made our meal even more fun. What a fun restaurant and close to Times square. It was packed on a Friday night, glad we made a reservation for 13 and they were able to accommodate us. There were large parties and a party going on, a murder mystery dinner with people dressed in outfits from the 1920s. The ambiance is great, cool chandelier lighting and old photos and plenty of nostalgia and history. Family style Italian food, you get plenty to eat. The staff was nice, quick, attentive, happy to take a group photo, and sing happy birthday and bring out a treat. We tried some of their bread, caprese salad, and another salad, calamari, clams, pasta, meatballs, a chicken dish, and a few other items. It was fantastic. First off, the homemade bread is next-level. On my most recent visit, I tried the rigatoni with sausage and broccoli based on our waiter's recommendation, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I would recommend finding somewhere else to get Italian in the city. This was pretty bland and essentially a fancy looking Olive Garden. Calamari - share the calamari, very well done with great dipping sauce and a large generous amount. Zucchini is also a great shareable dish with a large amount to go around. Ceasar Salad, I could probably pass on salad for another dish, but for salad lovers, go for it. Porterhouse Steak this is a must order, best entree on the menu and when paired with other dishes is enough for 6 people to share. Amazing time for sharing food with everyone you know. This place is packed, so you have to make a reservation, and the tables are packed together pretty tightly, but the art deco posters and the jazzy oldies add for a great old school Italian vibe. Dishes are all served family-style with huge portions for 2-4. We did ask for a bread basket, which had an array of plain white, cheesy, and marinara topped bread. The chicken parmesan was sliced really then and covered with a generous layer of mozzarella. We paired with broccoli, which was sauteed and super garlicy. Both were more than plenty for two people. We planned on having leftover parm, but it was too delicious. We saw another table with the Titanic dessert, and we were jealous but too stuffed. Maybe next time! Do we eat before the show or after? It's the all important question for theatergoers. We decided, since our show was at 7pm with no intermission, we would order the food to be picked up after the show. We ordered the Veal Scaloppini with Lemon and Butter, and the Rigatoni Country Style. We went into a side door which was great so we didn't have to deal with the crowds. Carmine's is always crowded. Beware of the huge portions as it's family style. The meats aren't as big, but delicious. I love the ambiance of the dark woods and steeps up and down the little sections, so your party can feel like it's private. If you've never eaten here, go. Does it have the best red sauce Italian food in NYC? No. Does it still have the best prices for giant platters? Maybe. Is it still a beautiful rustic looking restaurant that gives your guests the best Godfather vibes? Yes! Remember! Come with a group is my best advice. For me, the Fried Calamari is a must order at this place, though you need at least six eaters to finish the whole thing. Chicken Parm is very solid too. Way too much pasta, but I did enjoy the Penne alla Vodka. Everything else was alright, just not sure they are great deals anymore, especially the Baled Clams. I don't come here often and that's for good reason. However, give the restaurant its due respect for the purpose it serves - a decently priced meal for a large group in the middle of Time Square possibly rushing to catch a Broadway show. If you do not have a reservation, it would be really hard to get into this place on a weekend and prob most nights. The restaurant is bustling with people and workers alike. It's very loud and hard to hold conversations at the table, but the food is delicious. We grabbed dinner in between Broadway shows and it was delicious. We had an event in carmines at a private room with 200+ people. Which I was so shocked because I had no idea that Carmines would be able to accommodate. Definitely a great spot for anyone planning a huge party, will keep this place in mind for my baby's parties. The food was served all family style, we got a plate for our section of the table about 6 people. Which I think it was not enough food. Every plate was cleared so fast. Although we attend many Broadway shows, this restaurant somehow had never been on our radar -- but we're glad we found it. We had a 7:00 PM curtain and chose this spot partly because of its reputation for getting theatergoers in and out efficiently. Our reservation was for 5:30 PM, though we were not seated until about 6:00 PM, so I would recommend allowing at least two hours before showtime just to be safe. Once seated, however, the evening flowed seamlessly. Service was prompt and professional, cocktails arrived quickly (and were excellent), and the food did not disappoint. We shared the Italian salad and a pasta entrée -- both were delicious, and the portions were enormous. We ended up leaving about half. Total bill for three, including tip, was around $180, which felt like a very good value given the quality, portions, and Midtown location. A great spot for a big group dinner - Carmine's accommodated our crazy table of 16 dancers! Family style is the way to go for a large party. They start you out with free bread which is always a plus. To drink, I had the Bella Rosa and it was OUTSTANDING - probably the highlight of my meal. There were a lot of "meat" items at the table so my one vegetarian and I were unfortunately stuck with very few options - the Penne Vodka and the Eggplant Parmesan (oh and a green salad). I love Italian food and this restaurant is Italian food heaven. The service here is phenomenal because the waiter is always attentive and periodically checks on you to see how things are going. Usually I get penne alla vodka pasta with grilled shrimp. I thoroughly enjoy the chicken parm with Cesar Salad as well. I've had the garlic bread with cheese and baked clams before. The place had a very vintage atmosphere with all the black and white pictures hanged up all over the restaurant. Our waiter Chen was very helpful by giving us a handful of suggestions based on what our preferences are. He also informed us that the whole restaurant is family style so everything should be shared. Caesar Salad($32.95)- I would say this is one of the best Caesar salads I ever had, everything from the richness of the dressing to the cheesy croutons were very good. The slight anchovy taste was also a nice surprise. Chicken Saltimbocca($38.95)- I would have preferred the chicken thighs over chicken breast since it was dry. The sauce was a little bitter and the spinach added a little earthiness to the dish. Shrimp Parmigiana($45.95)- Nicely breaded jumbo shrimp that was served over a light marinara sauce and covered with a layer of mozzarella cheese. Little Frankie Blue Eyes($8.00)- Very tasty non alcoholic drink with blueberry, pineapple, ginger beer and soda that was not overly sweet. I would suggest trying this place as a group because family style is a lot of food and this way you can try a variety of dishes. If you go here, get the cheesy bread appetizer before your meal. If you didn't get it when you were there, go back now, like right now and get it, it's that good! Presented on a 3/4 Cookie sheet with about 8 pieces of Italian bread smothered in melting cheese, garlic and other spices. The highlight of the meal, really. The wife snd I shared ONE dish of the chicken Parmesan and we had over half a plate let over, it was really big. The parm was tender and the sauce was Carmine's own recipe of fresh sauce and spices. Love this place while we are in New York as it never disappoints.
