Blow out. Less than 1000 miles with new car!
Gina R.

I have gotten the last 4 family cars at Carmax but this last one will be the last one. I got my car because my previous one was totaled and I had a quick turn around. It was raining the night I got my new car. Everything looked good. Next day I notice tires are very worn. Take to my mechanic and he says I need new tires. I go to discount tire and they say I need new tires. So since my car is under 30 day take back no issues I go back to CarMax to tell them about my tires. They say yes they are low but it passes inspection so nothing they will do. I just paid $28k for a new car and now I need to pay another $1k for tires. So I wait until summer. Dont even make it 4 weeks and less than 1000 miles and I have a blow out going 80. Luckily nothing happened but it could have been a lot worse. I know I could have got another car when they said they would do nothing about the tires but I took the easier way out as not to start the process all over again. And it really cost me. So check it all out before you pay. Go see your own mechanic. Carmax doesn't care about your safety!

The only downside was being put on hold for half an hour to get my appointment sent. Otherwise service was excellent once I got my appointment set! The front desk people were really nice and the appraiser was very fast. They do a contactless appraisal by asking you to open all the doors and scanning your VIN number on the side door panel. Everything went very smoothly and I was happy with the amount of time everything took. They had an offer on paper out to me within one hour of when I arrived. Great experience .. hope they get their phone lines under control.

My experience with this location was so horrible that I had no choice but to share. I had been searching for a car for about two weeks when I went to the Arlington location. They suggested that I go onto their website and maybe find something in my price range there. So I did and sure enough I found something. It was a 2019 Kia Optima. To start the buying process, it suggested that I get pre-approved. Not knowing what to put in as a down payment I put $100. I was approved for this $15 thousand dollar car for only $100. down. As you can imagine I was excited. I contacted the Plano location to verify everything and it was a go. They called me back to schedule my appointment later that day. When I got off work 11/20 I called them to make sure everything was a go. They assured me along with my documents all I needed was $100.00 down. Well, I got there 20 minutes early. They immediately passed me off to 3 different salesmen. I submitted my documents, got the keys to test drive. I immediately fell in love with the car. He said that he was having the car cleaned while we finished the application, which we did. He walked away and after a few minutes returned with my documents. Just as I was about to hand him my debit card, he got up and said that he was going to tell them to pull the car around. When he returned he said that that they needed more on the down payment. I told him no that that was not the agreement and I had already signed the contract. He walked away again and returned saying the same thing. He then turned his computer on and attempted to show me other cars. Heart break began to stir up in me. I told him that I had drove over an hour to their location coming from Fort Worth and that I had talked to them several times to make sure that I had everything that was required to leave in that car. I told him that they had lied to me and was trying to pull a "bait and switch" on me. They lead me out there believing that I was going to drive away in that car only for me to get there, get baited, and then try to sell me something else. I did't argue, I just got up and walked away trying to fight back the tears until i got in my daughters car and cried in disappointment all the way back to Fort Worth Finally, I went onto their website today 11/25 and that car is still there for the same price and it is still listed to be sold with as little as $100 down. The man that I dealt with was a liar, deceitful, and a scammer, and the saddest part of this whole night is that he was very comfortable with what he did and how he did it.

Seating is spaced out with a plexiglass screen to keep everyone safe

We went online to reserve a certain vehicle that we were interested in test driving on Saturday, the next day. When we arrived for our 10:00 appointment we had a line of 2 other people ahead of us. We were all spaced out and multiple safety protocols were observed . On the screen that showed the queue of people it looks like about 10 people all had a reservation or appt for 10;00. We waited about 10 minutes and we were greeted by Jessica. She was very nice and pulled up the vehicle we wanted to drive, checked our driver licenses and insurance and we were soon on our way raking that car out for a spin. My husband and I thought that they might have had the car ready to drive but that wasn't the case. I'll bet they get a lot on no shows so that's why they don't. Even though we didn't end up buying a car today, we have used CarMax in the past for both selling and buying a used car and we had great experiences each time. I would recommend using CarMax, especially if you want to test out multiple vehicles from different manufacturers.

Quick, easy repair, and they stayed true to their word and communicated well during the whole maintenance period.

This is my personal experience, but I believe in accountability. I purchased a 2018 F150 Platinum from this location in June 2025. My initial interaction with Josh was disappointing, but Luis, the general manager, worked hard to make the deal happen and gave me a solid value on my trade-in. At that point, I genuinely felt taken care of. But immediately after taking the truck home, problems surfaced that their inspection clearly missed. Both the oil pan and rear differential were leaking. I returned under the 90-day warranty. The differential was fixed, but the oil pan leak continued and got worse. Every time I tried to bring it back, I was told: "Service is slammed. We have over 100 vehicles ahead of you. Try again next week." This went on for weeks. Then the title and registration issues began. For 3 months, I never received my plates. Every time I asked, I heard: "These things take time. We'll call you back." No one ever called back. Eventually I contacted the DMV myself and discovered the vehicle wasn't even titled or registered in my name -- it had been transferred to the previous owner months after I bought it. Only after the State, my lender, and corporate got involved did AutoNation finally fix the issue. 3,000 miles after purchase, the transmission failed completely. I had the truck towed to AutoNation Plano, confident the Gold Warranty would help. Instead, I've been left completely in the dark. A full week with no updates, no diagnosis, no call back, and no help with a loaner or rental. Every attempt to reach someone has gone nowhere. I've been without a vehicle for days while still obligated on a $32,000+ loan -- and have felt stranded and ignored by the entire service department. In my experience, this dealership is not transparent, does not communicate, and does not stand behind their customers once the sale is complete. We are now looking into our legal options, and I sincerely hope nobody else goes through what we did.

They really deserve 5 stars here, but I selected 4 so for 1 you know this isnt some bot writing the review, and 2 the appraiser here is an asshole. Don't know they guys name and didn't care after the way he acted the way he did when I questioned the low bid on my vehicle. He said there was hail damage on it and there obviously wasn't. I took the sales rep and manager there to show them. Regardless we left happy. Long story short the wife is loving the new vehicle and I couldn't have asked for a better team than Mo and Chris. I'll definitely be referring friends here because of those 2.

I made an appointment and arranged to fly in to see the vehicle a few days later (the night before the appointment). I was just about to leave the hotel I stayed at for the appointment when I received a text from Paul (note, no call) stating that the vehicle had been sold the day before. When I asked why I had not been informed yesterday, I was told that the transaction had been late in the day. I was more polite than I was feeling and stated that is why people despise used car sale people and the next time someone ghosts him, consider what eCarOne had done to me. A few minutes later, eCarOne spammed me with other vehicles that they were trying to sell. That put me over the edge and I replied to it telling them what they could do with those cars, unsubscribed and left similar feedback on those comments. The "sales manager" called me later that day (went to VM). After some phone tag, we talked. No apology, just the same story. Again, I was more polite than I felt. A week past and I received ANOTHER spam email yesterday. I am done being polite and again, told them what they could do with themselves. Now, this morning, I find myself mysteriously subscribed to a number of used car dealerships with the same phone number (google number) and email (throw away account) that I used with eCarOne. Interesting coincidence? Unlikely. I cannot encourage you enough to not do business with these people. They did everything in their power to uphold everything, everyone despises about used car sales.

The vehicle was sold to me with locking lug nuts, but I was never provided the wheel lock key. Shortly after purchasing the car, I hit a pothole and got a flat tire -- only to find out I couldn't even remove the wheel due to the missing key. This created a serious safety issue and left me stuck. When I contacted the dealership, multiple employees acknowledged that the key was not provided. However, instead of offering a solution, I was given the runaround and even told that they have sold multiple vehicles like this before and that it was somehow my responsibility to catch it during a "pre-sale inspection." As a customer, I should not be responsible for identifying missing essential equipment -- especially something that prevents basic maintenance and impacts safety. The lack of accountability and refusal to resolve a clear oversight is unacceptable. I am now having to pay out of pocket to fix an issue that should have been addressed before the vehicle was sold. Buyers beware -- make sure you thoroughly inspect everything, because this dealership does not take responsibility for missing items or customer safety concerns after the sale. Update they finally paid for the wheel lock today and requested me to remove the review.
