Bought an Audi q5 3.0 here and I love it. Can say that about carmax though. Carmax is Supposed to have a 150 point inspection. Their inspectors must be doing it with their eyes closed! First thing I found was that the rear view camera was Not working. Carmax stepped up and fixed it. Second thing was the Cabin air filter. I checked it because my wife was sneezing like crazy Every time she got in the Audi. Filter was absolutely dirty with some kind of nut shells black dirt. Third thing I found was a Dirty engine air filter. I mean as soon as I took it off, DIRT just started falling off it!! And the final thing So Far, we're the spark plugs. They say , and are proud of the fact that they do a 150 point Inspection! Well? If you're going to do an inspection you need to Open your Eyes to see. You need to Actually INSPECT and Not pencilwhip the paperwork. Finally, YOU need to have the Discrepancies FIXED! Finally, I would recommend to anyone looking for a vehicle here to get a mechanic to go with you if you can. Better yet tell the salesman you need more than 20 minutes for the test drive to have a mechanic or a person that KNOWS cars to look at the vehicle because I an NOT at all impressed with carmax's 150 point inspectors! read more

BUYER BEWARE - Do not ship cars to this location or buy from them. We paid to have a car shipped to this location. The car arrived in terrible condition, lots of scratches and dings that were not pictured. Interior was torn up, it was an AWD car with mismatched tires, generally just the car was a piece of junk and not as described. We complained about all of the obvious cosmetic and mechanical damage and they refuse to refund the shipping cost. The cars look great in pictures but if you have them shipped to the store, they will not help you at all if the condition is not as described. When my friend and I asked for water, we were given cups, but when another customer asked, they were provided bottled water and even offered a second one. The service felt inconsistent and disappointing. On top of that, I had already completed everything online beforehand to save time, yet I still ended up waiting an hour and a half, only to be told that the car I came for had a check engine light on. Now I have to wait even longer for the issue to be fixed. The lack of consistency in customer service and the delays made this experience frustrating. Update: truck I bought was a lemon At 4800 miles I went in for an oil change and found out the brake pads are bad, the tires are bad, the steering column had unusual wear requiring replacement, radio antenna was just missing all together and several other issues that CarMax is refusing to remedy because I didn't get an oil change at 3000 miles. Then it would have been under their warranty. Which seems to be the reason for the milage limit. They don't want non-mechanics to find out about the damage until legal action is required. read more

I took my 2019 vehicle for an appraisal and after they were done expecting the vehicle and printing out the appraisal, an employee came up to me with an appraisal price that was a total joke. The appraisal was just a little over 16k because supposedly my vehicle was involved in an accident back in 2022 at 30,000 miles via a third party report. I told the employee how is that possible when the vehicle only has just over 12,000 original miles and it's parked in my garage 95% of the time. The employee had a dumb look on his face not being able to explain the huge milage difference regarding the false accident that was on the third party report. This people are trying to low ball the people that are trying to sell their vehicles due to their fake third party reports. It's funny how the legit reports didn't come up with any accident reports on the vehicle, but only the third party report which it's total nonsense. They had the same vehicle as mine listed for just over $24,000 with 57,000 miles. Mine only had just over 12,000 miles with a more expensive paint color along with being fully loaded including extra packages. So what does that tell you on how they try to scam you by low balling people from trying to purchase your vehicle with their fake third party vehicle reports? read more

Great way to purchase a very good vehicle. It was easy, fast and they give fairly good amount on your trade in. BUT!! My advice to potential buyers is get the warranty! CarMax is a good way to buy, for ease of buying process. The reason I can only give three stars is they're don't have very good expertise relative to knowing and sharing "known" problems, that are unique to various make and model cars. I'm giving them the benefit of doubt citing their lack of expertise, as the alternative would be they deliberately withhold knowledge of product issues to get you to buy the car. I would hope that's not true! At any rate, I am satisfied with our purchase, withstanding the issue we had cost us 1400$ in repairs. This is our first time buying with CarMax, but it won't be our last! We have had an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end, and have already been highly recommending CarMax to everyone. Our salesperson, Francisco was very friendly and relaxed, walked us around the car we had found online, talked us through the 125 point CarMax inspection, noted all the known records on the car ~ previous owners + locations, service history, recalls, and CarMax repairs. We took an extensive test drive, including starting + stopping, reverse, local roads and highway. The car was very clean inside and out: hard to believe it was 13 years old. Paperwork was efficient and painless with Morgan in the business office. She even treated us to the big-yellow-bow photo op. So cute! We could have driven home except the car had window tinting that we wanted removed (and CarMax was required by CA law to remove), so we came back the next day. And the car has been wonderful since day 1. We took it to our long-time trusted local mechanic for a lookover. He noted the air filter (cabin filter) and transmission fluid should be replaced. I discovered one of the power windows had a catch and didn't always close all the way. CarMax's 90-day 100% warranty covered everything no questions asked. I sat down with her and told her buying a car is very stressful, takes all day and is not always fun. This is my experience in the past. So she was well prepared for the same experience. We did research online and had an idea of what she could afford and what would work for her family. When we arrived we were greeted by Sarah, she was so welcoming and just totally easy going. My daughter told her what she was looking for and Sarah looked up on the computer the available SUVs that would work. She printed off the papers and we walked around the lot to look at them. My daughter loved the Chevy Equinox and took it for a test drive and it was what she was looking for. Sarah was so awesome and honest with all my daughters questions. It felt like we were talking to a friend instead of a salesperson. She made the process so easy. We were still there most the day but no stress involved. **It would have been nice to have cold water it was 100 degrees and they don't have water for the customers. If I could give 0 stars I would. Well, my husband and I can in looking for a car. We had our eyes on a 2016 BMW x1 priced at 19k (out the door 22k). We sat with one of the girls (really nice) shared details (2 damage reports) on the car and so forth, so we decided to take it for a test run. The car was completely out of alignment, when you let off the gas the steering wheel would jerk back and forth it wasn't that clean inside had an odd stench. We sat with the sales girl and started to talk numbers my husband asked about negotiating because this car was worth anywhere between 15k to 18k. (Mind you we've been there before but never actually bought a car, so we weren't familiar with the process). She advised they don't negotiate and said "haven't you been here before" instead of educating us on the process, with this comment our business was lost. Not to mention, she states they do a full 125 point inspection on there cars, if that's true why was the car out of alignment?? She also stated they were the only ones who offered "no question asks return".This makes me believe that they don't really do the "125 point inspection". We quickly realized they stood behind overpriced cars. With a quick search we found a 2017 BMW X1 at the Valencia BMW dealership for 18k (0 damage reported ). (Out the door 20k). We ended up going there and we are now proud owners of a 2017 BMW X1 with no questions ask return. ( see photo below) Point is, don't not come here. However, know that you always pay a premium price with Carmax. Their vehicle search is top tier and thorough but you're gonna pay for those national commercial in your "no haggle" price. We also had to pay $349 the transfer location fee (from Alabama location) which is non refundable, wether you purchase or not. Car was shipped with heavy cigarette odor and a small dent, but again, Alex R. made certain those issues were addressed to our satisfaction. I'm a Marine Corp veteran and Carmax does not honor military veteran service. Not even an oil change. Very disappointing. Solid vehicle purchase, overall. So almost two years ago I was in need of a car, I went to carmax with about a 760 credit score! Excellent! I picked out a suv that was maybe 2012-2014 it was fine they quoted me $430 . Honestly after driving off the lot I wasn't really happy with it. With my credit score why am I even paying this much on a vehicle. They have a 3 day policy to return and just as I was about to return it.. I got rear ended. Not my fault dude ran into me . I took it to a mechanic to evaluate and it was a purely cosmetic fix it wasn't even dented in! It was just scratched! Carmax said that the under obtained structural damage and that they wouldn't take it. I took it to another mechanic who also said that there was NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE and he warned me that this particular carmax is known for being crooks and he always advises against buying from them! Welp I ended up going to Hyundai who took very good care of me! I got a brand new suv with monthly payment that is $480 just $50 more than the old worn Carmax car. I ended up voluntarily surrendering it, messed up my credit score but that could be easily repaired just like that dumb vehicle they tried to force upon me! Also beware of a man named Classic! THE WORST PLACE TO GO TO Thanks to an employee Eric at the business department. My mother and I got there at 2pm and didn't leave until 855pm that's basically closing. To end up leaving without a vehicle. I sold my car they told to come back at 330 to get all the paperwork ready. Again give him a few more minutes for the payment once I signed everything I will say it's about 5 even when I'm signing and he's explaining everything I believe he got confused a few times that he said sorry long day. Once we are done e again says just the front desk know that you want to check in to look the cars. We were already frustrated that it took that long. We waited until 554pm when our got the call saying that they can helps find a car. Michelle was amazing thank you for understanding!!! We took a test drive around 715pm we got back I looked at another car because they were willing to sell a car with trash deep inside the alternator. My family, unfortunately, purchased a vehicle, 2019 Nissan Altima, from your dealership in Palmdale, CA. A few months after purchase the vehicle started overheating and come to find out the vehicle had two blown head gaskets. After spending over $2,500 to get that repaired, the mechanic shop informed me the catalytic converter is bad as well. My only option to purchase a catalytic converter for the car was directly from the dealership for another price tag over $2,000. I went to the Nissan Dealership in Thousand Oaks, CA where they informed me the vehicle mileage was incorrect. I purchased the vehicle in December 2023 with about 78k miles. However, the Nissan dealership informed me the vehicle in fact has over 220,000 miles. With the help of consumer lawyers, we submitted a letter based on the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA). To which CarMax responded with the offer to take the car back, pay off my loan with my financial institution, pay back payments I have made to the loan, and to pay any other expenses put towards the car. An agreement was signed and all that needed to happen was for me to get paid and afterwards for CarMax to pick the vehicle up. It is getting close to 2 months since CarMax has said they have sent the payment/checks. Initially it was said to arrive around September 25th. In time for me to pay off my loan before my next payment on October 3rd. I never received any payment via mail or my financial institution. My lawyers were finally told the checks were cut, but never left the mail room. The point of contact at CarMax informed us then the checks were being sent out and I should receive them by Friday, November 8th and another check on Monday, November 11th. As it stand today, I have not received any payment or update about this. I am making payment on a vehicle I can no longer drive and throwing money away. When I purchased the vehicle, I was told by the salesman that the vehicle was clean and had no issues. The Experian Autocheck Report also stated that the vehicle was clean and had no issues. However, the CarFax I had to purchase stated there may be potential odometer fraud and there was a minor accident to the front. As a consumer, I highly recommend switching to CarFax reports or spending the money to use both Experian and CarFax to cross reference vehicles. To close, I am extremely disappointed with the service being provided by your dealership and corporate home office on a matter that should've been resolved a long time ago. Unfortunately, with this experience, moving forward I will not be doing business nor recommend CarMax. This has caused a lot of issues and complications with regard to scheduling and family matters, due to us being down to one vehicle again. I just pray this issue gets resolved because at the moment it seems to be going nowhere. read more

Came in with an online approval for my wife supposedly to just express pick up a 28k dollar vehicle we got there at 5:00 at our appointment time dealt with issac who by the way is exceptional with his customer care we appraised our 2015 Chrysler 300 out title went to the business office clean and clear from 5- to about 8:30 the car was ready and approved for purchase we had a mishap and had to drive home for my wifes id because she forgot it at home so during the drive we where told to add the new vehicle to our insurance which we did... we come back again and we are told we are ALL GOOD TO GO! A few minutes later we get told by Issac he had bad news that thr business office made a mistake and that the last plates on our car the previous owner had came back with a loan and that they where supposed to verify the finance company had no interest on on vehicle even though i handed them a clean and clear title showing myself and wife as owners of our vehicle and NO lien holders i got a little upset becarse again Issac called the business office 2 hours prior and was told they where on the clear to take trade in so as any customer in the right would i requested a manager or decision maker from that department the Girl who was helping us went and got a lead... someone of no authority so i requested the General Manager thats when everything went from bad to worse the Sales manager Lisah was overhearing my conversation and decided to come on over and be rude and condescending basically kicking me out the place telling me to leave and F Off when she said that i got more upset and told her she had no authority for the department i needed she kept. saying that there was nothing she can do and i could leave i explained everything that had happened and that they made me rekove my insurance from my vehicle to add theirs and that i had 4 hours at facility told everything's was good to go her answer was rolling her eyes and began a shouting match with me and my wife mind.. 4 total mistakes but no accountability from anyone 1st mistake---- they claimed their system didnt let them use my original approval so they had to re run credit 2nd mistake our express pick up was never processed even though we did everything over the phone 3rd Mistake our terms changed because they needed to re run credit according to them 4th Mistake they didnt verify all details on trade in on their part So at this point i think anyone would of been upset and again Lisah just had a nasty attitude for no reason! This vehicle was a present for mt wife and now everything is ruined because of their incompetence any Real manager would of Found a solution and locked that deal in considering the approval from the finance company was there it could of been as simple as only way we can release car is with cash down payment and come back Thursday and well take care of your appraisal but i guess she was in her feelings and decided to start a match with a customer I Wasnt the only one having issues woth fake approvals online and then showing up and the sales repa changing our approvals several customers where having the same issues i wonder if this is their deceptive tactic to get customers in the door... i will be filing grievance with the DMV, CFSA and CBP for their tactics Lisah shame on you, dont forget you have a job because of us CUSTOMERS i hope a GM or The owner reaches out to us and investigates these matters You guys are losing deals because of the people you have in charge i did financing for 16 years and i can attest this is deceptive and untruthful read more

People don't purchase a car from carmax, Idrise, and all service workers and the business center here are Grimmie and do people dirty me and my husband went through the worst experience ever we gave 6000 for a down payment we were never told that the car was in a car accident, had more than 1 owner, we had to purchase a new battery for a 2020 Honda Accord that they sold us our Car Horn went out, AC wasn't working, they didn't fix it and didn't care to fix it, we asked for a 150 deductible Idris put us down for a 250 deductible without us knowing he changed everything that was verbally told to us he switched all false information into the computer system our APR was supposed to be at a 12% he put us down for a 24% We contacted corporate to reach out our concerns and problems with the car supposedly the Manager at carmax Brandon was gonna help us our altomatom was to get an impresial for the car to try to do a trade in and the second option was to re run my credit to see if he can get us into another vehicle guarantee with no down payment after running my credit to get me into another vehicle they were asking for another 10,000 down. So the outcome for me and my husband was to sell them their peace of shit car back and lose out on 1700 and no car no solution a total of almost 8000 down the drain. This company is GARBAGE AND FRAUD! DONT PURCHASE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!Anyone else had a bad experience contact the Better Business Bureau. read more
