That alone told me a lot about how these people operate. When I got there, the boss was around too -- relaxed, straightforward, no pressure. The young guy who took me on the test drive was great -- you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. That kind of enthusiasm is rare, and it made the whole experience easy. And at the front desk, I was greeted by a young lady whose name -- I promise I am not making this up -- is Jennifer Lopez. Lol. I bought a 2021 Tesla Model Y. When I got home and ran the numbers myself, I was off from their figures by three dollars. Three. No hidden fees, no surprise add-ons -- just taxes and DMV, exactly as discussed. I found Trade-in Solutions on Caredge.com and Cargurus.com originally, and based on the yelp reviews and the great call I had with Jennifer from the dealership who followed up on my online inquiry about a 2023 Tesla Model Y they had in stock, I decided to book a test drive the next day (May 20th!) The listed price on their website for the VIN 7SAYGDEE2PA109095 was $29,388 as of May 19th when I looked and sent in the inquiry about the car online after-hours. Jennifer called in the morning May 20th and helped me set up the test drive same-day and was very helpful. The staff were all very nice, patient, and accommodating. They let me test drive + inspect the vehicle from head to toe. Adam led me on the test drive and let me test out everything I wanted to test out. After the test drive, one of the managers Jess sat me down in her office to talk purchase numbers - frankly I was ready to purchase the car immediately after how patient and upfront every one of their staff members had been! Sadly, that is where the pleasantries ended. Jess wrote up an out-the-door price that listed the car as $30,888. This was an increase in price overnight of $1500. I mentioned to Jess that it appears they had raised the price since I viewed it online, and that I felt a little bait and switched, but that if they would honor the original price they had listed the car for, I was still interested in purchasing it. Jess quickly hurried me out the office after going to talk to the store manager or someone, and reassured me that she would contact me regarding the pricing history of the car. She did, just 30 minutes later when I had sat down for lunch with my family. Jess insisted that I had been viewing a different VIN from a car that was now in Seattle despite the screenshots I have uploaded to this review proving the price increased unexpectedly (thankfully I still had their dealership's website open from the night before on my laptop when I got home, and I was able to download the original web page proving the price for this exact VIN was indeed originally $29,388 before I came in to test drive!) To stop the arguing and unnecessary back-and-forth, I asked her politely to confirm that the new price of $30,888 was the price they were going to stick with, and she confirmed that this was indeed the price they would stick with and that there was no changing the price. She further insisted that I was the one who was mistaken and that the car I viewed was not in their possession, and thanked me for coming in anyways and to have a nice day. While this kind of practice is not uncommon, reading the reviews on here for this dealership really did not lead me to expect this kind of bait-and-switch behavior! If Jess had simply told me they had a pricing error and the dealership wanted to sell the car for $30,888 and not $29,888, I would have accepted this and purchased the car anyways especially considering how accommodating the staff had been, but to lie to my face and try to convince me I was delusional? This goes against my moral compass and I cannot in good conscience support behavior like this. I am uploading pictures of the sales sheet and their company's website as further proof. However, I would like to say that everyone aside from Jess (Adam, Jennifer, and the kind front deskman whose name I sadly cannot remember right now) did their jobs well and were extremely helpful and patient! I may consider reporting this to the better business bureau as well, as bait-and-switch tactics such as these are exactly why dealerships get a bad rep. Make sure to take screenshots of the dealership's website of the car you are going to purchase before contacting them for a test drive or coming in person to view the car! They offered me a low ball offer for my car but out of laziness & how close they are to where I live, I was going to take it. Jennifer told me the offer was 11k & I told her I will think about it as I go away for the weekend (this conversation was on a Thursday) & she told me "ok, the offer is good until Monday." So now I call back today (on Monday) to say yes to their offer & she asks if the car has been driven & I say "no- only the few miles home back to my apartment from your location." She tells me (like she's doing me a favor) that the offer is now $300 lower (despite originally saying their offer was valid until today) & me saying it has literally only a few miles driven on it since I had to take it home from their location!! Like literally 2 miles more on the odometer than before!) Even in this companies voicemail, they say their offers are good for 7 days or 350 miles. But mine was only for 4?? And not even that long & they tried to lower it?? In this companies voicemail they say "offer good for 7 days or 350 miles." Neither promise they kept in my case!! What a scam. Bait & switch. Slimey. They worked with me to obtain the title from the DMV and even allowed me to keep the car in their lot free of charge until the transfer was complete. Disappointing experience that could have been completely avoided with proper oversight over your relationship with Kelly Blue Book. Like many people looking to sell their car, I received multiple quotes on instant offers from many websites. One I received was via Kelly Blue Book that offered me a quote via their affiliate, Trade In Solutions. After getting many other bids from different websites, some of which said they could not offer me a price, I accepted the offer from Trade In Solutions via KBB (Kelly Blue Book). I called to schedule my appointment and confirmed everything was in order and was getting ready to leave to drop off my car. I then received a call back 10 minutes later stating that they could no longer buy my car. They did not say why. After my confusion and frustration since I had just confirmed everything with them, they said that the "confirmed offer" is not guaranteed until they see the car, so they did nothing wrong in their opinion. They claimed the KBB algorithm made a mistake and I should not have received an offer. When I asked what was wrong they said my car was listed as having "minor damage". They did not explain what that meant. I was frustrated by the sheer lack of accountability of Trade In Solutions and recommend they look into their relationship with KBB if they just plan on blaming them for what happened. Please consider going elsewhere to save yourself time and headache. Update: I am responding to Abe the business manager's response to my post. While I appreciate his thoughtful words and kind feedback, particularly around the faults of the KBB algorithm, I think he may have misunderstood a few issues I had with my experience. There was no issue or discrepancy on the mileage, your representative went ahead and confirmed my appointment before calling me back to cancel the appointment. The appointment simply should never have been made without confirming the details of my car. Secondly, your colleague claimed the car could not be purchased because of "mild damage", when I tried to explain that the car was not in an accident but rather had minor cosmetic damage from a storm that had been rectified. It frankly seemed like she was making excuses for why the car could not be purchased. At no point did she bring up my model or mileage as reasons for cancelling, despite clearly having access to my vehicle's detailed history report. When I tried to elaborate and frankly it seemed like she was being evasive and simply wanted to move on with her day, I ended the conversation to similarly avoid further wasting my time. Please understand, the KBB issue is certainly one aspect of my frustration and one we can both rightfully vehemently agree on, but the lack of clear communication when it comes to appointments and the evasiveness for why my vehicle could not be acquired is another and, in my opinion, more in your organization's control. Again, I completely understand my car could not be purchased by your organization, but do not confirm my appointment over the phone and then abruptly call back to cancel after I have already made plans around this. Perhaps having a review process in place in conjunction with making an appointment could have prevented this situation. read more
